JACKSON
~•~ After successfully getting Kimberly to sign the divorce papers, I went downstairs to grab a bite before heading back to the hotel where I left Paige and my son. It was hard letting Kimberly go but I had to do it because Paige was back and she requested I divorce Kimberly or else she would move back to Chicago. Paige and I were engaged even before Kimberly came into the picture, but we had to call it off because her parents requested she move to Chicago to manage their business. Paige and I were already having minor issues and we both agreed we couldn’t do long distance, so we had to go our separate ways. I was surprised when I ran into Paige some days back at the restaurant during lunch and was even more surprised when she revealed to me that she was pregnant when she left for Chicago. I had informed my mother about Paige’s arrival five days ago. She was excited about her return and also at the fact that she had a grandson all this while. My mother and sister also advised me to divorce Kimberly. I had been stalling for days because I didn’t want to hurt her, but I finally brought myself to do it because I wasn’t in love with her. I couldn’t let my guard down or bring myself to love her throughout our three years of marriage because I always hoped Paige would return to my life. Kimberly was a good woman but the woman I loved was back in my life and I couldn’t ignore her. I texted my mother to let her know Kimberly had signed the divorce papers before going back to the hotel. My phone flashed with a text as I drove into the hotel. I parked the car and unlocked it to see a text from my secretary through the notifications. [Are you going to come in today?] I hadn’t been to the company for some days because I was spending time with my son. I wasn’t aware he existed and I wanted to get to know him better. [I won’t be coming in today.] I responded before heading out of the car. “Have you given her the divorce papers yet?” Paige asked as soon as I walked into the suite. I had left earlier in the morning to give Kimberly the papers. “Yes, I have,” I responded and a small smile crept to her lips. “I’m all yours now,” I pulled her closer to me. “So when is she moving out of the house?” Paige pulled away and looked at me. “Stop spoiling the fun.” I sighed. “I asked her to leave before I returned in the evening.” “Asher and I are moving in today, right?” Paige asked and I nodded. She had been wanting to move in since but I couldn’t have both women under one roof at the same time. I asked Kimberly to leave the house because I wanted Paige and our son to finally move in with me. I was also tired of staying at the hotel. “Come here,” I whispered, pulling her close to me. “I missed you,” I said, giving her a seductive wink. Paige was about to say something but I kissed her to shut her up. My eyes ran around her body hungrily and I couldn’t wait to have her. I wanted to make up for all those times we lost. I lifted her and she wrapped her legs around my waist. I took her to the couch and dropped her off on the couch. “Asher is sleeping over there.” She said her voice barely above a whisper. She was referring to our son who was on the other side of the suite. “I’ll be quiet.” I knelt before her and gave her a crooked smile as I undressed her. When I was done, I took off my shirt and started trailing kisses all over her body while she let out silent moans. As I circled her clit with my thumb and kissed her thighs, she let out a gasp. All of a sudden, my phone rang, interrupting the moment. I groaned, ignoring the noise. “I’ll ignore it,” I whispered but Paige pushed me slightly. “You should take it.” She suggested, her voice barely audible. I stood up and pulled my phone out of my trousers. It was the house help calling. What was she calling me for? “Kimberly just passed out, sir. You should come to the house as soon as possible,” Caro said, a hint of fear and urgency in her voice. Kimberly was meant to be packing her boxes and leaving my house. Was this some sort of a sick prank to make me rethink my decision? “Ask Arthur to take her to the hospital.” I didn’t care to know why she supposedly fainted because I didn’t have time for her silly games. Arthur was one of my drivers and I trusted him to take care of everything. After that, I hung up the call and was about to continue with Paige when I heard footsteps walking towards us. Paige quickly dressed up and I walked to Asher, meeting him halfway. “Look who is finally awake,” I said as I ruffled his brown hair. Asher was still trying to adjust to having me as his father. He wasn’t completely comfortable around me. I was a bit worried but Paige assured me he would come around eventually. “Can I have something to eat?” He asked his mother as he walked past me. She took him downstairs to the hotel restaurant while I stayed back in the suite. I checked in with my secretary to see how things were going at the office. After that, I called my accountant to transfer some money to Kimberly’s account as I had promised her. A few minutes later, I got a call from my sister. “You need to get to the hospital as soon as possible.” Emily’s voice echoed from the other side of the line as I answered the call. “What?” I asked, a hint of confusion in my voice. “Get to the hospital to do what?” “It’s Kimberly, the doctors requested for you,” Emily replied. “Mom and I are on our way there.” With that, she hung up the call. I was quite confused because Kimberly was doing perfectly fine before I left the house. So I didn’t see any reason for her to need any serious medical attention. I dressed up, then waited for Paige and Asher to return before telling her I needed to leave for the hospital. Paige insisted on going with me to the hospital.KIMBERLY ~•~I found myself in an unfamiliar room when I opened my eyes. The last thing I remembered was being in the room with Emily and her mother. The sterile smell and beeping machines brought back memories of my countless visits to fertility clinics with Jackson, searching for answers to our struggles of making a baby. But I hadn’t been admitted to the hospital in forever. My mind raced with different questions about how I ended up in the hospital. Finally, the door creaked open, revealing a doctor who had some files in her hand. “Mrs Clarke, you’re finally awake.” She said with a big smile as she walked towards me. I wanted to correct her but I didn’t want anyone to know Jackson had just given me divorce papers earlier in the morning. “Who brought me here?” I asked, trying to sit up straight on the bed but the doctor stopped me right away. “You need to rest for a little while.” She instructed as he gently pushed me back. “A young woman brought you in.” She was referring
KIMBERLY~•~Jackson didn’t even let me respond before he left the hospital room, leaving me alone to wonder how the hell he changed overnight. It seemed like he was done with me and I didn’t even do anything wrong! For the second time that day, I started sobbing uncontrollably. I couldn’t believe what was happening to me. How did I find out I was pregnant right after signing my divorce papers? Was life playing a cruel joke on me?When the doctor came back in, I was forced to clean my tears. The doctor looked at me sympathetically but didn’t say anything more about my situation. After letting me know that nothing was wrong with me and that I just needed to rest well, I was discharged a few hours later.I laughed bitterly. I was getting discharged yet there was no one to carry me home. I wasn’t even sure where home was at that moment.I knew Jackson said I shouldn’t go back to his place but I couldn’t help myself. I had the papers to prove my pregnancy. Maybe I could get through to him
KIMBERLY~•~Not wanting to add to my embarrassment, I left the house before the guards could throw me out. It had been a very long day and I needed rest before I would think about what to do next.I hated the situation I was in. I hated Jack for treating me the way he did, but I couldn’t do anything about it. I hated Paige for ruining my marriage. I even hated her son for being born! It was because of his existence Jackson divorced me. I didn’t know where to start and how.Wiping my tears, I found another taxi and went to my parent’s place. Jackson said my stuff would be waiting for me there. I didn’t know how he could be so cruel to throw me out like that without even giving me time to prepare myself to face my parents. The ride back to my parent’s house was short. It seemed like the universe was not done laughing at me because when I arrived home, I saw all my suitcases outside the door. I frowned. Were my parents not home when my stuff was dropped off?Moving them to the side, I k
KIMBERLY ~•~Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on my face, making me realize that I hadn’t closed the curtains before I slept last night.I blinked repeatedly and tried to adjust to the brightness. With a yawn, I sat up on the bed and looked around. It was empty and my suitcases were by the side, reminding me about all that happened yesterday. My heart ached as I realized how much had changed.I was no longer waking up in my husband’s house as Mrs Kimberly Clarke. I was crashing at my friend’s place because I had nowhere to go, not even my childhood home.I shook my head, not wanting to think about that so early in the morning. I took a quick shower and threw on a pair of sweatpants and a loose sweater, hoping to find comfort in the soft fabric. For a second, I considered taking it off since it was bought with Jackson’s money, but I thought better of it. I didn’t have much to my name. If I had to change my wardrobe, I’d go broke immediately.I stepped into th
KIMBERLY~•~I didn’t know if I was stupid or brave, but I found myself standing in front of Jackson’s company. We hadn’t properly talked after I found out I was pregnant and I wanted to try one last time. I wanted to know what our new dynamic would be. I had accepted the fact that we were now divorced, but I wanted to know what it would be like for our child.I looked down at myself. I was dressed in an elegant red dress and a pair of silver heels. My makeup covered every trace of crying the previous nights. I looked good, far from what I felt inside but I acted like all was fine.I took a deep breath and walked into the building. I had come here a lot, but this was the first time I was coming in as Jackson’s ex-wife. Luckily for me though, his employees didn’t know about that yet.“Good morning, Mrs. Clarke.” The receptionist greeted and I didn’t bother to correct her. “Mr. Clarke should just be rounding up a meeting. You can go up.”I smiled politely and took the elevator to the t
JACKSON~•~As I led Paige away from Kimberly, I felt very bad, but that was the only right thing to do in that situation. Paige was the mother of my child and if things went according to plan, she would bear more of my children. I couldn’t watch her being hit by another woman, even if that woman was my ex-wife.Kimberly, on the other hand, was acting very strange. She used to be the sweetest woman ever, which was why I agreed to our marriage, but since I told her we should get divorced, she was acting like a different person. She had turned… vile. She was even willing to go through the trouble of lying that she was pregnant. That wasn’t the Kim I knew. We were married for three years and she never conceived. How come she was suddenly with a child after signing divorce papers? I didn’t know if she genuinely needed help from a professional at this point.“Jack, are you even listening to me?” Paige’s voice reached my ears.“Yeah, I’m listening.” I lied because Paige could be a handful.
KIMBERLY~•~FIVE YEARS LATERMy feet were hurting in my heels but as always, I faked a smile, walking into the building.“Hey, Kimberly.” One of my colleagues greeted me. I flashed a smile at them.“Hey, Kim.”“Kimberly.”“Good job, Kim.”“Another case under your belt, Kimberly, good job.”The praises were coming from left and right and they were almost overwhelming. My face almost hurt from smiling too much. My cheeks were flushed because of too many compliments. After a few years, I should have gotten used to it but it felt surreal every time I came out of the courtroom and went back to my office.“Well, if it isn’t the famous Attorney Watson who has never lost a case in the whole of her career. The first intern to get assigned a case only after three months.”I rolled my eyes as my boss, George, approached me. “Spare me, please.” I laughed as I fell in step with him and we approached the elevator. “The case was a tough one and I should be at home resting but as always, you can’t d
Chapter 11~•~KIMBERLY~•~It wasn’t the first time I was going with my boss on a business trip, but it was the first time I was nervous about it.I had a week to prepare myself, but nothing could prepare me for going back to New York. Well, nothing except fake confidence, that is. It was Amelia’s first time on a plane and she had been very scared but after the takeoff, she was more than excited to look out the window and started pouting when we had to exit the plane.I carried her on one arm while George dragged our suitcases behind me. I offered to carry mine but he didn’t let me and just told me to focus on the little devil in my arms.We walked for a bit before we finally spotted Reiya and as soon as Amelia saw her, she scrambled to get off me and ran towards her. “Aunt Ree!” She yelled out as they met halfway and Reiya carried her, spinning her around.“Did you miss me, baby?”Amelia nodded. I rolled my eyes. They had seen each other like three weeks ago. It wasn’t that serious.
JACKSON~•~“Will Skye’s sister attend your party?” My ears perked up when I heard Asher questioning Amelia.“I don’t know,” Amelia responded. “Stop distracting me.”I held back a laugh at her frustration. She was trying on several dresses to see the one she was going to wear at her birthday party and she called us in to model the dresses for us.“Why didn’t you ask her?”“I want Skye at my party and I don’t care about her sister. Why didn’t you invite her to your party when you had one?”A blush crept up Asher’s face. “We weren’t friends then.” Whoever Skye’s sister was, I could tell that Asher had a crush on her, which was why he was bugging Amelia about it, meanwhile the poor girl just wanted her seven-year-old birthday to be perfect.“What’s Skye’s sister's name?”The two kids turned to me when they heard my question and Asher cleared his throat as though he was just realizing I was in the room with them. I wasn’t even surprised he was already having crushes. He was eleven years
KIMBERLY~•~I waited for only a few seconds before Jackson came in, pushing a trolley that contained only one plate. I arched an eyebrow at him and he chuckled. “We’ll start with appetizers first.” He explained and I took his word for it. He transferred the plate from the trolley to the table and stood beside me, waiting for me to open it.“Aren’t you eating?” I questioned, wondering why he was acting weird.“I will. I just want to know if you like it first.”I shook my head. He was so eager for compliments. Decoding to give him what he wanted, I removed the cover of the plate and my eyes widened immediately.I gasped and my hand flew to my mouth to stop myself from screaming. When I looked back at Jackson, he was already on one knee. I looked back at the plate in front of me. It was more of a dessert than an appetizer. It was a piece of chocolate cake and the words “Will you marry me?” were written on the plate using icing.I had suspected it could be a proposal but I waved it off
KIMBERLY~•~For the first time in a million years, Jackson was taking me out on a date. It was an impromptu one at that and when I told him I didn’t have anything to wear, he told me we would visit the mall first. Apparently, he already had everything planned and all I had to do was show up.I kind of liked that. Caro was back so she could look after the kids and we were free to spend as much time as we could outside.“Mommy, where are you going?” Amelia whined when she came into my room and saw me putting on my make-up.“Nowhere, baby.” I knew if I told her I was going out with her father, she’d want to come too. She couldn’t just stay back and let me leave alone with her father. “But you have lipstick!”“I’m going to work.”She frowned, creases forming on her forehead. “But you already went to work in the morning. It’s not morning anymore.”I sighed. “It’s a special meeting, Amelia. Why don’t you go and play with your brother? I won’t take long.”“No.” She shook her head. “Asher i
JACKSON~•~We were getting ready to go to the store when I heard the doorbell rang. It was a Saturday and we weren’t expecting anyone. Most of the workers weren’t in the house so I went downstairs to get the door. Before I could get there, the doorbell rang again. With a sigh, I pulled open the door, surprised to see Mr and Mrs. Watson. What were Kimberly’s parents doing here? It wasn’t like they weren’t welcome to visit. It was just weird that they didn’t inform us before coming. “Good morning, sir, Ma’am.” I stepped aside to let them in. “Kimberly is taking a shower. She’ll be down soon.”They nodded. “Sorry for barging in on you guys.” Her father spoke while his wife stayed silent, staring at her feet like a child who had been scolded.“It’s fine. You’re family. Take a seat. I’ll get you something to drink.”“Water is fine.”I nodded and went into the kitchen to get two bottles of water and cups for them. After setting it in front of them, I went back upstairs to our bedroom just
KIMBERLY~•~It was crazy how easy it was to win the people’s favor again. The same people who bashed and condemned you were always ready to start singing praises for you as soon as things turned around. They were so fucking hypocritical and even if it was a good thing, it annoyed me how easily the masses started defending Jackson’s company after stressing him for four whole days.Jackson’s visit to the prison hadn’t been fruitless. He had gotten substantial evidence from Emily. She had recorded a conversation between herself and Chris (I still couldn’t believe he orchestrated this whole thing by the way. Jackson had warned me about him but I ignored it even if I never spoke with him after that) and the tips she gave Jackson made their investigation smoother. They didn’t release any statements until they had a lot of evidence to back up their words which I commended them for. Jackson was smart as hell because an hour after his press conference ended, people were already defending his
JACKSON~•~I sat on a chair in a dimly lit room, waiting for the girl I grew up with as my sister.Sometimes, I felt bad for her that she was living in such a place; that she was locked up here, but then I’d remember the evil things she did just because she didn’t like Kimberly for me.It would have been slightly different if her actions were justified but Kimberly didn’t even do anything to her. Kimberly barely even retaliated or she would be in much worse trouble. After waiting for a few minutes, the door to the room finally opened and an officer led Emily in. She was still handcuffed, but luckily for her, they freed her of the handcuffs before leaving.I appraised her form. “You have gotten thinner.” Emily had always been obsessed with maintaining a thin form, going on several diets as many times as she could to make sure she stayed fit.“The food is ass in here.” She scoffed and sat down in front of me with a table diving us.“You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t make stupid decisi
JACKSON~•~After talking to the ‘sick old man’ the previous day, I was able to get in touch with one of the people who also testified against me. After threatening to make sure they lost everything they had, they finally confessed and said someone met them a day before to tell them to testify. From the description, I was able to pinpoint them at once. Christian Walsh’s secretary. However, I didn’t have proof just yet. Christian and I were business rivals but I never knew he would stoop as low as defaming my company. It was way too low.I didn’t know why he did it but I didn’t care to find out, I was working on tracking his secretary’s whereabouts, hoping to find footage of him meeting the witness.“He visited the hospital three days ago,” Jeffrey commented, reading from his phone most likely a text. “Maybe if we can get footage from inside the hospital, we can see him entering the guy’s room.”“That’s a good idea.” I nodded. “Also find a way to get the man’s hospital file. I want to
KIMBERLY~•~Jackson hadn’t been gone for two hours when another video of him started trending again. It was from the same man and he had started recording claiming he was going to show the world Jackson’s true colors. After that, Jackson stood up and got out of the room, along with his secretary trailing behind him.It didn’t show anything odd but the fact that Jackson left as soon as the man started recording made him look shady. I hated the fact that a lot of strangers on the internet were giving their opinions based on a ten-second video while they knew nothing about him in real life.I was worried as hell. He was under fire on the Internet and I couldn’t reach him or his secretary. I tried to engage the kids but I found my mind straying to Jackson every few minutes. When my phone rang, I scrambled for it only to find out that it wasn’t Jackson calling but it was just my mother. I sighed. I had already spoken to her this morning. What more did she want from me?Knowing that woman,
JACKSON~•~I’d never been a patient man but there was a different degree of impatience running through my veins as Jeffrey drove us to the hospital the sick man was currently at. I’d managed to push it to the back of my mind during breakfast but as soon as the meal was over and Jeffrey knocked on my door, I dipped. I didn’t even have enough time to say bye to my family. Amelia was probably going to rant about how much I didn’t care about her but I could handle that later.Thankfully, the hospital wasn’t very far from my house. When we arrived, I didn’t wait for Jeffrey to properly park before I got out of the car and headed straight for the entrance. I just wanted to get my answers. I wanted to meet the bedridden, cancer-driven man that was trending online. The nurses at the reception noticed me immediately but I didn’t bother to stop even when I saw them secretly bringing out their phones to record me. Jeffrey had found out the ward he was staying in so I went there straight up.I d
