Chapter 6. Paying compensation

Lynda pushed Nelvan's wheelchair to the hospital parking lot, by this time Lynda was very hungry because she had not eaten lunch, especially since she had cleaned Nelvan's big house this morning, so her energy was very depleted.

Hans opened the door to help Nelvan in, then Lynda took the wheelchair and put it in the trunk before getting into the car right next to Hans.

Occasionally Hans saw Lynda twisting the fingers of her own hands, Lynda's face staring straight down the road without turning around or looking at Nelvan who was sitting in the back, Hans was sure that Lynda must have been scolded by Nelvan.

He did not know if Lynda would survive to face Nelvan or not, it was only the first day and Lynda's condition seemed to want to jump into a deep river. Hans looked at the front mirror, Nelvan's reflection seemed to be looking at him too, Hans shook his head slowly, a deep sigh escaped his lips before the car Hans was driving entered the vast area of Nelvan's house.

Lynda rushed down to prepare the wheelchair as Hans helped Nelvan out of the car, then Lynda pushed Nelvan into the house.

Kruuukkk...

"Wait a minute," Nelvan said, his forehead furrowed, "is that the sound of my stomach?

Lynda closed her eyes feeling embarrassed, just now the sound was her stomach because she was starving, surely her stomach worms were also protesting to be filled immediately.

“Sorry Mr. Xander, it was me.” replied Lynda embarrassed.

Nelvan turned his head expressionlessly, Lynda innocently grinning without sin.

“Hans!” called Nelvan, Hans came running, “tell this child to eat, I don't want to see anyone starving to death in my house,” he said.

Hans looked at Lynda, “Why didn't you say you were hungry,” said Hans, “You wait here I'll take the young master to his room first.” continued Hans who was nodded by Lynda.

Upon arriving at the room, Nelvan got off his wheelchair and stood up on his own without assistance, “Because of her I almost died, even so I will not let Linda starve to death, she must pay for her actions.” Nelvan moved to the bed.

“After she finishes eating, order Lynda over here,” he said to Hans.

“Are you sure you want to let that girl into your room?” Hans asked.

“Don't ask too many questions and do what I tell you to do!” she said.

Hans immediately waltzed out of Nelvan's room, not forgetting to close the door again. Hans approached Lynda who had not moved from where Hans last saw her.

“It's only today that you work here so don't take it too much as a burden, now come on, you have to eat, here you can't starve and if you are hungry you have to eat, the young master is emotional but he doesn't like to see hungry people in his house,” Hans directed Lynda so that the girl could enjoy the food.

“After eating, you are instructed to go to the young master's room,” Hans continued.

Lynda glared, "I'm going there? What if it's just me and him in the same room and Mr. Xander is giving me a hard time?" said Lynda.

Hans smiled, "You have to accept it, have you forgotten that a few moments ago you almost cost the young master his life?" Hans replied while holding back an amused smile, Lynda blinked, what Hans said was right if Lynda had to take responsibility for her actions earlier.

"I didn't know it was going to be like this," Lynda thought.

As soon as she finished eating, Lynda found herself standing in front of the door to Nelvan's room, the solid black door seemed to say that the owner of the room was very cruel. Lynda sighed heavily and knocked on the door several times.

Until the sound of Nelvan's voice invited her to enter, the door was carefully opened by Lynda, it was the first time she had entered the room when Hans said that no one could enter there unless the owner allowed it.

"Mr. Xander, is there something you need?" she asked.

"To make amends, you have to take care of me, so from now on you live in this house, so when I need you, you can come on time."

"Huh? But Mr. Xande I-"

"There is no refusal, do your duty as a maid in this house, you are the only person who will serve me, because of you the allergy has also returned." Nelvan interrupted Lynda's sentence.

Lynda's lips pursed, how could Lynda say that she had a younger brother named Allexin who was fifteen years old and still in school, if she stayed in this mansion what would happen to Allexin?

"Do you mind? Then you can leave this house, but as I said in the hospital, you can only leave after you have paid compensation for what you did to put me in the hospital," Nelvan continued.

Lynda fiddled with her fingers, "Mr. Xander, I will do as you ask, but can I go home later to prepare my things?" she asked.

"Everything you need is in this house, so you don't have to bother getting your things from there," Nelvan replied.

"Mr. Xander, just for today, I promise not to run away and I will be back here tomorrow morning," Lynda said.

Nelvan looked at Lynda, for a few moments there was silence and an ominous frozen atmosphere, "Just for tonight you can go home, but if I don't see you here at seven in the morning then don't blame me if big trouble awaits you," Nelvan threatened, Lynda nodded in understanding.

"If you understand, please come out and continue your work," Nelvan continued.

Lynda nodded again and walked out, outside Nelvan's bedroom door, Lynda sighed.

"How am I going to tell Allexin later?" she wondered.

It was almost dark in the afternoon, Lynda came home to see Allexin sitting behind her studying, "You just got home? It's almost dark," Allexin said as he turned around in a sitting position.

Lynda put the bag on the hanger and hugged the sitting Allexin, "Hey, what's wrong with you? Is your work really hard this time?" asked Allexin.

"Are you hungry? Want me to make you some instant food?" Allexin offered.

Lynda let go of Allexin's hug then nodded, "Make me a spicy one, I want to eat spicy today," she replied, Allexin smiled.

"Wait, I'll make it for you," Allexin got up and went to the kitchen to get a pot to boil water.

Lynda looked over her little brother's shoulder, Allexin had grown into a tall man, she was even taller than Allexin when he was only fifteen years old, so what when Allexin was twenty? Will his younger brother be as tall as the roof of the house?

"If you don't like working at your new place, you can quit, I'll find a part-time job to pay for my tuition," Allexin said, turning his back on Lynda.

"You just concentrate on your school, I like my job this time, I even want to tell you that tomorrow I will stay overnight at my workplace."

Allexin immediately turned around, "Are you kidding? Why do you suddenly want to stay overnight? What if something happens while you're there? I can't see you every day, then-"

"Shhtt... my boss is a good person, so he let me stay at his house because he didn't want me to get tired, the distance between this house and my workplace is quite far, so he offered for me to stay at his house, don't think negative, I'll be fine, after all, who dares to hurt me when I have a smart martial arts Brother like you," Lynda rubbed Allexin's face.

"You're serious, right, you have to text me as often as possible and if your boss does something to you, you have to tell me, got it?"

Lynda smiled and nodded, she knew she was lying to her younger brother but what the hell, instead of having to pay a very large amount of compensation, it was better for her to use the money for Allexin's school fees.

"Will you be okay living alone?" asked Lynda.

Allexin put the instant noodles in a bowl, "Of course I can take care of myself, I'm just worried about you, you're a woman. So I, as a man, have to protect you, here I have cooked for you, so let's eat together". Allexin sat down in front of his instant noodles and then passed another bowl to Lynda.

"You're acting like a big brother instead of a little brother," Lynda chuckled softly.

"You're the only family I have, so if you leave and don't come back, who do you think I have in this world? Anyway, you won't understand, so eat your food before it gets cold." Allexin replied.

"Smart boy, be a good little brother to your big sister," Lynda rubbed Allexin's hair, Allexin's two eyeballs rolled in disgust.

Lynda accepted her food while occasionally looking at Allexin, Lynda's hope was to make Allexin a successful person by continuing to study. Lynda would do anything for Allexin, this teenage boy is the only reason for Lynda to survive so far.

No matter if she has to work here and there to earn money, as long as Allexin lives comfortably and never goes hungry.

Hopefully her decision to work for Nelvan was the right one, Lynda only had to make herself immune to Nelvan's wrath to survive in his house. However, Lynda will not be able to predict what will happen after she stays in the man's house.
