This was hard to believe. Hailey shook her head. Kara couldn't possibly copy her special recipe in such a short time. Hailey had never shared it with anyone. She always had a way to make her pastries taste different. Only she knew the right measurements of the ingredients she used. This cake— it tasted exactly like the ones she made.

Hailey's hunger was instantly replaced by curiosity.

She carefully rose to her feet with the cupcake still in her hand while the other hand was on her waist.

She usually focused on meals and didn't actually bake that much in the diner. Kara took care of that aspect. And if Hailey could recall correctly, the last time she was here, she hadn't baked anything. And even if she did, the cakes wouldn't have survived to this day.

How was this possible?

"I'm listening, Hailey. Tell me how you were able to convince your husband."

Kara's sudden entrance interrupted Hailey's thoughts.

Hailey's mind wasn't on Kara's question. Her mind was still on the cupcake.
