Hailey wanted to tell him he was wrong. He was so wrong. And why was she caught up in this? Wasn't he supposed to be the one getting taunted instead of the other way round?

Kendrick had once again surprised her. Was he doing this to tick her off? To take revenge for forcing him to take the drugs?

"You haven't answered me, Hailey." Kendrick went on speaking. "Do you want me to make you speak?"

And how was he going to do that? Hailey snickered. She pursed her lips and kept her mouth shut, then went back to counting the seconds.

He might as well keep asking the empty air, while she waited for him to fall asleep. She pushed her head to the side, ignoring his question, and focused instead on her own thoughts.

Kendrick also went silent. He didn't say anything for a while. Good. Hailey was relieved. He should keep his mouth shut until the sleep overtook him.

But Kendrick didn't keep his mouth shut. Because moments later she heard his voice again.

"Well. You asked for it," he said with a
