Chapter 54 Defying The Boss

A while later, Lisa's car pulled up to Layla's house, its engine humming softly as she parked it near the curb. Stepping out, Lisa made her way to the front door, her hand reaching out to knock. The sound echoed through the entrance, and soon Layla swung the door open, her face breaking into a smile at the sight of her friend.

"It's been a while Lisa, I didn't think you still knew the way to my house," Layla said, feigning anger.

"Of course I do. I just have a whole lot on my plate. Moreover, it was quite annoying that you suddenly left the last time," Lisa replied with a sigh.

'Lisa, I did send you a text informing you that my mom was sick. I must admit I'm a bit upset that you didn't reach out to me or even reply to that text." Layla expressed her frustration in return.

"Well, Layla, sorry about that. I hope your mom is okay now," Lisa said casually, grabbing a bottle of water and taking a nonchalant sip.
