Not An Accident

Outside the window, the torrential rain raged. Winds mixed with rain violently invaded, rushing straight in through the gaps in the open window.

Avery trembled from the cold, her body curled up within the blanket, the cold air penetrating her chest, she hid within the blanket, coughing non-stop, her small face so pale that it caused one's heart to ache.

No one knew that on every dark night, she would be living in endless fear. No matter how tired she was, she wouldn't dare close her eyes, because as long as she closed her eyes, the piercing cry of a baby would echo in her ears and the scene of a red sports car speeding towards her. Her entire body would be in pain as if it had been crushed by a car.

On the bedside table, there were leftover white painkillers and half a cup of cold water. It seemed like she could only reach them with her hand, but after struggling for a while, a crisp sound came from the silent room. The glass shattered and water and pills splashed all over the floor.
