“Stay with me tonight,” Lily whispered, clutching Tony’s arms like he would disappear if she let him go. “You want us to spend the night together. Are you sure about this?” Tony asked, a small smile making its way to his lips. Lily was always running from him and avoiding times like this, but here she was suggesting that they spend the night together. Lily’s eyes widened, and her cheeks reddened as she finally understood his words. “I didn’t mean it like that!” She gasped, letting go of his hands and shaking her head to get rid of the obscene thoughts. Seeing her flushed face, Tony laughed. “I was only teasing you, Lily. I know you didn’t mean it in that way.” He clarified, chuckling at her. He then brought his fingers to her face and caressed her cheek, his eyes holding sincerity. “That doesn’t mean it isn’t going to happen one day and believe me, Lily, that day is near.” He whispered as his thumb brushed her lip and Lily’s breath hitched, butterflies erupting in her bel
“Martin is back, and he wants you at the hideout immediately. I think Drogo heard about the shootout you ordered.” Louis’s throat went dry, and he felt his heart jump out of his chest as he listened to the last part. He wasn’t as brave as he was when he ordered the shootout before getting confirmation from Martin, who was his superior. “H-how the fuck did that happen? Did anyone snitch?” He asked in an unstable voice. “No one needed to, man. It’s all over the news and everyone knows that you and Martin control this district. If Martin didn’t order the shootout, it means you did. It’s quite obvious.” The man over the phone replied. “Shit!” he exclaimed. “Come quickly. Drogo is angry.” The man said, and ended the call, leaving Louis to wallow in fear. He quickly put on his jacket, threw his phone into one of his pockets , grabbed his wallet and dashed out of his apartment. As he drove to the hideout, he searched his mind for a suitable lie that would get him out of the
Harriet’s mind raced with possibilities as she sat in front of her doctor, waiting to hear the results of her pregnancy test, which she had just taken. “Mrs Daniels. I am happy to inform you that you are three weeks pregnant.” The doctor said with a bright smile, and Harriet let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. “Oh!” She breathed out, her heart racing with joy and excitement. With a marriage like her and Damien’s, the last thing she could wish for was a child, but God had other plans for her. “T-thank you, doctor. Thank you so much.” She cried as she placed her hand on her chest, unable to contain her happiness. She could not wait to tell her husband, Damien, this great news. As Harriet hurried to leave the hospital, all she could think about was how this child in her womb would be a turning point for her and Damien’s failing marriage. As much as she hated to admit it, it was true. In their three years of marriage, Harriet has never felt the joy of marriage.
“This isn’t possible!” She yelled. It was a picture of her and Adrian lying naked in each other’s arms on a bed. From the picture angle, it looked like they were being intimate. Adrian towered above her, and the lady underneath him resembled her. She had never slept in the same room as Adrian, so how was this possible? Someone set her up! With a frown, Harriett defended herself. “This isn’t true. It can’t be!” Damien didn’t want to hear any explanation from her. He felt betrayed, and the only thing he wanted was for her to leave his life. “The picture is pretty clear, Harriett. Don’t you think you should give up? You must’ve thought you could keep it a secret forever. Why didn’t you marry Adrian if you loved him so much? Instead, you’d rather go behind me and sleep with him.” Damien shot back, his voice not faltering. “I don’t love Adrian. I never have. Why would I agree to marry you if I was in love with your brother?” Harriett asked in a whisper, hot tears slipping out of her
Later that night, Harriet tossed and turned on her lonely bed. It was already 1am but, she couldn’t get herself to sleep no matter how hard she tried. Whenever she closed her eyes, all she could hear was Damien accusing her of cheating with none other than Adrian and also asking for a divorce. Her eyes were red and swollen from crying throughout the whole day. She needed comfort from someone because her heart felt like it would explode but, her husband wasn’t home. After leaving in the afternoon, he never returned home and Harriet knew that he was spending the night at Evelyn’s place. She wasn’t surprised. This was a regular occurrence. The next morning as Harriet sat at the breakfast table…alone as always, a strange thought came to her, one that gave her a tiny last hope. She wanted to fight for her marriage for the last time. She thought that he must be too angry to process everything and she wanted to explain with a last-ditch effort to try and save their marriage. She nee
Damien sat in the private room of an expensive club together with his best buddy, Eric. He had been staying at a hotel since he left the house as he didn’t want to see the face of his cheating wife. His grey-colored eyes narrowed at his drink as he clenched his jaws before gulping the entire glass of whiskey. His eyes lingered on the empty glass before he finally opened his mouth. “Harriett cheated…with Adrian. I’m getting a divorce.” There was an eerie silence, and Damien had to raise his head to look at his friend just to be sure he heard him. Eric had a blank expression on his face that made Damien wonder if he knew about it. “Wait. You’re being serious?” Eric asked when he saw that Damien wasn’t joking. A chuckle escaped his lips, and he sipped from his glass. “Did you catch them in the act?” Eric asked, placing the glass at the tip of his lips, and Damien shook his head. “No. Someone caught them and sent the picture to me.” Damien said through gritted teeth, but Eric sta
“I’m sorry to disturb you, Ma’am, but your friend is here to see you.” The maid said, poking her head into the room. She knocked but realized Harriet wouldn’t open up since she had been in a bad mood lately. “A friend?” Harriet asked in a low voice that almost went unheard by the maid. ‘Who could it be?’ She thought and dashed out without waiting for the maid to finish her sentence. When she arrived at the sitting room, she was both confused and angry as she saw Evelyn James, her husband’s mistress, sitting on the sofa with her legs crossed. “Evelyn? What are you doing here?” Harriet struggled to maintain her calm. How could she when she was in the presence of the woman who ruined her marriage? “Harriet! Good to see you! I know you are shocked by my visit, especially with everything happening.” Evelyn said, faking a sad expression at the latter part of her sentence. Harriet was mad! Red with anger and furious. She had barely recovered from the divorce, and now Evelyn was
As Damien pulled the divorce papers out, he noticed a small object in the envelope, and when he brought it out, his face saddened as he saw that it was their wedding ring. “She went this far?” He muttered, accessing the ring on his finger before looking at the shiny diamond ring his father got for her. Damien went from heartbroken to angry in two seconds, and before he could stop himself, he signed the papers. He felt like he lost this battle to her when she was at fault. How could she have signed the papers before he did? Yes, he mentioned the divorce to her and disappeared for a few days, but couldn’t she wait to hear from him before processing the divorce? Damien was confused. He was supposed to be relieved with her gone, but why did his chest feel tight instead? It’s not like he ever loved her. Right? His father would be furious with him if he were to find out. But then, he could always tell them that she cheated. That’s what happened, after all. He was no devi
