The next day, Avery’s case was officially decided. She was convicted of manslaughter, and because the circumstances were minor, she was sentenced to three years in prison with a suspension of execution for a period of three years.

For Avery, this could be said to be the best result. She was released from court. As she walked out of the courthouse, a light drizzle started to fall from the sky. Holding onto an umbrella, Jake stood at the entrance of the courthouse.

Avery was only wearing a thin shirt, making her look even more helpless and weak.

Jake propped the umbrella on top of her head, embraced her lightly, and comforted her, "Avery, it's alright.”

"Yes." Avery nodded silently, her gaze looking around.

Jake saw through her daughter's thoughts and sighed, "Today is the day that Madam Anderson will be buried. Blake will not be coming."
