Christopher

We laid on the bed, panting heavily. This had become quite regular of late. Within a week, I had seen Cassandra not less than four times, and on each occasion, we had sex. This had been going on for close to two months, since when the Amelia bitch returned. The reasons were obvious. But still, I needed her to admit them one day.

A few minutes later, she stood up from the bed and walked to the bathroom. I sat up on the bed.

“You still don’t want to tell me what’s going on between you and my brother?” I said, and I was very sure she rolled her eyes. She didn’t say a word, and I sighed. She was such a stubborn goat.

I picked up my phone to check some things when she came out.

“Haven’t I told you to keep your business out of my and your brother’s relationship?” She asked.

“You know I know this is because of Amelia, right?” I said, and her eyes changed that minute.

“Don’t dare mention that bitch’s name here.” She said, and I was shocked. What I saw in her eyes was scary. Her e

Amelia “Eric.. I also have my doubts. But… But I think this is different. I’m having a feeling that he means it this time.” I said, with the tiny hope within me that it wouldn’t crash. Oh dear God, I hoped I was right. He released a snicker instead, worsening my fears.“You only believe that because you want him to.”He said, and at this point, I got angry.“Are you insinuating that this is all some sort of hallucination?” I asked with a raised voice. Did he think I was just making this up?“No! No, that... that wasn’t what I meant. That wasn’t my intention in any way at all. Just relax and hear me out, Amelia.” He said immediately to clear out the misunderstanding. I sighed.“So what did you mean?” I asked with a questioning tone.“I’m just saying you should indeed be careful. That’s all. And it’s because I know the man, Lachlan Mallory, too well. Not like you aren’t worthy of his love. Actually, in the real sense, he is the one who’s lucky to be the man to win the heart of a pricele

Eric I sighed after talking with Amelia. My heart broke for her. She was so in love with the bastard. I wish she could see things from my point of view. Despite all she had been through, the hell the arsehole had put her through, she still wanted to give him a chance. A chance! I swirled around, racking my brain. The idiot was fast having my girl, and from Amelia’s response, I couldn’t counter such belief. Oh, heavens! There was a knock on my door, and Esmeralda walked in. I looked up, wondering what she had to tell me. “You have a visitor, sir,” she said, and I wondered who it was. I was expecting no one. And then it clicked. Was it that Cassie girl again? What did she want this time? “Is it that lady from the Mallorys?” “No, sir. But this visitor is also Mallory,” she said, and I groaned, rolling my eyes. “What does Lachlan want?” I asked in annoyance. “It’s Christopher Mallory, sir,” she said instead, and I widened my eyes in shock. What the hell does that lunat

Lachlan “Come in,” I said with my eyes fixed on the work I was doing on my system while I sat on my bed, responding to the knock on the door. I knew it must be Lillian, but I wondered what she wanted. The cleaning of the house usually started at eight, and this was just past seven. So I knew it must have been something urgent that could have brought her. “You’re busy?” I heard her voice instead and looked up in shock.“Babe., I said, still looking surprised. She walked up to me with a tray in her hands containing a cup of tea and toast. I placed my laptop on the bed, a bit farther from where I sat, as she drew close. “Good morning.” She said with a smile as she handed me the breakfast in her hands. I smiled as I collected them.“Thank you., I said in appreciation, and she nodded. We remained quiet for a while as I took my breakfast. I was indeed surprised she had brought me breakfast in bed. When I had returned from work yesterday, I had gone to see her, but she had withdrawn to

Lachlan I came out of the bathroom and met my wife arranging my clothes on the bed. What the hell? Why was she so desperate to run errands? I rushed out of the bathroom, drying my body with the towel, rushing to where she stood.“What’s going on, Amelia? You just threw up! You should be taking some rest.” I said, and she smiled.“I have taken some rest. I just decided to select some nice clothes you could go out with today. I don’t even know if you would like it, but I just...” “Of course I will love it.” I said without even taking a look at the clothes she had selected. But when I did, I exhaled. I didn’t really like the grey color. I had it in my closet, but I barely wore it. “You don’t like it?” She asked when she realised I was staring at it for too long.“Oh no. I do like it. Thank you.” I said, and she smiled. That was enough for me.I hung my towel and began to dress up, with Amelia helping me with that. She helped adjust my necktie and hair and ensured I was good to go to w

Amelia The sound of my laughter was ending. Eric was telling me about his unending humorous meeting with some seemingly potential clients and how he just knew it was a waste of time. Every detail of the meeting held so much humour that I could barely hold myself any longer, holding my belly as I released the laughter. It was indeed hilarious.“It was just crazy, you know.” He said, wrapping that up, while I kept laughing at his hilarious journey. We had been on the call for close to two hours before it crossed my mind to ask about Bailey and how they had been doing without me. I knew I had only stayed with them for three months, but it sure felt longer than that.“How about Bailey? How has it been with you two?” I asked, and he laughed this time.“Another crazy thing. Aunt’s barely stopped by my place ever since you left.” He said, and I was taken aback a little bit. “What do you mean?” I asked, and he laughed again.“I’m serious. She only drops by when I ask her to. It looks like s

Amelia I couldn’t stop thinking about it. How thoughtful he was. No one had been this thoughtful of me. Okay, maybe Eric and Bailey, but still, I just couldn’t get over it. I couldn’t just wait for him to return so I could throw myself into his arms to appreciate him for being this thoughtful. Then it hit me. I could just call him instead and let him know how grateful I am for this. So I picked up my phone and dialled his number, but it wasn’t going through. That was strange. I tried again, but it still didn’t go through. Well, thankfully this wasn’t an emergency. I wanted to send a text, but then text wouldn’t do as much justice as I wanted. It wouldn’t express my gratitude enough. So I decided to wait for him to arrive. While waiting, I took my chocolates before sleeping off.A knock on the door got me jerking out of my sleep. I checked the time on the wall clock. It was past nine. Had I slept that long? The knock came again.“Can I come in?” I heard his voice, and it was enough

Amelia This time, he took his eyes off mine for a while. I already began to regret asking him what had happened at work. I hadn’t even well ingested the fact that my father came looking for me. Now I had to deal with another dinner? I still couldn’t get over the drama that happened the last time, and now I was looking forward to another?I exhaled in frustration. I wasn’t going to go this time. I didn’t even care whatever happened because of that. I wasn’t ready to deal with his family yet. Not now.“I’m not going.” I said looking away. He snapped his head to look at me.“Amelia….” He called gently. “No Lach! I’m serious. I’m not going there. Not now. Not after the stunt we pulled there the last time.”“The more reason why we should go now, babe. I want it to be well registered with everyone that you are the one I want to be with. And I need them to accept that fact.” He explained, interrupting me immediately. “And what about what I want, Lach? That ever crossed your mind?” I asked

LachlanI walked through the boutique with Lillian. I needed to get something stunning for my wife. I knew she always looked stunning, but I needed her to have Lachlan’s touch tonight as we went out for dinner. So I went along with her stylist to the boutique without her knowledge. I took delight in surprising her and watching her face light up. We have been walking through the boutique for a while but haven’t come across anything impressive to me. Lillian did see things she felt her madam would like, but I wanted a difference with the regular.Of course they were stunning. Of course they were mind-blowing. But I wanted something beyond that that would still match her taste. And so we had almost walked through the boutique without finding what we wanted until I came across a deep blue bodycon. I asked Lillian to check it out, and she was also amazed and admitted it would look gorgeous on Amelia. I smiled. We picked some earrings, jewellery, and shoes to match the dress, and after the

Oliver’s POV The glass of whiskey filled with ice cubes stayed there untouched on the desk before me. I stared at it, the familiar temptation lingering in the back of my mind, but for once, it wasn’t enough to drown out the weight on my chest. Amelia. Her name had become a ghost in my life, haunting every corner my body. I tried to push it away, tried to forget her the same way I’d tried to forget her mother’s face. It didn't matter. No matter how much I drank, no matter how much I tried to bury myself, they always came back. I blamed her. I had always blamed her. She looked too much like her, too much like the woman who’d held my world together before it all fell apart. Her eyes, her voice, even the way she carried herself—it was a cruel reflection of what I had lost. When the company fell apart because of my own mistakes, when the creditors came knocking, I convinced myself it was Amelia’s fault too. It made it easier to do what I did. Selling her off to the Mallorys wasn’t

Amelia's POVThe house was too quiet for its size. The walls seemed to close in around me; it was no longer comforting but instead suffocating. Every turn I took, there was a guard stationed somewhere; their presence was a reminder of how much my life had just drastically changed. Rebecca wasn’t helping either. She was practically glued to my side, her sharp eyes watching my every move as if I were a fragile porcelain doll about to fall and break into pieces. It was very annoying.I moved to the massive windows in the living room, pulling back the heavy curtains to look outside. The gardens stretched out under the silver light of the moon. The world beyond seemed so beautiful, so pretty, yet I was stuck in here. In these walls, doing nothing. Fuck this shit!!I wasn’t even allowed to step out without someone guarding me. I tried to distract myself by reading, but the words were hardly visible to me, probably because of the amount of thoughts I was processing. I turned on the telev

Eric’ POVThe night breeze escaping through the floor to ceiling window in my office did absolutely nothing to reduce my frustration. I loosened my tie and relaxed into the leather chair behind my desk. The once organised table is now in a mess, scattered with paperwork and staples pins.A pile of neatly arranged files lay to my right, perfectly aligned, the only thing organised here. I looked up at the wall and onto the pictures, if only I could hang there with them.I finally pulled the tie out of my collar and tossed it onto the desk, running a hand through my hair. Cassandra. The thought of her name alone made my blood boil. She almost ruined everything. The plan had been careful in making but Cassandra, with her nature and jealousy, had nearly torn it all apart in one reckless act. Attacking Amelia? That wasn’t just stupidity; it was sabotage! What I honestly wanted to know was who in the world gave her that foolish idea to hire amateurs to try and harm my woman!Should I cut

Christopher.I immediately turned and was meant with nothing but barrels of oil on the floor. There was no sign of Lachlan. I sighed, slapping my forehead again before stepping into my car and driving off.Nina’s POVThe headline popped up on my phone while I was sipping my morning latte, and I nearly choked. Normally I ignore stuff like this and focus more on the fashion news, but this story was too hot not to catch my attention. “BREAKING NEWS: Attempted Home Invasion at Mallory Mansion!" My eyes widened as I scrolled through the article. Apparently, some idiots tried to break into Lachlan’s house last night. They were dead now, of course, because nothing ever happens to Golden Boy Lachlan without some cosmic justice raining down in his favor. Still, it was juicy. Men storming his house, Amelia being in the house, and now they’re six feet under? This was practically ripped from a soap opera. I could already hear my mother’s voice in my head: “Nina, stop meddling in your brothers’

LACHLANThe fluorescent lights of the police station buzzed faintly as I walked through the doors, my mind heavily held down by a mixture of dread and determination. Matthew trailed just behind me, his expression stoic but his eyes alert. The station gave a stench of stale coffee mixed with frustration, a combination I’d grown accustomed to during these past few chaotic days. The detective in charge of the case called in earlier today that there have been some findings about the whereabouts of the assailants. It was good news, yes, but there was more, and they couldn’t tell me over the phone, so I had to come down here myself. Detective Harper greeted me with a curt nod. “Mr. Mallory, thank you for coming in. Let’s talk in my office.”I followed her into a small, cluttered room. Matthew remained close. If anyone could recognise Amelia’s attackers, it was him. Which was why I had brought him along with me again. Harper motioned for us to sit, her lips pressed into a grim line.“We fou

Christopher I staggered into my apartment, half drunk, exhausted, and honestly just wanting to sleep off the buzz from the club. It was nearly 3 a.m., and I’d lost track of how many drinks I’d downed with all those hot women. All I could think about was removing these clothes, getting in a hot shower, and letting the water wash off the stench of alcohol on me. As I turned on the shower, droplets of water began to gently slide down my chest, and I closed my eyes, letting the water pour over my hair, but as soon as I stepped out and grabbed a towel, my phone vibrated on the counter, slightly lighting up the dim room. It was Cassie. “Why's she calling?” I groaned, but something in the back of my mind told me to pick up. She wouldn’t call at this hour without a reasonable excuse. With that, I quickly dried off my wet body, yanked on some pants, and slid the green icon. "Cassandra, I was wondering when I’d hear from you again.” I heard her take a deep breath. “Chris, I need your hel

AMELIA I woke up slowly, my mind drifting through a thick haze, like I was trying to wade through fog. For a moment, everything was blurry, and a tightness settled in my chest. Where was I? Was I still at the hospital? Then I felt the warmth of a hand over mine, firm but gentle, and everything came rushing back. Blinking, I looked up to see Lachlan sitting beside me, his face tense but softening as he noticed I was awake. The sight of him washed away the last traces of fear, and I let out a breath I hadn’t realised I was holding.“Lachlan…” My voice was barely a whisper, but his expression shifted, relief flooding his eyes.“I’m right here, love,” he said, giving my hand a reassuring squeeze.I wanted to tell him everything I was feeling—how scared I’d been, how grateful I was that he was here now—but the words felt tangled in my throat. Before I could even try, the door opened, and a middle-aged man in a white coat stepped in. He had a kind face, with just a hint of greying at the

CASSANDRAHow could they fail? I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms as I paced the length of my bedroom, the sour taste of anger mixing with fear. They were supposed to be professionals, discreet. They were supposed to handle everything without it coming back to me. But those idiots let Amelia slip through their fingers. I should have known his chauffeur wasn't normal. Lachlan was onto us now. He was too smart; I’d known this. It was part of why I’d fallen for him in the first place.Well too late for regrets; thanks to their incompetence, I was backed into a corner, and the thought made my skin crawl. The image of him still being by that bitch’s side burnt in my mind, fuelling my jealousy. Why her? Why did he look at her the way he used to look at me? I could have given him so much more if he’d just let me back in.My phone buzzed, and I saw Eric’s name light up the screen. My pulse quickened, a mix of hope and apprehension, but before I could even speak, his voice thund

LACHLANI should have been there. The thought ran circles in my mind, looping through every possible scenario in which I had somehow kept her safe. I was supposed to protect Amelia. But I had left her alone, vulnerable, and now she was in the hospital, recovering from an attack that could’ve cost her life. Worse, our child’s life. I clenched my fists so tight that my knuckles cracked, trying to keep my anger in check. It was mostly anger at myself—a gnawing, bitter frustration that I hadn’t been there when she’d needed me.Matthew sat beside me at the police station, scrolling through images on the detective’s tablet, helping to sort through potential suspects. He was silent but tense, his face a mirror of my own worry. I could see in his eyes that he was as furious as I was about what had happened. If he’d been there earlier, maybe he would have stopped those men. But he wasn’t to blame, and deep down, I knew that. The responsibility fell on me alone.“You don’t have to stay, Matthew
