The minute they stepped out of the elevator into the hallway, he shoved the food packaging and Kendrick's briefcase in Hailey's hands and disappeared to God knew where.

He didn't want to face Kendrick. And Hailey had to brazen herself, holding the huge package against her chest.

A bodyguard attempted to take it from her, but hell! She was standing already in front of Kendrick's ward. And her heart was doing its usual nervous dance again.

Taking in a deep breath, she gestured to the bodyguard to be quiet, and the other bodyguards stared at them, confused.

Their gazes were mostly on Hailey. Because when she got out of the elevator, they looked astonished to see her.

Ignoring them all, she reached forward to the door and pressed her ear on it. No sound. Was Kendrick sleeping? That would be great. Yet, if he was sleeping, how could she make him take the drugs?

Hailey's hand reached for the doorknob and she plastered on a smile before pushing it open.
