Emma’s pov
I got out of the room and drove straight to the pharmacy.
I grabbed a couple of pregnancy tests and that too different brands just to be sure.
When I got home, I found myself looking at them over and over again.
That incident with Matt, it’s been a few weeks since it happened.
Will Conan think that maybe the child I am carrying is Matt’s child?
I am willing to do a DNA test if necessary to put all of this behind us.
We have waited for so long to have a child of our own.
And now that it might be happening I can’t help but feel scared.
My phone started ringing as I was looking at the unopened boxes and it was Maddie.
I picked up the phone and she asked to meet me.
Honestly, I would rather procrastinate for as long as it takes.
I quickly took my bag and then drove to the place we were meeting.
“Are you okay?” she asked me, and I shook my head.
“How can I be okay? Conan can’t even look me in the eye,” I said and sighed.
“I am miserable Maddie,” I said and watched as she wiped tears in her eyes.
“I am so sorry this is happening to you. I went to Conan, I went to his office and tried to explain that you could never do such a thing,” she said.
“I know, his assistant called me and so did his Aunt. Thank you for that,” I said, and she held my hand.
“You are my sister, I would do anything for you,” she said, and I nodded.
Should I tell her everything?
Should I tell her about the contraceptives found in my system?
Or should I tell her about the fact that I suspect that I am pregnant?
I looked at Maddie and this whole matter seemed to be weighing on her heavily than it was on me.
No, I should only tell her once I am certain of everything.
“But why would Matt do such an evil thing to you? Why trap you like this?” she asked me.
“I have no idea; I have been trying to understand why he would do such a thing. He ruined his friendship of decades and my relationship as well, but for what reason?” I asked.
She didn’t answer since it was a rhetorical question.
How can she answer?
The only person who has the answers to these questions is that Matt and he is sticking to his story.
“And the press, how on earth did they get all this news?” Maddie asked and I just shrugged.
“I have no idea, but my name is all over the internet and I am being called worst Wife of the Year. Well, I will just put it next to my Gold Digger title,” I said.
“Do you think that Matt did this?” she asked me, and I couldn’t answer.
“Ma’am, you have a flower delivery,” the waitress said.
I looked at Maddie and she was just as confused as I was about all of this.
“A flower delivery, to this restaurant and that too to her?” Maddie asked.
I looked around and just from across the restaurant was a flower shop.
I looked at the flowers and the tag and they were bought at the flower shop.
Inside it was a card and it said, “GAME ON BITCH,”.
I didn’t waste any time and ran across the road to the flower shop.
“Excuse me ma’am, did you see the person who bought these flower?” I asked the lady at the till.
“No ma’am, the person was hiding their face,” the lady answered, and I frowned.
“What was the name on the card they paid with?” Maddie asked and I nodded.
“The person paid in cash,” the lady answered.
“Okay, it seems as if something has something against you,” Maddie said looking around.
And whoever this someone is, they seem to be a powerful someone since they even got Matt on board.
What do I do?
Who is this person and what do they want from me?
“I am sorry, I have lost my appetite now. I should get going,” I said but Maddie held my hand.
“We already ordered, let’s take the order back home. You should eat something, meanwhile I will try to look into this,” she said and then hugged me.
“Your main focus should be on your husband right now. Gain back his trust, and tell him about this creep,” she added.
What she is saying makes sense, plus I can’t be stressed too much now.
I don’t know if I am pregnant or not, but if I am then I will need to be very careful.
“Thank you so much,” I said and then got into my car and drove off. What should I do?
I got home and took the test.
A few minutes later I looked at those lines and found myself crying.
This should be the happiest day of my life but now it isn’t.
Someone took this away from me, I should be crying tears of joy but no.
Instead, I have this fear, this fear that my husband will now hate me more.
I don’t know for how long I sat there but Conan suddenly came into the room.
“Is everything okay?” he asked me.
His eyes then landed on the many sticks that were on the ground and then at me.
“I am pregnant Conan, I am willing to do a DNA test,” I said trying to hold back my tears.
This is a trap set for the both of us so I can’t blame him as well.
“No need,” he said, and I looked at him and I felt that little warmth of hope.
“So, you believe me right? You believe that I didn’t sleep with Matt?” I asked him.
He didn’t answer, I watched as he opened the hidden safe and then took out some documents and then handed them to me.
Are they divorce papers?
Is he divorcing me?
I looked at the papers and then at him.
“What is this?” I asked him and he started ruffling his hair before looking at me.
“That is a medical report,” he answered, and I scoffed.
“I can see that, but why is it saying all this? Why are you showing it t me?” I asked him.
“So, you can read what it says,” he answered getting frustrated.
“Fine, I have read what it says. So, is this your answer? Is that why you told me that a DNA test is not necessary?” I asked him.
“Yes, because all it will do is break my heart even more. All it’s going to do is to remind me that my wife slept with another man. Not only that, but he gave her something I could never give you,” he said.
“Well, these reports are wrong, the child I am carrying is yours,” I said and watched as he punched the wall.
“Please Emma, I am begging you to please stop all of this,” he said and then fell on the floor.
He looked at me, his eyes were so full of pain.
“I can never be a father; the report says that I can never father a child. So how can the child you are carrying be mine?” he asked me.
“And I didn’t sleep with Matt, the only man I have been with is you. So, if you insist that this isn’t your child then whose child is it?” I asked him.
“Only you can answer that question Emma,” he said and then held both my hands.
“It’s okay, we can get through this together. Just admit your mistake and then we can move on. I can’t lose you, and the baby you are carrying is yours. So, I can accept the child as well,” he said and then pulled me closer to him.
“Just accept your mistake,” he said, and I looked at him.
I found myself laughing at this and it turned into sobs.
“Now what? I don’t know if I should be grateful or if I should resent you,” I said.
“Should I be grateful that you are willing to accept me even though you think this child is someone else?” I asked him.
“Or should I be resentful that you don’t believe me?” I asked him.
I looked at him, for the past few weeks he couldn’t even look me in the eyes.
I realized something, I am tired, and I don’t want to fight.
He doesn’t believe me; he has known me for two years and doesn’t trust me.
I could stay here and wait until I give birth and then prove my innocence.
But I don’t think I can bare the hatred and accusations in his eyes.
“You really don’t believe me,” I said and then got off the floor.
“I love you so much Conan, and I can see that you are in great pain and so am I.
I made a vow to myself, that if I ever cause you any pain then I would find a way to fix it. And I know that you won’t be able to heal as long as the cause of all that pain is still here,” I said and smiled.
Sometimes loving someone means letting them go, right?
Conan’s pov“What the hell do you think you are doing?” Maddie asked coming into my office.“Just so you know, being married to your friend doesn’t mean we are friends,” I informed her, and she scoffed.“Of course, it doesn’t mean that. And I would never want to befriend someone like you,” she said.“She called me, she called me and told me everything. Your wife tells you that she is pregnant, and you give her some report that says that you can’t have kids,” she said.“I don’t owe you an explanation, and I am surprised that Emma told you all of this,” I said.Emma has always been someone who doesn’t like telling people about her private life.Hell, you wouldn’t know about her finances or anything like that. But then again, she and Maddie have always been like sisters. And this isn’t a small issue, I am sure that she just wanted to have someone to talk to.“Listen, this matter is between me and my wife,” I said, and she chuckled bitterly at this.“Your wife? Did you just say wife? You h
Emma’s pov“Do you hear me Emma, if you leave then don’t ever come back,” Conan yelled.I held on as tightly as I could to my bag and continued walking.“Please don’t go, please don’t leave him,” he pleaded. But how can I stay?I saw the way he looked at me, he will never be able to trust me again. He called our baby my baby.Yes, I could stay here and give birth and then have a DNA test done on the baby.I am a 100% sure that this baby I am carrying is mine and Conan’s baby. But I will be honest, I am angry that he refuses to believe me when I tell him it’s a misunderstanding.I tried to explain to him that I think someone planned all of this, but he doesn’t believe me.All he sees or hears when I say those words is a woman trying to justify or hide her mistakes. Not only that, I know that it will die down but let’s be honest nothing is ever really gone from the internet. He might get rid of it, but what will happen when our child grows up and is being called names. Not only that, bu
Emma’s povI looked at the falling slow and looked around the small town.Everything was still closed, and I would love a cup of coffee. But decaf, and I am really hungry right now.I haven’t been eating well for days now and I need a proper meal.I walked around the empty streets, in this cold weather people are locked up in their rooms.“You seem like you need a strong cup of coffee,” a woman said, and I looked at her confused. She had come out of a café, “actually, not that strong. Decaf maybe,” I said, and she smiled.“Come in,” she said but the sign said that they are not open yet.“Come on, I can’t let you freeze outside,” she said, and I nodded.I walked in and the moment I walked in the smell of fresh baked food hit my nose.I looked around her shop and for a second I couldn’t understand what it is.It had what looked like a small, cute library and had all kinds of things.Hot beverages and also baked things.“I also sell flowers in spring as well,” she suddenly said.I looked
Emma’s pov “Aunt Emma, so when is the baby coming?” Jamie asked me and I smiled. “Very soon, the baby will be here very soon,” I said, and he smiled. “When she comes, will I be able to play with her?” Rose asked and I nodded. “You know Aunt, all my friends can’t wait to meet the baby,” Rose said with a cute smile. “You will meet her very soon,” I said and then looked outside. It’s been 8 months already and I might give birth anytime. I am grateful to Daisy and her amazing kids. But at times I still felt really lonely throughout the whole thing. The one person I wanted next to me isn’t there at all. Flashback “Wait, where is May, everyone where is May?” I asked looking around. “May,” I called out but couldn’t see her. I told the school that a school trip to the busiest part of the city isn’t a good idea. They just had to choose this trip to the museum on such a busy day. “Please, get the other kids into the bus and make sure that they are all in there. I will look around
Emma’s pov“What is wrong?” Daisy asked me and I frowned.“My water just broke,” I said and watched as her eyes lit up.“Okay, we have this under control,” she said and then started running around.“You have two kids and yet you are panicking like this,” I said, and she looked at me.“It’s your first child, why aren’t you panicking?” she asked me, and I just smiled.“I have packed a bag, and everything is in there,” I said, and she nodded.“I will go and get it Aunt,” Jamie said as he ran upstairs.“Well, I will have to close the shop for the day,” she said, and I shook my head.“Call Sam and ask him to fill in for you,” I said, and she smiled.“Great idea, my brain is all over the place that it feels like I am the one who is about to give birth,” she says, and I smiled.Over the past few months, I have grown so used to them that they now feel like family. We got into the car and drove straight to the hospital. It was a long 10 hours for me, but Daisy seemed to be having an even harde
Conan’s pov“You can’t just sit here and wallow in self-pity,” Bella said.I ignored her and then went back to my work.“She left you, she left even though she was the one who was at fault,” she added.“I am not wallowing in self-pity, I am just very busy and need you to leave me alone,” I said, and she frowned. She then looked around the room and her eyes landed on the calendar on the wall.“What is this for?” she asked and when I didn’t answer she looked at me.“You don’t answer me only when it is related to that girl. Oh gosh, this is 9 months. Have you been counting down the days of her pregnancy?” she asked me.When I didn’t answer her she gasped at this.“Amazing, I wonder what she gave you that you would do such a thing,” she said.“You said lunch right?” I asked her and she nodded.“Thank you brother,” she said as I was taking my jacket. She walked out first, and I looked at the calendar. She will have a child soon; I would have been by your side had you not left.Couldn’t you
Emma’s pov “You should really see the doctor about that,” Daisy said, and I just shrugged. “I will be okay, you should go with the kids,” I said, and Lily walked to me. “Mommy, does it hurt?” she asked me, and I shook my head. “Not even a bit, and Mommy will be going to the doctor today,” I said, and she nodded. She got on the bed and kissed my forehead. “Get well soon Mommy,” she said, and I smiled as I kissed her forehead. “Mom, you don’t have to come with us. I am 17 years old; I will drop them to school and then pick them up. Go with Aunt to the hospital,” Jamie said. “And I am also 11 years old, I think we will be just fine,” Rosie said. “Okay but call me when you drop them off and pick them up,” Daisy said to Jamie who needed. For the past few years, they have become my family. They love me and Lily like we are family and Daisy has become like an older sister. “We were supposed to go last week but you didn’t feel like it. This pain in your chest started a few weeks ag
Emma’s pov“Well, it seems like you have a hole in your heart,” the doctor said.“A hole, like an actual hole in my heart?” I asked him and he nodded.“Usually, such things aren’t that big of a deal. But yours got bigger over time, it could be because of stress, grief or even a broken heart,” he said.“Well, that sounds bad,” Daisy said and then looked at me.“So, what do I need to do? Surgery or medication? What are my options?” I asked him.“Surgery is the only option in this case,” he answered, and I nodded.“The risks, how high are they?” I asked the doctor.“About 80% ma’am, and we will have to perfume the surgery as soon as we can,” he said, and I frowned at this.“If I wait for some time if I wait for about two months. Will it be too late?” I asked him.“Actually, it might not be fatal but if you wait for two months then the risks might just go up,” he answered.“Why do you want to wait? It’s 20% chance which means you might make it out alive,” Daisy said, and I looked at her.“
Emma’s pov“We just saw each other yesterday, did you miss me that much?” I asked Lisa and she nodded.“I did miss you, and also something has been bothering me all night. So I decided to look into it,” she said and then handed me some files.“It’s obvious that Lily is Conan’s daughter. But then why would all those reports say that he can’t father a child?” she asked me and I sighed.“I have no idea, I have been trying to find out the truth but with no luck. You know how private hospitals can be,” I said and she nodded.“Lucky for you, my father has a lot of connections,” she said and then gestured that I open the file.“Every time when Conan would go to a fertility clinic to get tested. Somehow the news would leak and it would be everywhere,” she pointed out.I remember that throughout the years I would find an article talking about it.I always just thought that maybe they were lying for clout since they do that a lot. They would lie just so they could sell and make money.“So thank
Lisa’s pov“Thank you,” I said to Emma who just shrugged.I looked around the room, I have never had girlfriends before. The door opened and we all turned around to find Conan Hansen standing there. His eyes landed on Emma and I could tell the man was mesmerized.I looked at Emma and she was blushing under his gaze.So my suspicion was correct, this little girl behaves like Conan. She doesn’t shake people’s hands and is very picky about what to eat.She talks almost just like him although she looks just like her mother.“You look breathtaking,” he finally spoke up as he walked towards her.Next Kyle walked in and he looked at us and then frowned.“Women in white, should I be scared?” he asked and his eyes landed on me.“Aren’t you supposed to be getting married today? You are marrying some idiot, aren’t you?” he asked me and I shook my head.“I am sorry to disappoint you. But I am not marrying anyone tonight,” I said and he nodded.“Come on Daddy, mommy is wearing a beautiful dress. D
Lisa’s pov“Don’t try anything stupid tomorrow,” Dean warned and I looked at him and sighed.“You are getting what you want. Are the threats necessary?” I asked him and he smirked.“Of course they are, I don’t want you to start getting the wrong ideas,” he answered and I looked at him.He seemed angry for some reason but what?He is getting what he wants but seems to be nervous about it.“That bitch Emma, I don’t like your little friendship with her,” he said and I scoffed.“Emma and I are working together and that is all. Whatever little insecurity you are having about her. Don’t come and take it out on me,” I said and he looked at me.“Don’t forget, I have that video of your father,” he said and I shrugged.“So what? I am marrying you aren’t I? if you release it then you won’t get a penny from me,” I informed him.“What are you saying?” he asked me and I nodded.“I had a prenup drawn, if that video is ever leaked then you won’t get a cent from me,” I informed him.He looked at me an
Emma’s pov“So he shouldn’t suspect a thing?” Lisa asked me and I nodded.“Well, it’s a good plan. Anything to save my daughter from that vile man,” Mr Shaw said and I nodded. He then looked at me and I looked at him confused.“You have a strong sense of justice. Such a person can never do an injustice to another person,” he said and I looked at him confused.“He is trying to say that there is more than what meets the eye. I mean regarding the whole you and Matt drama,” Lisa explained.“I wouldn’t say there is more, but yes, everything isnt what it appears to be,” I answered and she nodded.“I knew it, you are just too hard working to be what those newspapers call you,” Mr Shaw said.“Not to forget intelligent as well,” Lisa added and I smiled at their compliments.“Thank you, I need to get going,” I said and got up and said my goodbyes to them.As I was walking into my office I found Dean sitting outside waiting for me.“He said that he is an old family friend,” my assistant explaine
Emma’s pov“He did what?” Mr Shaw asked me as he got up from the chair.“Exactly that sir, that son of a bitch has been blackmailing your daughter,” I said and I could see he was fuming.“Please come down,” I said trying to calm him down but he frowned.“No, I am going to kill that son of a bitch,” he said and I shook my head.“I have a better idea,” I said and he looked at me and then sighed.“Why are you helping us?” he asked me and I just shrugged.“I have a bone to pick with them as well,” I answered and he looked at me and then nodded.“What’s this great idea of yours?” he asked me.“I will answer, but first I need you to answer me. Why haven’t you come out yet?” I asked him and he sighed.“I just thought that it would ruin my relationship with my daughter. That she would look at me differently,” he answered.I smiled when I realized that his answer matched that of his daughter. Back when I asked Lisa why she didn’t ask her father or tell him she had a really similar answer. She
Emma’s povShe looked at me and then nodded. She tried on a few dresses while I gave her some feedback back way I could. When she came out again I found myself looking at her with a smile.Have you seen something and it feels like it was made for that person. This dress was made for Lisa and it fit her perfectly like a glove.“You look beautiful,” I said and she smiled but then started sobbing out of the blue. She ran back to the dressing room and I went after her to check what is going on.“Are you okay?” I asked her and she nodded but still continued crying.“What does Dean have on you?” I asked her and she looked at me confused.“His mother worked at your house, she had access and maybe found something that could ruin you. And the son, somehow blackmailed you into marrying him,” I explained to her.I know Dean, he probably realized that just getting money from her once wouldn’t be enough for him.So he just decided to marry his cash cow, that way he can milk it for the rest of his
Emma’s pov“Emma Hansen, is that you?” Dean asked me and I nodded.“Yes it is me,” I said and watched how he smirked and then nodded.“You two are working together right?” he asked Lisa who nodded.“So how is it going?” he asked me and I just shrugged.“It’s going really well, your future wife is really one smart woman,” I said and he nodded at this.“She is, isn't she?” he asked looking at her.“Oh, I wanted to tell you something before I forget. I called a few magazines and newspapers to cover our wedding,” he said and I saw how Lisa frowned.“You did what? But you and I agreed that we would have something small and intimate,” Lisa said and he nodded.“Yes, it will still be small and intimate. Just that we will share it with the whole world. I want the whole world to see that I am marrying this amazing woman,” Dean said with a smile.Lisa nodded and her phone rang and she picked it up.“It’s the boutique. I need to go and try on a few wedding dresses,” she said and got up.“How abou
Emma’s pov“That is just amazing, I am happy with this,” Mr Shaw said and I smiled at this.“Thank you,” I said and all eyes in the room were on me.Matt, he has been having a hard time hiding his hatred towards me.“Excuse me for a second,” I said getting up to take a phone call from Daisy. It could be an emergency, she is with the kids and also is trying to start her business here in the city. She found a place but it is still undergoing renovations, she was tired of living in a small town.It has it’s benefits but at the same time it limits growth as well.It is very important that one moves away from their home town.Plus, her husband was born here in the city. She wants the kids to be closer to their father’s family since her family isn't even supportive.“What’s wrong?” I asked her the moment I answered the phone.“Nothing much, just that you should buy me a nice luxury bag because your daughter is such a problem,” she said and I chuckled at this.“What did she do now?” I asked
Emma’s pov“What did you say to Sarah?” Conan asked me and I looked at him confused. He handed me his tablet and I had a look at what he was reading. It was an article written by Sarah, she was apologizing for everything she wrote about me.Spoke about our past at the orphanage and all the things she knows about me.She was praising me and it was actually the best article she ever wrote. It had so much rawness and emotion, not just because she wrote about how great I am.“I don’t know what happened,” I said and then sighed as I looked at Conan.“I do hate that her so called family got away with it. Adopting a child just so they could treat her life trash,” I said and Conan smiled.“Well, good thing I managed to get even with them. Or I tried,” he said and I looked at him confused.“What did you do?” I asked him and he just shrugged.“I found out that they have a connection with one of our business. They are some small time supplier, I fired them and got new suppliers. And they are als
