Logan's POV

It had become clear that Mathew wanted war, and there was no way in hell that I was going to back away from this fight. He had crossed a line, one that I simply couldn't ignore. I had done my best to keep things subtle between us simply of guilt and the fact that he was family. They had called it cowardice, but I didn't care, I didn't listen to what anybody said, I just wanted to keep my son and my company alive. But now that Mathew had directly threatened the two things I cared about the most, there was no way I was going to sit still and let it slide.

I knew exactly where to hit Mathew hard, and I was not going to let this opportunity slide. His cartel was a large one, and Matthew Forger had a big reputation in the underground business world. His cartel was mostly responsible for the sale of transportation of goods in the black market, and I had inside info that they were transferring illegal merchandise into the city tonight.

While I had no idea what the produc

Mathew's POV "That son of a bitch!" I spat the moment announced the news to me. More than a dozen of my men had been arrested at last night's raid of the Black Box, and I had no doubt in my mind that this was Logan Forger's doing. This was payback for burning his warehouses. He clearly was no longer the coward he used to be, and that had clearly become a serious problem. "I'll kill him! I'll fucking kill that bastard!" I rampaged, throwing everything in sight and smashing anything that was too heavy to lift and launch at the wall. "He's playing with me! He's fucking playing with me." "Give me an order, I'll make sure he pays for this!" Viktor demanded calmly, though the rage he felt at that moment was difficult to conceal. He was shaking, seething with rage. His cousin had been one of the apprehended members, and this wasn't a raid done by the police. The fucking army were involved, the state military, it wasn't a case I could simply resolve with power. If anything, it was probab

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   041: Grocery Shopping

Heather's POV Grocery shopping was something I did once a week, and it was one of the few times I had to leave the house besides school. Strapping my purse to my side, I stepped out of the house with a smile. I turned to the car parked by the side, I hadn't had the chance to learn how to drive, and each time I saw Alex's gift wasting, I felt sad. He had promised to teach how to drive soon, but he was always too busy for something as tedious as driving lessons. Letting out a sigh, I walked towards the main road to flag down a taxi. A part of me preferred taking a taxi to driving a car. I knew that driving such a luxurious car would do nothing but pull attention towards me, and attention was the last thing Alex and I wanted. After ten minutes of sitting in complete silence, the taxi finally came to a halt in front of the city mall. It was usually busy during the weekends, and a packed mall was a haven for pickpockets and purse snatchers. Though I hadn't been a victim, it wasn't dif

Mathew's POV "Heather Stone." I read out from the ID that Viktor had slipped out of her purse two days ago. She had caught my eyes the moment I saw her inside the mall. She was a pretty lady, and there was something about her that had immediately caught my eyes. Determined to know more about her, I had sent Viktor to pretend to be a purse snatcher so that I could get some info on her. Viktor had already taken the ID out of her purse before I knocked him down and retrieved the purse. She was a student according to her ID card, and that definitely came as a surprise. Nothing about her screamed the fact that she might be a student, and that even made me more intrigued. "Are you really going after a girl you met two days ago?" Viktor inquired with a surprised look on his face as we parked in the school's parking lot. "Maybe." I returned curtly before stepping out of the car. "Stay put, I don't want you to ruin this for me with your stuck up attitude." Viktor only gave me a small smil

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   043: A Date II

Cynthia's POV The last person I had expected Alexander's wife to be with was Matthew Forger! Not only that, they both seemed to be having a good time with each other, and if I wasn't mistaken, had possibly come here for a date. What's going on? Do they know each other? Or was I simply seeing things?! No, I was definitely not hallucinating, the shocked expressions on both Mathew and Heather's face was enough to tell me that I wasn't seeing things. They could both see me, and it was clear that they hadn't expected to meet me here. I sat still for a moment, unsure if I should stand up and approach them, or simply pretend like I hadn't seen them at all. I wanted to go with the latter, but curiosity killed the cat. Rising from my seat, I approached Heather, completely ignoring Mathew. Heather was the reason I was here, I knew she passed through this route whenever she was going home, and I had planned to intercept her and have a word, but I hadn't expected her to come here with M

Heather's POV I had a strong feeling that Cynthia hadn't left even after she exited the restaurant, and I had been correct. The moment I was done with Matt, she had appeared out of nowhere and had intercepted my path. "What?!" I snapped at her angrily. I knew what she was up to, and I was in no mood to play those games with her. "So when were you going to tell Alex about your hot friend?" Cynthia asked just like I had expected she would. She crossed her arms dramatically, a sly grin slowly spreading across her face. Her tone was full of mockery, and I knew she wasn't going to leave me alone unless I said something to her. “I do not owe you an explanation about who I have lunch with,” I replied curtly, but Cynthia wasn't going to leave me alone. "Then perhaps I should tell Alex that I saw you having lunch with a handsome man. You two seemed to be getting along quite well, it's a good thing I got a video of your precious moments." • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   045: Who Is Her Agent?

Alexander's POV Although I was rarely around, there was no denying the fact that something had changed about Heather. I really couldn't place my finger on what it was, but the air around her had changed significantly. She didn't disturb me like she normally would, and she came back home a lot later than she normally used to. And also the fact that she always had a brilliant smile on her face each time time she returned. At first I had believed that she was simply happy because I had come home, but lately it felt different. It felt as though that smile had not been for me, and I just couldn't get the thought out of my head. "Is everything okay, Mr Forger?" Came the distracting question from one of the executives present at the meeting table. It was a firm that I had once worked with and wished to rekindle our past relationship with the help of none other than Cynthia. "Yes, I'm perfectly fine." I replied, nodding with a forced smile. She mirrored my expressions before returning to t

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   046: Love You Properly

Heather's POV Running into Matt at the end of classes had been a reoccurring event since the first day he came to my school. And while he would always deny coming there willingly, I never called him out for it. I enjoyed his company, he was jovial, had a decent sense of humor, and knew how to keep me engaged in everything he did. "So do I finally get to drive you home, today?" He asked for the umpteenth time, and I had to reply with the words that I was certain he was sick of hearing already. "Another time, Matt, I can still use my legs." Matt rolled his eyes dramatically before leaning forward to plant a gentle kiss on my lips. "I'll see you tomorrow then?" He asked with a little smile on his face. "Of course," I replied, feeling a warmth spread through me. I had seen his lips approaching, I had read every bit of his body movement and knew for certain that he wanted to kiss me, yet I hadn't moved. Why?! Why didn't I push him away? Why didn't I tell him that this wasn't what

Alexander's POV I stared at Heather with stunned eyes, unsure of how to react to what she had told me. I suspected that something like that might be going on, but I never really imagined that it would be true. "It wasn't anything serious, I think he just missed my cheeks by accident." Heather explained in a rather frantic voice after she caught the look on my face. I knew for certain that he hadn't missed her cheeks by accident, and I knew that it was definitely something serious for whoever this Matt guy is. Heather might not take it seriously, if she was really committed to the relationship, I was certain she wouldn't let me know. However, I couldn't say the same for Matt who had no idea that Heather was married. "It..it's fine, Heather, I'm not mad at you." I finally replied after a full minute of silence. She had worked up the courage to tell me, and I was really grateful for that. At least she was better than me who couldn't even think of approaching her with the truth abou

Heather's POV I let the curtain fall and quickly moved to hide behind the wall the moment Alex's gaze nearly fell on me. My heart was still pounding in my chest, thanks to the unplanned moment we had a few minutes ago. I could still feel the slight tingles left over from then running through my body. It had come as a surprise to me, partly because I was still in a terrible mood with all that had been going on, but mostly because I had not really expected Alex to still have such interest towards me. The man was a notorious playboy, and he had the looks, money and charm to attract any lady he wanted. There was no doubt that he had been playing around with people far higher in value than I was, but for some reason he had continued to turn his sights on me. There was another problem in the picture still. Even though I had tried, I could not remove my mind from thinking about how Alex had gotten that lipstick on his cheek the other night. After he had gotten his ability to walk bac

Heather's POV I wiped down the marble counter of the kitchen for the umpteenth time, until I was finally able to see the reflection of the ceiling on its glistening surface. Looking around the rest of the kitchen which I had spent a majority of the past hour and a half cleaning, I smiled a little at the minor sense of accomplishment that rose within me at that. That did not last long though, once I remembered that I should not really be doing this after all. I was supposed to be the wife of this house, not one of the help. But circumstances had seemed to decide otherwise and my husband himself had agreed with it. I was not always upset with the situation, but every once in a while, I wondered what it would be like if I never had to deal with any of this. From the betrayal at the hands of those shallow, greedy thieves I used to call my parents, to my essential sale to the Forger family, and now to my role as a house maid in the home of Alexander Forger, all in an attempt to k

Alexander's POV The last thing I had expected to hear when I got up from bed was the fact that Cynthia could be a serial killer. This practically just told me that I had no idea who Cynthia really was, and it genuinely terrified me. But then again, there was a solid possibility that this man was lying. I highly doubted that he was being dishonest, but that was simply not enough to prove that he was lying. "You do not seriously think that I'll believe you, do you? I've only known you for like five minutes, and you expect me to believe that someone I've known for years is a mass murderer of old men?" I challenged, crossing my arms and staring Maxwell down. My voice was steady, but internally, I was grappling with a storm of doubt. As much as I wanted to dismiss his claim outright, there was no denying that Cynthia had definitely changed. She had many connections, and was bigger than I had imagined over the course of a year. I never really questioned her about her means of surviv

Alexander's POV "It's been a while, Alex. How have you been?" Cynthia inquired in her calm soothing voice. I didn't reply immediately, I was far too stunned to reply as quickly as I should have. How did she get my number? Why was she calling? What was going on? My thoughts were a chaotic mess as I stared at my phone, unsure of how to react to the shock of hearing her voice. "Alex?" she prompted, her voice pulling me back to the present, and only then did I realize that I might have been silent for a little too long. I cleared my throat, trying to steady myself. "Cynthia... it's unexpected to hear from you. I've been well, you?" "Well? Surely that's not all," she said with a small laugh that was all too familiar to my memories. "You did just regain your ability to walk after a year, Alex." "Oh," I said, trying my best to sound calm and collected even though I was anything but. My years of experience in hiding my true feelings helped me manage that. "You heard about that

Matthew's POV As a leader of a cartel, there was very little I could not have access to whenever I wanted. Women, money, wealth, there was no limit to the pleasures I could obtain. But at the end of the day, there was something that mattered far more to a man than all of that. Respect was something that could not be bought. It had to be earned, and I had gotten mine through blood and fear. I leaned back in the massive luxurious velvet sofa, hoping to enjoy the show that was currently being put on solely for my viewing pleasure. As I reclined back, several soft hands drifted across my bare chest, caressing my skin with expert seductiveness. My arms automatically extended to wrap around the two closest women at my sides before sliding down to touch them. Even though I felt absolutely nothing for them, they were very much aesthetically pleasant, pretty faces complete with curvy figures dressed in scandalously risque clothes. The multicolored lights on the ceiling above gave th
