-Eve-

I arrived home smiling as I remembered what had happened that day.

“Is that you Eve?” my grandmother called out from the kitchen.

“Yes, Nana,” I replied as I hurriedly walked toward the kitchen to give her a hug and kiss.

My parents died in a car accident when I was still young and all I have was my Nana. Everything I had been working hard for was all for her. I wanted to make sure that she could stop selling at the market and just enjoy some time with her friends instead.

“Set the table dear,” she replied as turned off the stove.

I helped her bring everything she had cooked to the table and was surprised at the amount of food she had cooked.

“Why did you cook a lot, Nana?” I asked as I took the seat in front of her and was ready to dig in when Nana’s question surprised me.

“It’s your first day of your internship, isn’t Stephen joining us?” Her question was so innocent that I couldn’t help but feel guilty that I hadn’t told her what Stephen did to me.

“No, he won’t I replied,” as I started to dig in.

“Oh,” she said in surprise. “I thought he was coming to propose to you.”

“What do you mean?” I asked in confusion.

“I just thought that since you are now working and at the right age, the two of you would finally tie the knot,” Nana explained smiling.

“Nana,” I started to say, not sure how to break the news to her. All I told her was that I was given the opportunity to work in a very nice company. That I was hand-picked. Not to mention the real reason why I was really going to work there.

“It would really make me happy, my dear child, to see you walk that aisle, and to have someone to take care of you,” she looked down at her plate as she continued, “I am not getting any younger and it is my wish to see you all settled down.”

“Nana…”

Suddenly our doorbell rang, confusing me as I was not expecting anyone.

Nana was about to stand up but I stopped her and checked who it was. As I view the monitor of our doorbell I found the person I never want to see again.

“Nana,” I shouted as I prepared to get out, “finish eating, I’ll just buy some ice cream.”

“You haven’t finished eating yet,” Nana shouted back.

“I am a bit full because we had a company dinner,” I lied. “Just finish eating and I will clean everything once I am back.”

I didn’t wait for her reply as I rushed outside and opened the gate of the house.

“What the hell are you doing here, Stephen?” I asked as I pulled him away from my house and led him to the playground where we used to meet up.

“Can’t you help me out, Evie?” I cringe hearing the nickname he gave me.

“Seriously, Stephen, you ask me for a favor after cheating on me?”

“I did it for us, Evie,” he shouted. “None of it was real. I was just using her. I needed her connection so that I could create a better future for us.”

“You wanted to create a better future by marrying my best friend and making a fool out of me? Wow, Stephen, just wow. Can’t you make a better excuse?”

“I was planning to divorce her once I got what I wanted,” he replied as he fell to his knees in front of me. “Please, Evie. All I wanted was a better life for us.”

“Divorce? Better life? Are you fucking serious right now, Stephen?” I can’t believe what he was saying and how can he think that all of these words are making me feel better?

“You need to believe me, Evie,” he continued to say with a slur, “It’s for us.”

“No, Stephen,” I replied. “None of it is for us, because the moment that you married my best friend there was no us.”

I started to walk away and leave him at the sandbox when he pulled my hand and started crying as he begged me to stay.

“Evie, please,” he begged and I almost gave him another chance until I heard what he said. “It was Stella’s fault, she tempted me.”

I turned to face him and pulled my hand from his.

“You asshole,” I shouted, “Man up! Stop putting the blame on everyone around you just because you can’t handle your shit.”

“Really, Evie? Are you saying this is all my fault when you won’t even have sex with me?!”

“I was saving it after our marriage you jackass!” How can he even bring that up when he always tells me that he understood? Was I really that blind not to see who he really is?

“Who the hell does that?!” He shouted back.

“This conversation isn’t going anywhere,” I said finally giving up. I can’t believe I wasted so much time and effort to be with him., “Don’t ever show your face at my house and at the company I work at or I’ll make your life a living hell.”

“Evie,” Stephen pleaded.

“Go home Stephen,” I replied tiredly. “Go home to your wife.”

I didn’t wait for him to respond and just left him there. I was almost at my front door when my phone rang.

“Miss Anderson?” A man's voice asked.

“Yes, who’s this?” I asked.

“This is Carl,” he replied. “The CEO’s driver and bodyguard.”

“Carl?” I asked.

“I was the guy who came by to stop the commotion earlier at the office,” he replied.

“Oh,” that guy’s name was Carl. “What can I do for you?”

“I will send one of our CEO’s other drivers, he needs some materials for tomorrow's meeting but I can’t bring them to him, and no one else other than me and those that he allows could go inside his house. Since you are the new EA can you bring those documents to him, please? I will make sure that you will be paid handsomely for this trouble.”

I looked at the time and watched as my grandmother’s light turned off signaling that she was about to sleep.

“Okay,” I replied as the beating of my heart sped up. “How soon will the driver come?”

“10 minutes,” Carl replied. “I will call you again once the car is outside of your house.”

“You know where I live?” I asked, alarmed making Carl chuckle.

“Of course,” he replied, “It’s on your File.” How can I forget who I was working for?

At exactly 10 minutes the car Carl said was outside. It was the first time I cleaned the dishes, took a shower, and changed clothes that fast.

Once inside, as Carl instructed, I signed a non-disclosure agreement that surprised me but did not complain.

Our CEO’s house was on the richest subdivision in the country and was on top of the hill. I was surprised that he lives in a subdivision instead of a penthouse suite but who am I to judge?

The driver stopped in front of the gate but didn’t go inside. I pressed the doorbell and the gate unlocked. The front door was also unlocked and then I found the box in which Carl asked me to leave the NDA folder.

Carl specifically instructed that I go to the second floor of the house and deliver the document to no one else but our CEO. Just then, I realized that I didn’t even know our CEO’s name.

I remember the article I read about the company but all it stated was the main chairman of the company, Mrs. Alicia Stevenson. The CEO was never mentioned. Maybe the CEO was just appointed?

As I reached the second room, I found that all the doors were closed except for the one at the end of the doorway.

“Hello?” I called out, as I approached the slightly opened door.

“Is anyone home?” I called again before I opened the door wider. I froze at the scene before me. The envelope in my hand fell on the floor as my eyes fell on the naked man who was standing with his back to me while a naked woman was on his bed.

The man slowly turned and I thought that seeing a naked man standing in front of me was the most surprising thing to see, I never thought that knowing who the naked man was would surprise me more.

“Hello, Evelyn,” He said with a smile on his face as he stood naked in front of me.

“Glad to see you again,” he added.

I took a deep breath as I realized how my small world became smaller after finding out who was my boss.

-Eve-One thing I hate more than my asshole boyfriend is to be indebted to someone, especially if that someone is my greatest rival, Vincent Beckett. But it seems as though my debt with him just keeps on piling up and knowing that scares me.I mean, I never hated him for being one of my toughest rivals. In fact, I enjoy it. I enjoyed seeing his face whenever the top of our school was released. But lately, seeing his face is one of the things I have begun to hate. Every time we see each other he always sees me at my most vulnerable and my most embarrassing moment. It’s like my world is falling apart and I can't do anything but watch it. And to make it worse, Vincent was right there sitting in the front row watching how my world crumbles. I may be smart, but lately, it makes me feel like I am the dumbest girl in the world because I fell in love with an asshole. “You can drop me at the bus stop,” I said softly as I pointed ahead. “Why?” Vincent asks, but I don’t dare look at him. “I

-Eve--Eve-Vincent was out the whole morning and I couldn’t be more happier.“So what do you think of being an Executive Assistant?” Natalie asked all of a sudden, breaking the silence. “I kinda enjoyed it,” I admitted smiling. Aside from the pressure of working for Vincent, the job was pretty easy for me. At first, I was really afraid that I wouldn’t be able to do my job and get fired leaving me with so much debt, but it wasn’t hard at all. However, I know that it was because I had Natalie with me. “I’m glad you are enjoying it,” Natalie replied. “I know that you are not really working full-time right now but I really hope that you can continue doing part-time even when school starts again.” I looked at her in surprise. I almost forgot about school. I guess it was because my plans had changed. Initially, the plan was that Stephen and I would be married and I would stay at home for the first two years of our marriage to build our family. Stephen was ahead of me and had already ta

Actually, there is no problem with the meeting. You can make me go to every meeting there is, and I assure you that it will all go according to plan—everything except this one. Because a meeting that my grandmother has set up is something that never goes according to my plan. Don’t get me wrong, I love my grandmother. But I hate how she rushes me into marriage even though I told her several times already that it’s not for me.“Alright,” my Grandmother said as she looked at each of us. “That sums up our monthly meeting. Thank you all for coming and keep up the good work.”I hurriedly collected my things and rushed to the door, with no goodbyes, no hugs, and no kisses. Because those things just trap me.“Vincent,” my grandmother called out when I was just one step out of the room. I debated to just pretend that I didn’t hear her

I keep telling myself that I am not a liar even though it surprises me that I find myself lying almost all the time. I watched as Vincent’s brow rose, disbelieving me. “Okay,” I said as I raised both my hands. “I know I have lied several times but those are just white lies. But once Carl gave me an update and her hunch as to what had happened to Evelyn’s grandmother, I decided to reschedule my meeting and let Carl focus on assisting Evelyn. “The doctors advised to keep Miss Anderson’s grandmother for the night to make sure that they didn’t miss anything,” Carl reported. I was glad that Evelyn’s grandmother was fine and that it was nothing serious, but what concerned me was what Carl found out. It seems that Evelyn’s grandmother was scammed. “Make sure to find out what exactly happened,” I told Carl, and I even asked him to make sure that everything that Evelyn and her grandmother needed had been taken care of. My phone rang as soon as I hung up with Carl, I immediately answered thinking it was Evelyn only to be disappointed

-Eve-I don’t know what I would feel after hearing Vincent’s story. I am not even sure if I was supposed to know that. But if there was one thing it did, it made me understand why Vincent was not into relationships. I wish I would know who that girl was. I wish there was a way for me to make the bad memories and pain to go away. I also need to know who the hell the obsessed girl was. Why she did what she did. If she was a damn heiress, she has more options than others. I guess people really want what they can’t have. And even if you are a heiress, it doesn’t mean that you could have everything.“Sometimes, I wish I was not born into my family,” Ems said, as she looked at the night sky. Her cheeks were crimson and she had that far away look in her eyes. “I just want to be a normal person, you know.” This time she turned to face me, waiting for my response. “Why?” I asked. “Money and power can’t get you everything you want. It can’t even let you buy happiness.” “What do you mean?”

But that was not the only thing that took me by surprise. Another thing that I recognized just now was the way his face was beaming at her. Was he making her jealous? Why is he so happy?Or was he just so good at acting and not showing her what he truly feels?“The popular girl that stole the heart of the most elusive bachelor,” her voice was sultry and confident and I am not sure if she was flirting with Vincent or not. I turned to face her and gave her the best smile I could come up with. She pulled me to her and gave me a kiss on both cheeks. She doesn’t only look good but also smells good. There was nothing about this woman that wasn’t likable. If I was a guy I would fall for her too.Someone came a

-Eve-Three elegant dresses lay on the bed before me. They were dresses sent by his friend. A friend who obviously has amazing taste. They are all made of different materials, and all of them have their own characteristics. I sigh as the pang of jealousy starts to grow bigger inside of me. I am not the jealous type, and I have never been jealous, even when I was with Stephen. I am not sure why. But when I found out about him and Stella, I was angry because I felt betrayed. But after everything that had happened, that betrayal made it easy for me to move on. I don’t even know what it feels like to envy someone who has something you wish you had. Never jealous of Brie’s social standing. Nor Vincent’s money. But ever since I realized I had feelings for Vincent, feelings like jealousy and envy have always shown themselves. And I hate that I have no right to even feel those feelings. Another heavy sigh escaped my lips as I took another look at the dresses in front of me. The blue dre

-Eve-I don’t know if it was because of the mood or if it was because we hadn’t seen each other for such a long time that we both gave in to what our bodies had been craving ever since we sat at the dining table. I know that Vincent told me everytime that he doesn’t make love, that he only fuck women for release. And yet, every time that he was inside of me, I felt otherwise. The care and attention he gives me sometimes make me feel greedy. It makes me want more. If there was a way for me to keep him, I would. I might even sell my soul to the devil if it meant that his grandmother would accept me. Accept us. I might seem to be brazen, but I am not. Trust me, I am not. But I already had a deal with a devil, and it turned out okay. Well, for now, at least. Because I know what I gave in return for this small piece of heaven I am experiencing.I just wish that when the time comes, my heart would be strong enough to mend all the broken pieces. “You broke your promise,” Vincent said a

-Eve-I woke up with a throbbing headache, in a place I didn't recognize, in a very big king-size bed, in the most elegant room I have ever seen. The wind blows the curtain in as the light from outside shows a reddish-orange-pink glow. Reddish-orange-pink glow…The color combination made me sit up in bed as I scanned the room I was in, looking for something to tell me that what I was thinking of was wrong. My eyes roamed the room, but I didn’t find what I was looking for.Instead, that’s when I realized that I was no longer in Brie’s mansion. I removed the covers from my body and recognized something else. I wasn’t wearing my clothes. The ones that I was wearing at that moment were too big to be mine. I begin to panic as I remember something that had happened last night. Unfortunately for me, all I have are fragments of it. I stood but immediately fell back on the bed as my throbbing headache felt like it was being hammered with several nails at the same time. I need to calm down

  • The Billionaire's Secret   Chapter 66 - My Fantasy

-Vincent-I thought I could never love a woman so much, but once again, Evelyn proved me wrong. I watched as the love of my life slept soundly on the air bed in the middle of my limousine as if she was not kidnapped like what she was accusing me earlier. A part of me already knew that this would happen, but I never thought I would like it as much as I did. Evelyn has always been this quiet girl filled with secrets. A woman who deserved to have anything and everything she wanted but always thought otherwise. She could have used me all she wanted because she literally had me wrapped around her fingers, but she never did.She didn’t have anyone but her grandmother. After Alyana told me about Evelyn telling them about us and the way she threatened me if I was to hurt Evelyn, I was more happy than angry after knowing that Evelyn broke our contract. A contract that no longer exists since the night she gave me everything she has. I was glad to hear that because, finally, someone had her

-Eve-“Make it stop!” I begged, but I am not sure if my voice was heard. Honestly, I don’t know if I was the one who spoke since it didn’t sound like my voice. All I can remember is the blaring sound of the alarm that sounded like the alarms the bank uses when someone tries to rob them. “Please,” I begged again. “Make it stop!” I am not sure if I was screaming, but it felt like that since my throat hurt. “It’s really hard to trust the three of you,” I heard someone say. I tried to open my eyes, but I was blinded by the light behind him. I grimaced once my eyes made contact with the shiny light behind him. “What would I do with you?’ I am not sure if he was asking me or if he was complaining. But whoever this guy is, I love his voice. “Are you my angel?” I asked, leaning towards the warmth that the voice brought exudes. If there was one thing that this drunken state does to us, it is to loosen our tongues and say things we couldn’t say when we are sober. “I am so envious of you now, my friend,” Brie admitted as she popped a chip in her mouth. My eyes grew big with her admission, not understanding how she can say that when she was a fucking princess. “I know I sounded like a selfish brat, which is I am right now. -Vincent-After dropping Evelyn off, I went straight to the new house I had purchased for Evelyn. And I couldn’t be more happy to know that Tony was able to convince the King of Norrustra to do the same. The Royals Mansion is the most luxurious, safest place any person could buy a house from. Before anyone can buy a home here, an extensive background check has to be made. Not only that, but they also need to be part of their exclusive club called The Regal. For some, they have to pay to be part of the exclusive club. For others, it is offered for free, because the mere mention of one’s name as member is like free advertisement. What makes The Royal Mansuon different from the rest is that you can be a member of the exclusive club but not a homeowner because the background checks made for the homeowners are different. When Tony told me what had happened, and god how I wanted to punch Emmet’s face at that, I immediately did some research and found the place. Especially when Alyana st
