I'm no better than her

“Hello.” I placed the phone on my right ear, and tapped impatiently on my table, waiting for her to talk, so we would get it out of the way.

“I saw her today,” she said, going straight to the point, not like I was expecting much from her. My mum only worries about me whenever I am sick or when she needs something. Those were the only times she played the mother card.

“Who?” I stopped tapping and sat up. “Lilith?” I sighed, puffing out an exasperated breath as I pinched the bridge of my nose. “Listen, mum. I will not do whatever you want. I won't take Lilith back. I have already decided on it, and there's no going back on my words. We are incompatible. I don't love her."

“Not her.” Her tone was calm. So calm, it made me wonder who it was that made her sound like it.

“Then who?”

“Nova.”
