THE NEWS

Edgar held the hand of Elissa, who was still lying on the bed. Desmond and Ira sat behind them. Both of them held hands, strengthening each other. They did not expect this to happen at all.

Desmond stared wide-eyed. Her eyes were red. Her breathing was laboured. The veins on her forehead were very visible. Desmond did not remove his gaze from Elissa at all. He did not even lean his body on the sofa. He sat up straight as if he was facing a trial.

Ira gripped her husband's hand even tighter. His other hand rubbed Desmond's back. Ira knew best that her husband was really looking forward to his future grandchild. Not a day goes by without him discussing a good name to give to his future grandchild. Every night, before going to bed, Desmond always imagined he could travel abroad and raise his grandchild in a country with the best education system. But now, it was all just a hope.
