CHAPTER NINETY ONE

NORA

I paced the sitting room aimlessly. I had just dropped the call with Edmund and had walked down the sitting room. I couldn't see the maids around. I knew as well that the ones who were placed in charge of my kids were still there with them.

I continued pacing the sitting room while chewing my fingers. Soon, one of the maids who was passing by stopped in front of me. She had a smile on her face, and I furrowed my brow at her.

Why was she smiling when she could see that I was bothered?

"What is the matter?" I asked her rudely.

At first, I thought it was something about what had happened before. I couldn't just help but think that her smiles in their situation had something to do with Aiden sending me away at first.

"You are worried about your husband, right?" Her calm voice interrupted my thoughts.

I lowered my eyes and nodded gently.

"Yes," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

She sighed deeply and approached me, still wearing a smile on her face.
