-Eve-

The anxiety of not knowing got the best of me so I stood up and left the room.

As I got out of the room I was in, I wandered towards the exit and found myself in what seemed like a hidden park inside the building. I was amazed at how beautiful the place looked, on a good day I would have stayed and admired the place. But I need to get out of here and find my cheating ex-boyfriend and ex-bestfriend.

If they think they can easily get away from me they are wrong.

"I'm not wrong. Shouldn't you reflect on yourself? Sophie is prettier than you and has a gentler personality. You're so unromantic. Every day with you is torture for me. Do you understand? Leave us."

A girl was pushed to the ground and was crying silently. In front of her, there was a man and a woman, their half-naked bodies and love bites telling everything.

What the hell is wrong with the world?

And how come there are more jerks than there are good guys?

Before I knew it, my feet moved on their own and didn’t stop until I was standing between the cheating couple.

"What's wrong with you? You betrayed her and are still acting innocent here, blaming everything on others. It's disgusting. You're a self-righteous fool. And you..."

They both turned to face me. The girl looked shocked but as for the man, he looked more amused than surprised.

“This is for everyone who got betrayed by the people they trusted the most,” I said as I pulled my hand back and slapped the woman’s face so hard that the sound that came from the contact was so loud.

“Cut!” A loud shout boomed surprising me as crew members appeared nowhere.

“What the hell are you doing?!” The woman covered her face and shouted. A team of women with makeup and other stuff appeared to check on her face, and then a man with a dark face pulled me aside.

"Where did you find such a stupid woman? She actually dared to hit me. I'm telling you, if this isn't resolved properly, I’ll give up this film." She snarled with that dark-faced man, the director, I supposed.

Then all the lights came on one after another, and some people carrying cameras came out from the corners.

I turned around and looked at all this, suddenly realizing that I got into trouble.

They are shooting a film.

This was fake.

And I just had a crazy outburst, like a lunatic. I regained my senses and really wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

“I never knew you were that strong,” I turned to see a tall figure lurking in the dark but he slowly walked towards me, and I stood face-to-face with the man in front of me. My eyes blinked several times as the realization of who he was dawned on me.

I can’t believe I am letting Vincent Beckett see me ridicule myself. We have always been head-to-head with each other. Especially at school. All I know is that he is a rich spoiled brat who always gets everything he wants, except being the top in our school because I always get that spot.

“What are you doing here?” I asked as he chuckled. Of all the people to see my mistake why the hell does it have to be Vincent freaking Beckett.

“Shouldn’t I be the one to be asking that?” It was more than a question as a smirk appeared on his face.

Instead of answering his question, I just stared at him.

“Cat got your tongue, Eve?” The smirk was back on his face and I wish I could slap him.

“Well, it’s not my fault that they didn’t explain everything clearly to me,” I retorted, trying and failing at the same time to redeem myself.

He looked at me in silence, all amused as I fought my urge to turn and run away because whoever left lost this game that we were playing. Even though I am not sure if I am winning.

“Why do I feel like what you are not acting? Like you experience the very same thing?” He rubbed his chin, pretending that he was in deep thought. I felt my cheeks heat up as I looked away from him. I can’t further embarrass myself in front of him.

“There you are!” The woman with the headset and clipboard said loudly. “I clearly told you to stay put and you wouldn’t listen!”

“I’m not even sure why…” I started to explain but she cut me off.

“You’re just an extra!” She shouted raising her hands along with the clipboard. “You need to pay for all the damages you have caused and all the pain you made Miss Honey endure.”

“What damages?” I asked.

“The time. The set, and the actors and actress f*e for wasting their time.”

“How can you hold me accountable when I wasn’t supposed to be here? You pulled me even though I tried to stop you several times.”

“You will pay or you will go to jail.” She crosses her arm.

“I can’t go to jail,” I said, trying to reason out.

She was about to say something else when someone called her.

“Wait here,” she said angrily, “Or I’ll make sure you really go to jail.”

I watched her as she walked away.

I sighed not sure what the hell I put myself into.  I turned around and found that Vincent Beckett was still standing there, smiling at me.

“How much do you think the damage they keep saying I cause cost?” I asked him

“About a couple of hundred…” He started to say but I cut him.

“Good I think I still have a thousand dollars saved up,” I said simply, but I stopped breathing the moment that he finished his sentence.

“...thousand of dollars.”

“What?” I said almost screaming.

I don’t have that money. Where the hell am I going with that money when I don’t even have any work yet? Having my two part-time gigs isn’t even enough to cover five thousand dollars.

Panic runs through my veins as I am not sure what to do.

“Are you okay?” He asked and I just nodded even though I really am not.

“I guess, I’ll see you around,” I hear him say, but can’t look at him as my mind races thinking of ways to earn the money to pay the damages.

-Eve-I woke up early the next day to start the first day of my debt-paying days.My life was supposed to turn to hell yesterday. However, the girl with the clipboard came back to me and, to my surprise, her angry expression was gone. She told me that the investors had decided to let me work for the company as compensation.I took out that business card and read it again. Dreamweaver Company is one of the top ten companies in the world. I didn't know if the goddess of fate took pity on me and actually wanted to save me.I am still not sure what kind of work they are going to ask me to do, but as long as I won’t be subjected to human trafficking or be a sex worker it would be okay. I arrived a few minutes earlier than scheduled and couldn’t help but stand in front of the tallest building in the city. I can’t believe that I get to work for this company. The HR personnel received me, “Miss Eve Anderson, from today on, you will be the Executive Assistant to the company’s CEO.I blinked a

-Eve-I arrived home smiling as I remembered what had happened that day. “Is that you Eve?” my grandmother called out from the kitchen. “Yes, Nana,” I replied as I hurriedly walked toward the kitchen to give her a hug and kiss. My parents died in a car accident when I was still young and all I have was my Nana. Everything I had been working hard for was all for her. I wanted to make sure that she could stop selling at the market and just enjoy some time with her friends instead. “Set the table dear,” she replied as turned off the stove. I helped her bring everything she had cooked to the table and was surprised at the amount of food she had cooked.“Why did you cook a lot, Nana?” I asked as I took the seat in front of her and was ready to dig in when Nana’s question surprised me. “It’s your first day of your internship, isn’t Stephen joining us?” Her question was so innocent that I couldn’t help but feel guilty that I hadn’t told her what Stephen did to me. “No, he won’t I repl

I can see the look on the woman’s face as she looked at me and I can tell that I interrupted something that shouldn’t be disturbed. I heard her stump away but didn’t look in her direction, afraid of what I would see.“Do you have it?” I heard Vincent say, making me confused at first but then realized who the hell he was.“Yes,” I replied as I placed the envelope on the couch near me. “I’m not going to eat you, Eve,” he said. “Bring the file to me,” he added.I picked up the envelope and the sigh that escaped my lips made him laugh. -Eve-One thing I hate more than my asshole boyfriend is to be indebted to someone, especially if that someone is my greatest rival, Vincent Beckett. I enjoyed seeing his face whenever the top of our school was released. But lately, seeing his face is one of the things I have begun to hate. Every time we see each other he always sees me at my most vulnerable and my most embarrassing moment. It’s like my world is falling apart and I can't do anything but watch it. Aside from the pressure of working for Vincent, the job was pretty easy for me. At first, I was really afraid that I wouldn’t be able to do my job and get fired leaving me with so much debt, but it wasn’t hard at all. However, I know that it was because I had Natalie with me. “I’m glad you are enjoying it,” Natalie replied. “I know that you are not really working full-time right now but I really hope that you can continue doing part-time even when school starts again.” I looked at her in surprise. -Vincent-I never knew how deep Evelyn’s trauma was. The doctor said that it was clear that Evelyn was not happy to be here at the hospital. The doctor also said that Evelyn was in denial right now. It was also because of these reasons that the doctor decided to let her go home, given that there is always someone with her. Someone who would be able to help her when the trigger kicked in. Someone who would be able to make sure her meds are taken on time. Someone who could rush her to the hospital if necessary. All these were explained to me and Evelyn’s grandmother. “Do you have a safe house?” Evelyn’s grandmother asked after the doctor’s explanation. “Yes,” I replied. “Then you should take my Evelyn home and take care of her.” When I just looked at her and never said a thing Evelyn’s grandmother continued. “I am old and don’t have enough straight to carry her if she faints out of anxiety. The location of our house is also far from the good hospital. I know how much you care fo

-Eve-The Psychiatric office of my doctor was nothing like the one I had in my dream. And because my dream was still fresh, I asked Vincent to stay out by the door, just in case. The room was more in calming colors of neutrals and no sunflowers. My doctor was not behind a big desk with the computer but the couch she asked me to sit on was definitely more comfortable than the one in my dream.“Hello, Evelyn,” my doctor greeted. She looks like she was a bit older than I was but gives me the feel that we are just the same age. “Hello,” I replied. “So, how are you?” She asked. “I feel better.”“Is there something that you would like to share or do you have any questions?”“Honestly, I am not sure why I am here. They just told me that I needed to visit you before I was allowed to go home. But technically, I am all healed up.” She listens to my every word and writes down on the clipboard in front of her. I am not sure if she was writing everything that I say word per word or not. “How

His body which was tensed slowly loosened as he realized that what I said was true. My heart ached to see my confident man so afraid of something, I guess for my sake, someone like me.I was someone who was never meant to have him, but I was selfish and greedy. But after everything that had happened, I am now questioning if I have the right to be one. I shrug my thoughts away for now. I will face them soon enough but now is not the right time. She always smiles at me, at us, but my gut tells me that it’s not true. My gut tells me that something was happening to her underneath the facade that she was currently wearing.
