Elijah’s Power Play

Naomi's POV

Daniel's unease was evident as his gaze flitted back to me. The weight of what he was about to disclose made the air between us feel as if it may break.

Roman's patience wore thin, and his jaw tightened. "Daniel," he hissed his voice like a dagger slicing through the tension. "Daniel, Spill it out"

Daniel stood up straight, looking grudgingly at Roman. "It's Elijah," he said in a calm, low voice. He’s been buying out several of your key allies. Three of your board members and two of your suppliers have already switched to his side. And…”

Roman's eyes sharpened sharply as he trailed off. "And what?"

After hesitating, Daniel went on, "He's going after Mr. Novak, your biggest investor. It has been reported that he is providing terms that you will not be able to meet.”

The room tilted. Roman's silence was deafening, and waves of stress radiated from him.

My heart was pounding as I swallowed hard. "What does that mean?" Despite the fury raging ins

Naomi’s Ultimatum Naomi's POV The mention of the vault hung in the air like a live wire, making Roman's body tighten and the place feel oppressive. I briefly questioned whether I had gone too far when his piercing, cunning eyes met mine. But I won't back down. Not now. With his fingers clenched at his sides, Roman said in a low, calm voice, "You weren't supposed to find that." “I wasn’t looking for it,” I countered, taking a step closer. “But I did. And now I need answers.” As he swallowed forcefully, his jaw tensed and Adam's apple bobbed. “Naomi, this isn’t something you can ignore. Once I tell you—” "Then tell me!" I interrupted him with a snap. "Roman, I'm your wife. I deserve to know the truth. All of it. Stop hiding behind these walls you’ve built and let me in.” Like a storm poised to break, the words weighed heavily on us as they lingered between us. Roman ran a hand through his hair, his frantic and restless movements displaying his irritation as he paced the roo

The Shadow of the Past Naomi's POVFor a minute, Roman's defenses slipped as his gaze met mine. It was raw, unfiltered pain, but it was gone nearly as fast as it had come. “You want to know about the vault,” he said in a calm but tense tone.My chest constricted with anticipation as I nodded. With deliberate action, he pointed to the seating area near the fireplace. "Take a seat. I've never told this story before, but if you want the truth, you'll get it. Everything.”I sat opposite him, following his lead, the silence broken only by the faint crackle of the fire. Roman steadied his hand as he poured himself a drink, but I could see the tension in his knuckles as he held the glass. He began, “My father is not just a hard man. Apart from being cold, Brutal. He is also a tyrant who built his business on bribery, threat and blackmails. At first I was unaware of this until I grew older and he brought me into his business world. The Midnight Heist Naomi's POVMy heart pounded in my chest as the words "together" lingered between us like a silent vow. Before turning to Daniel, Roman's eyes lingered on me for a moment, a glimmer of something unsaid slipping through. "Where is the place?" Roman's voice was harsh and serious as he asked. Daniel took out a tablet and held it up after tapping the screen. "Elijah's private storage facility on the city's outskirts. It is a fortress armed with guards, security cameras, and biometric locks. However, I've marked the weak spots.”Roman stepped forward, examining the screen with a ferocity that chilled me. I’d seen him like this before—focused, ruthless—but this time, there was something else. He wasn’t just fighting for his empire; he was fighting for us. "What is the schedule?" Roman's jaw tensed as he asked. "Tonight." Daniel replied. “ Around midnight, Elijah's soldiers switch shifts. That's our best time to go in.” Roman glanced back at me as he nodded.

When he spotted me standing there with my arms crossed and resting on the doorframe, his eyes widened. "Roman... His voice wavered as he stumbled, "I didn't hear you come in." I took a step forward, moving slowly and methodically. "No, you didn't. I presume you're too preoccupied with your brief phone call.”With a pallid face, he opened his mouth and closed it. “It’s not what you think.” "Isn't it?" With a harsh tone, I bit out. I moved closer to him, staring into his eyes. "Because it sounded a lot like betrayal from where I'm standing." As I got closer to Daniel, he gulped forcefully and pressed his back on the desk's edge. “You’ve been feeding Elijah information about me,” I said coldly. “And Naomi.” His eyes fell to the ground as his face twisted with shame. Camille’s Gambit Camille’s POVWith her hands resting softly on the table and her back straight, Margaret Steele exuded composure. But she etrayed her eyes—calculating, assessing, like she was deciding whether to tolerate my presence or crush me under her designer heels.I picked up the fragile porcelain cup in front of me and sat back in my chair, crossing one leg over the other. I took my time sipping my coffee, allowing the tension between us to grow like smoke. “You seem surprised,” I said finally, setting the cup down with a soft clink. “Didn’t think I’d have the audacity to seek you out, did you?” A slight smile curled Margaret's lips, but it stopped short of her eyes. “Audacity has always been one of your best traits, Camille. It’s what made you such a… memorable moments in Roman’s life.” My voice was low and deliberate as I chuckled. “Memorable. Is that what they’re calling it these days? Well, let’s not beat around the bush Margaret. Roman and I—we have unfinished bu

The Price of Freedom Roman’s POVFor a while, Camille stood motionless, her lips slightly open in surprise, but this moment was short-lived. The moment of weakness was gone as fast as it appeared, replaced by the infruating grin she always had when she felt in control. Fighting the need to lash out, I clenched my fists. “I think it’s time we settle things between us.” Camille leaned casually against the wall, her amusement barely seen. “Settle what exactly? You seem to think I’m some kind of villain in your little story. I’m not the one who ruined us, Roman. You did.” “Don’t twist this,” I snapped, my voice like glass. “You’ve been feeding off my life like a parasite, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Now, you’re going after Naomi. That ends tonight.” She didn't back down even though her expression hardened. “And what exactly do you propose? That I pack up and disappear into the night? The Heirloom Roman's POVLike a razor piercing the silence, Naomi's question hung in the air. “What exactly is this heirloom?” I stood there staring into her unblinking eyes, and for a second I thought about ignoring the question. But then I noticed the genuineness in her eyes—her desire to sympathize with me and share my sorrow. I had to be honest with her. "It's a ring," I muttered. "A simple one. Gold with a small emerald.” She scowled with perplexity. "A ring? Why would Camille want something like that?” “It’s not just any ring,” I replied, moving toward the window. The morning light spilled into the room, casting golden rays that reminded me of another time, another place. “It belonged to my mother. She wore it every day.” I let the memories flood my mind as I closed my eyes. I could vividly see my mother, reaching out to hold my hand with a smile as radiant as the sun. I will always remember the melody of her laughter, which encircled you and gave you a sense of s

The Seduction Trap Roman’s POVAs I returned inside, I saw Naomi's body stretched out on the bed in the faint light from the bedside lamp. The sheets were tangled over her legs, exposing her naked body to the gentle glow, but she was already asleep. With each steady breath, her chest rose and fell, and she slept peacefully, her lips slightly parted. As I stood there, simply observing her, a surge of warmth filled my chest. She trusted me enough to completely let down her barriers and be this vulnerable. Nevertheless, a storm was building within me. The foundation I was trying to lay with Naomi felt like it was about to collapse due to Camille's intrusion into our lives. With a sigh, I combed through my hair. I wanted to wake her up, to continue what we are doing before Camille interrupted. Damn you Camille. But, I couldn't bring myself to wake her from her sleep. Naomi deserved peace, even if my own felt far out of reach tonight. With the intention of joining her on the bed ,

The sun rose gently over the expansive estate, its golden rays beams through the wide windows and highlight the serene scene within. Naomi sat in the garden, her laughter blended with the soft chirping of birds. She held two small babies in her arms, their gentle coos bringing the distinct sound of fresh life into the room. Two years had flown by, a tapestry of hardships, victories, and emotional moments. The happiness and tranquility they had worked so hard to achieve suddenly eclipsed what had seemed like an endless struggle. Roman came out onto the terrace and looked at his wife and kids, his eyes warming. Naomi looked up, her eyes full of love, her smile radiant. With a hint of surprise and fatigue in her voice, she muttered, "They're already asleep." Roman approached and lowered himself next to her. With the same gentleness that one could reserve for the most delicate of treasures, he removed the small boy from her arms. “He’s going to be as strong as his mother,” Roman mu

Instead there was an enormous sense of expectancy, as if I were on the brink of something significant, something that would change my life. I moved a little, brushing a stray strand of hair from Naomi's face. She stirred and opened her eyes meeting mine."Morning," she said in a sleep-smoggy voice. "Morning," I replied, my voice soft but tinged with excitement. I couldn’t help the smile that appeared on my face. "You ready to become official Mrs. Blackhood?" What do you want?” I put down my mug and laughed. “Nothing. Just stating the truth.” She rolled her eyes and returned to scrambling eggs on the stove, not bothering to cover her smile. The air was thick with the aroma of spices and butter, and it surrounded me like a cozy blanket. Simple, peaceful, and unguarded moments like these served as a reminder of our progress. But, the weight of something unsaid hung over me even as I took it all in. “Naomi,” I started, my tone more serious now. Her brow furrowed sli

The Wedding PreparationRoman's POV I stood in the doorway of our bedroom, watching Naomi sleep, her chest rising and falling in a regular beat. Her skin was glowing golden as the early morning sunshine crept through the curtains. In sharp contrast to the commotion we had experienced to get here, she appeared calm.I felt contentment for the first time in a long time, something I had not experienced in years. It wasn't the kind that accompanied short-lived triumphs or meaningless accomplishments. This was quieter, deeper, and completely connected to the woman in front of me.Now it was more than just contract or a deal, I want a formal wedding with her. She had brought light into my world of calculated risks and cold decisions. I didn’t want grandeur or anything that felt impersonal. Naomi deserved something that reflected her—simpl

Naomi’s Gallery ReopensNaomi's POVThe gallery was alive with conversation and excitement, and it was around me like a cozy hug. I was standing close to the door, my fingers shaking a little as I held a flute of sparkling cider. But it wasn't fear. It was a sense of expectation. With work of love, the new gallery rose from the ashes of the one Elijah had destroyed. I had designed every detail with Roman's assistance, making sure it reflected both my art and my journey. The space was warm and inviting, with exposed brick walls that gave it character and high ceilings that made the room feel spacious. Each sculpture was softly lit by track lighting, and the romance was enhanced by the gentle creaking of the natural wood floorboards beneath the feet. This gallery offered a more personal touch than the previous one's sleek and modern vibe. Roman had insisted on a handcrafted sign above the entrance, and I’d chosen the name carefully: “New Hope Studio.”Along with my work, local a

My heartbeat's faint sound, a constant reminder that I wasn't dreaming, filled the silence."Don’t overthink it," I whispered to myself, though my body refused to relax. Something about the sudden darkness felt calculated, deliberate. I inhaled deeply and moved toward the bedroom door, feeling my way through. My fingers touched the wall's edge as I went slowly and carefully. The silence was nearly deafening, and the air felt heavier with every stride.A loud click reverberated throughout the house as I entered the corridor that led to the sitting room, and the lights flickered back on. A Fresh StartNaomi's POV It was a calm yet intense drive home. Roman's thumb caressed my knuckles absentmindedly, a small yet personal touch that warmed me. The commotion of the previous few days gave way to an odd sense of tranquility as the city skyline blurred past the window. “Naomi,” Roman said, breaking the silence. His voice drew me out of my reverie as I turned to face him. "Yes?" His angular features were softened by the afternoon light as he looked at me. "I've been considering what comes next. For us. My chest tightened in the greatest way as he uttered *us*. It was a declaration rather than a question, and I never imagined hearing such a resounding affirmation from someone like Roman. "And?" The ShowdownNaomi's POVAnticipation weighed heavily on the air inside the car. Roman's jaw was tense and his knuckles were white as he grabbed the steering wheel. As we raced in the direction of the syndicate's secret base, the city merged into the background. I sat next to him, silent but full of determination. I held the small gun Roman had given me earlier in my lap. Even though it felt heavy and cold in my hands, I knew it was necessary. “You don’t have to come with me,” Roman said, breaking the silence, his voice low but firm. I turned to him, meeting his intense gaze. “Yes, I do.” For a brief moment, the fear that lay beneath his stony exterior surfaced, softening his gaze. “Just stay close to me, Naomi. Whatever happens, don’t leave my side.” “I won’t,” I promised. The car screeched to a stop outside an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city. With its broken windows and graffitied walls, it was the kind of place that screamed danger. As we got out of th

Even though the contact was slight and insignificant it gave me a sense of comfort. I felt my stomach clench as he cocked his head and studied the unlabeled packet. “Where did you find this?” he asked, his voice calm but tinged with curiosity. "On the path outside," I answered, putting my arms over myself as a shiver went through my body. "Roman, it wasn't there last night. Someone left it for us.” His eyes briefly met mine, and I could see his mind working every scenario and potential risk that this could bring. Sharp and determined, he nodded then took a knife from the kitchen counter and gently cut open the envelope. As he unfolded the contents, I held my breath because the sound of the blade slicing through the thick paper seemed louder than it should have been. One sheet of parchment, yellowed and old was inside. Roman's jaw tensed with every se
