Heather's POV

I had a strong feeling that Cynthia hadn't left even after she exited the restaurant, and I had been correct. The moment I was done with Matt, she had appeared out of nowhere and had intercepted my path.

"What?!" I snapped at her angrily. I knew what she was up to, and I was in no mood to play those games with her.

"So when were you going to tell Alex about your hot friend?" Cynthia asked just like I had expected she would. She crossed her arms dramatically, a sly grin slowly spreading across her face. Her tone was full of mockery, and I knew she wasn't going to leave me alone unless I said something to her.

“I do not owe you an explanation about who I have lunch with,” I replied curtly, but Cynthia wasn't going to leave me alone.

"Then perhaps I should tell Alex that I saw you having lunch with a handsome man. You two seemed to be getting along quite well, it's a good thing I got a video of your precious moments."

I felt my blood run cold the moment I heard the

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   001: You're Getting Married!

Heather's POV"What on earth do you think you're doing?! Who is going to pay these tuition fees?! You're twenty four already, Heather! You shouldn't be wasting your life in college, get married and free this family of one burden already!" My father, Uriel Stone, yelled before tossing the envelope I had given him across the room. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself?! Leaching off your parents at this age! And now you have the guts to push your fees on us?"I remained still, tears slowly welling up in my eyes. I knew it was stupid of me to ask my parents for help after everything they've done for me, but I was in a tight position and they were the only people who I could ask for help. I worked multiple part time jobs, and had been able to pay for my tuition fee for the past years. This was my last year in college, and the fees were a lot bigger than what I had anticipated. I had saved up half of it, and needed the remaining half of the money. My parents weren't wealthy, if anything I'd say

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   002: Home!

Heather's POV I had thought everything my mother said was part of some big prank, but reality had struck when different cars pulled up in front of our house at dusk. I only needed one glance to tell me that these weren't ordinary people, and my fear had been confirmed when I laid eyes on Logan Forger, the wealthiest man in the entire city. "Welcome, Mr Forger—""Let's not waste any time, where is she?" Logan interjected before my father had the chance to properly welcome him.."Here she is, Heather Stone, my beautiful daughter." Father replied with a bright smile as he walked over to where I stood with a hung head. "Raise your head, child, I don't have time to play around." Logan commanded and I obeyed promptly. Even though I had spent the last thirty minutes crying out my eyes, mother had made sure she had covered my swollen eyes with makeup. Not once had she allowed me to put on makeup, to her it was a waste of money, but today had been different. "She's a beauty, isn't she?" F

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   003: New Wife

Alexander's POV"A bride?!" I inquired as I slowly reached for my wheelchair. I had heard that my father had been up to something, but getting me another wife was not what I had intended. This was the third time in less than a year, and at this point it had become insulting and rude. I didn't need a bride, and I definitely didn't need him going out and picking random women off the streets for me anytime he pleased. Getting onto my wheelchair, I wheeled myself towards his bedroom, where I knew he would be. The tires of my wheelchair squeaked faintly against the polished floor. He could tell I was coming, and while I wished I could be more discreet, I unfortunately did not have the leisure to make that decision.Reaching his room, I pushed open his door with unrestrained rage to meet him sitting at his desk, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied smirk on his face. “Alex—” he greeted casually, as though he hadn’t just upended my life for the third time in less than a year. “I was

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   004: I Can Help You

Alexander's POV I glared at the lady in front of me, unsure of what to make of the words she had just said. Could she not see that I was crippled? Or had she been forced to play this act by my father? "I have nothing to give you, can't you see that?" I laid out for her just in case she couldn't see that I was in a wheelchair. "If you want a child, I can't give you that. I don't know who you are, and I'm sure you don't know anything about me beyond the magazines. So what is it? What do you want? Money? How much did my father pay you—"I paused the moment I saw tears trickling down from her face. She was crying, but why? Had my words been too harsh, or was she shedding tears for a completely different reason. Perhaps she was crying at how miserable the man she had been forced to marry was. It wasn't the first time I've seen this, and it definitely wouldn't be the last.I wheeled closer to her, determined to find out why she was crying. "What is it? What's the matter with you now?" I

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   005: Hope....

Heather's POV I wheeled Alexander into the doctor's office with a faint smile on my face. We had been married for a week, and while it had not been a complete bliss, things weren't as bad as I had imagined. It was difficult to please Alexander, he was angry most of the time, but deep down I knew he was a good man. His attitude had merely changed because of his accident, but I was hoping things would be different after today. It had taken me a whole week to convince him to come here. He barely left home ever since his accident, and whenever he did he always made sure to wear a disguise. He was clearly ashamed of the man he had become, but I planned to change that."This better work." Alexander nagged as we entered the doctor's office. Dr Harrington was one of my lecturers back at college, and he was a renowned orthopedist. Compared to the others that Alexander had probably been to, he might seem mediocre, but I was almost positive that Dr Harrington would help Alexander in a way that

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   006: Awake

Alexander's POV I woke up to the strong smell of antiseptic and an odd sensation in my legs—"My legs!!" My mind rampaged as my eyes immediately swung open. Swiftly, I sat up on the bed, almost scaring the nurses that had come to check up on me, and also waking Heather who seemed to be asleep. "Alexander..." She called out weakly, a faint smile forming on her lips. "Heather...my legs...I..I can feel them..." Heather's dull eyes lightened a bit with joy. "You can feel them?" she asked with a smile. I could already tell that she knew that my surgery was successful, but still wanted to play along with my reaction."Yes!" I thundered excitedly, my hands gripping the edge of the hospital bed as I willed my legs to move. It was faint, just the slightest twitch, but it was there and it had been painful. I didn't care, if anything, the pain felt exhilarating. For a whole year I hadn't been able to move these limbs. But now I could, I could feel pain, I felt complete...One of the nurses,

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   007: Questions and Answers

Alexander's POV The last seven days were undoubtedly the longest and most boring seven days of my entire life. Sure, I had company whenever Heather was around, but the moment she was gone it felt like a graveyard here. There was nothing to do but lie down and stare at the ceilings all day long. And when I wasn't staring at the ceiling, I was glaring at the setting sun on my wheelchair, wondering when I'd be able to stand and watch it like I used to before. However, today was the day I was to be discharged. And after completing my check up, and the necessary documents, I was wheeled towards the awaiting car outside by Heather who had come extra early today. She was a cheerful and hardworking lady, and although we barely knew anything about each other at the moment, I had a feeling that things would change the moment I got back home. It felt good to feel the bright morning sun on my skin once again, but above all it felt good to be going home. The happiness was evident, the smile on m

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   043: A Date II

Cynthia's POV The last person I had expected Alexander's wife to be with was Matthew Forger! Not only that, they both seemed to be having a good time with each other, and if I wasn't mistaken, had possibly come here for a date. What's going on? Do they know each other? Or was I simply seeing things?! No, I was definitely not hallucinating, the shocked expressions on both Mathew and Heather's face was enough to tell me that I wasn't seeing things. They could both see me, and it was clear that they hadn't expected to meet me here. I sat still for a moment, unsure if I should stand up and approach them, or simply pretend like I hadn't seen them at all. I wanted to go with the latter, but curiosity killed the cat. Rising from my seat, I approached Heather, completely ignoring Mathew. Heather was the reason I was here, I knew she passed through this route whenever she was going home, and I had planned to intercept her and have a word, but I hadn't expected her to come here with M

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   042: A Date

Mathew's POV "Heather Stone." I read out from the ID that Viktor had slipped out of her purse two days ago. She had caught my eyes the moment I saw her inside the mall. She was a pretty lady, and there was something about her that had immediately caught my eyes. Determined to know more about her, I had sent Viktor to pretend to be a purse snatcher so that I could get some info on her. Viktor had already taken the ID out of her purse before I knocked him down and retrieved the purse. She was a student according to her ID card, and that definitely came as a surprise. Nothing about her screamed the fact that she might be a student, and that even made me more intrigued. "Are you really going after a girl you met two days ago?" Viktor inquired with a surprised look on his face as we parked in the school's parking lot. "Maybe." I returned curtly before stepping out of the car. "Stay put, I don't want you to ruin this for me with your stuck up attitude." Viktor only gave me a small smil

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   041: Grocery Shopping

Heather's POV Grocery shopping was something I did once a week, and it was one of the few times I had to leave the house besides school. Strapping my purse to my side, I stepped out of the house with a smile. I turned to the car parked by the side, I hadn't had the chance to learn how to drive, and each time I saw Alex's gift wasting, I felt sad. He had promised to teach how to drive soon, but he was always too busy for something as tedious as driving lessons. Letting out a sigh, I walked towards the main road to flag down a taxi. A part of me preferred taking a taxi to driving a car. I knew that driving such a luxurious car would do nothing but pull attention towards me, and attention was the last thing Alex and I wanted. After ten minutes of sitting in complete silence, the taxi finally came to a halt in front of the city mall. It was usually busy during the weekends, and a packed mall was a haven for pickpockets and purse snatchers. Though I hadn't been a victim, it wasn't dif

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   040: A Promise

Mathew's POV "That son of a bitch!" I spat the moment announced the news to me. More than a dozen of my men had been arrested at last night's raid of the Black Box, and I had no doubt in my mind that this was Logan Forger's doing. This was payback for burning his warehouses. He clearly was no longer the coward he used to be, and that had clearly become a serious problem. "I'll kill him! I'll fucking kill that bastard!" I rampaged, throwing everything in sight and smashing anything that was too heavy to lift and launch at the wall. "He's playing with me! He's fucking playing with me." "Give me an order, I'll make sure he pays for this!" Viktor demanded calmly, though the rage he felt at that moment was difficult to conceal. He was shaking, seething with rage. His cousin had been one of the apprehended members, and this wasn't a raid done by the police. The fucking army were involved, the state military, it wasn't a case I could simply resolve with power. If anything, it was probab

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   039: Payback

Logan's POV It had become clear that Mathew wanted war, and there was no way in hell that I was going to back away from this fight. He had crossed a line, one that I simply couldn't ignore. I had done my best to keep things subtle between us simply of guilt and the fact that he was family. They had called it cowardice, but I didn't care, I didn't listen to what anybody said, I just wanted to keep my son and my company alive. But now that Mathew had directly threatened the two things I cared about the most, there was no way I was going to sit still and let it slide. I knew exactly where to hit Mathew hard, and I was not going to let this opportunity slide. His cartel was a large one, and Matthew Forger had a big reputation in the underground business world. His cartel was mostly responsible for the sale of transportation of goods in the black market, and I had inside info that they were transferring illegal merchandise into the city tonight. While I had no idea what the produc

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   038: An Alliance

Alexander's POV The news of Logan Forger's burnt warehouses was on the front page of every newspaper and magazine in the city. I hadn't really expected that my father would listen to my threats and risk having his entire business destroyed by Mathew, but apparently that had been the case. However, I knew it wasn't going to be long before he called me and demanded something else in return for this. The Logan Forger I knew was never going to let something like this slide. And as for Mathew, he had shown that he was capable of keeping his threats. He was clearly dangerous, and it had become obvious that he was going to be a tough shell to crack. He was beginning to make moves that might cause serious trouble for me in the long run. "Come back to bed, Al. Why do you have to leave so early?" Cynthia grumbled sleepily. I paid her no attention as I hurriedly put on my clothes. "I have matters that I have to attend to." I replied curtly, straightening my morning hair as well as searchi

  • The Billionaire's Secret Wife   037: Warnings And Precautions

Alexander's POV The last thing I had expected to hear from Heather was Cynthia's name, or the fact that she had actually shown up at our doorstep. I had been careless and inattentive to the fact that she could have been following me. Safety precautions had slipped my mind the moment I received Heather's text. The only thing that had been on my mind back then was getting to her and making sure she was safe. Cynthia had exploited that moment, and had made good use of it. "She's... someone I'm working with on a contract." I replied after a minute of silence and confusion. However, Heather was not particularly satisfied or pleased by my answer. I could tell she recognized Cynthia from the restaurant, and there was the possibility that Cynthia had already said things that would suggest to Heather that our relationship wasn't just work related only. "Is that all? Because she didn't look or sound like a simple work colleague, Al!" Heather referring to me as 'Al' was all I needed to fi
