Valerie’s POV

My heart raced as I came out of the office building silently. My mind was still reeling from what I had overheard. Drake was going to publicly deny everything, deny me, our past, and our connection. The thought made my blood run cold. I knew people would believe him with the Charlottes family at his back. The story would then begin to bend itself into his narrative, and I would amount only to some forgotten chapter or an insignificant blip in his life's timeline.

The thought was unbearable. How could he so easily dismiss everything we had been through? How could he erase me from his life as if I had never mattered? My thoughts spiraled the entire way home as my anger climbed with each step. I couldn't let him get away with this. I couldn't let him rewrite our story to suit his needs all the while I was left with nothing.

By the time I reached my apartment, my mind was made up. I would get my revenge, no matter the cost. I wouldn't let Drake be the last one to have a say
