A beautiful morning, rays of mellow sunlight filtered through the windows and shone on David's eyes.
Being a sleepyhead, he hated seeing the rays of sunlight in his room early in the morning. He always warned his family housemaid to close his window curtains, because of the rays of early morning sunlight.
"I'm going to kill her," he cursed under his breath with his closed eyes as the sunlight reflected in the room.
Yet he still lay limply on the bed, like a broken doll draped in a heavy blanket. Just as he turned to the other side, to close the curtains, with his eyes closed, he hit his face on something warm, and he startled out of his sleep.
He wondered what he had hit his face with, forcibly he opened his eyelids and bolted up to a sitting posture, whipping his head around in wide-eyed confusion.
After taking a moment to force sleep away from his eyes, he couldn't recognize the room he was in.
"This is not my room!" He was startled.
He closed his eyes back, perhaps thinking he must be dreaming, suddenly a hand reached out from behind and touched his back. He trembled like a dehydrated leaf, he quickly turned his head around, opened his eyes, beheld his face, and rested on a woman lying beside him.
"Shit" A scream came out of his mouth, causing the bed to shake, and he sprang up to his feet.
"What the hell is going on?...what happened here?" He shouted. He looked around the room, wanting to check what was happening, trying to comprehend the situation since he knew he wasn't in his room. A realization hit his brain, dawning on him at the moment, that he was in the maid's room.
"What I'm doing here" he screamed and startled the maid beside him out of her sleep. The maid shot up from the bed shivering.
David stared at the floor, and his face rested on the messy clothes on the floor. He recognized one to be the cloth he had worn last night. His eyes moved to his body, hoping his clothes were on his body.
A sudden laughter broke out of his mouth. After seeing that he was in underwear only, his laughter made the maid tremble where she lay low on the bed.
He moved his eyes back to the bed, and he glared at his maid, Rowan, who lunged into the corner of the bed. She quickly draped herself up with the blanket. Seeing how David scrutinized his body with a deadly gaze, she looked around to find a way to escape the room.
David didn't look happy. Seeing the atmosphere in the room, he clutched his aching forehead desperately searching through his memories to unravel what happened last night, but he couldn't recall anything.
Without uttering a word, he bent down to pick up the scattered clothes on the ground, and gently put them on.
"Why not put on your clothes and explain to me what happened here?" David said in a cold voice, his voice full of disdain.
In great shame, Rowan snatched her clothes from the floor and put them on, thinking about how to explain the situation to her boss.
Anger seized David, his fingers refused to move, he sat rigid on the bed for one long moment, the blood throbbing in his temples and all the hatred that a child can feel concentrated in his heart.
"What happened here?" He repeated.
He tried not to sound too scary yet his words dripped with disdain as he asked repeatedly
Rowan lurked on the edge of the bed, she was shivering and nervous, and she couldn't bring herself to look into her boss's eyes. She had just lost her virginity yet she couldn't dare accuse her boss of forcefully taking her virginity away, since she knew he wasn't himself last night.
Slowly, David stood to his feet, he scrutinized the room, hoping to find the camera, thinking his housemaid might want to blackmail him. He had always disliked Rowan's altitude. If he had his way, he would have sacked her a long time ago, but his nice parents wouldn't allow him to sack a poor maid who depends on their family for her daily up-keeping.
He walked towards the edge of the bed and grabbed Rowan's shoulders, pulling her roughly against the wall.
"I said what happened here" his voice echoed, anger and rage burning through him.
The look of fear and nervousness on Rowan's face was replaced with anger at that moment. She glared at David, seeing how he was treating her. Just then she wanted to tell him what he did to her.
"You forced yourself on me last night", Rowan broke out. Although she never wanted to tell him, she knew he was not himself last night, he was under the influence of something she couldn't place her hand on. She didn't want him to feel guilty, but David's despicable action toward her made her spill the beans.
David's hand moved to her neck, choking the life out of her.
"You can't blackmail me, You use something against me. Never, I won't fall for your lies, you slut" he roared.
Rowan struggled with his tightened grip on her neck, she slapped his hands, wanting him to leave her neck.
At that moment, David's face rested on the blood, on Rowan's clothes, and the cloth was on the bed. Suddenly it dawned on him that she had just lost her virginity. A gall of guilt struck him, and in an instant, he removed his grip on her neck.
Seeing where David's face landed, with great shame, Rowan covered the blood with a blanket.
"Young master, I didn't do anything against you, nor did I force you, but I perceived you weren't yourself last night...." Rowan was explaining, but suddenly David interrupted her from continuing.
"I'm not myself….You know this, still, you allow me on you. Who does that? And you expect me to believe the lie …You are nothing but a cheap whore. For your information, don't think you can blackmail me with this, because if you do, you won't live to tell the story of what I have in stock for you. Moreover, I can sue you for taking advantage of me since you are the only one with last night's memory. You must have used something against me and I'm sure of it, I can't stoop so low to sleep with a whore like you in my consciousness", David said. Anger rippled through him as he stormed out of her room.
She swallowed hard, wanting to chase after him, but she couldn't, she had to accept some of the blame.
She allowed emotion to overrule her sense of judgment last night. She could have cried out for help last night but she didn't want the parents to see him as a bad person.
She lost her virginity just to save his face and integrity in front of his parents, but what did she get in return? Being called a whore.
The word slut resonated in Rowan's head, and she burst into laughter, but the laughter ended up bringing out tears from her eyes.
With gritted teeth, she started raining curses on David repeatedly.
"Jerk, spoiled brat, full of himself"!
Rowan's life had changed dramatically after her one night stand with David. He used every opportunity to insult her and belittle her. Despite his attempts to relieve her of her job, his parents staying with him made it difficult.Whenever David's parents asked why he wanted Rowan gone, he struggled to find a reliable answer. He couldn't betray his parents' trust by revealing the truth about his relationship with their housemaid.David knew that the only solution was to move out and live in a separate mansion, but his parents wouldn't allow it. As their only child, they were unwilling to let him go. The only way he could persuade them was to get married.David had been considering proposing to his girlfriend, Flora, but he didn't want anyone to think that he was only marrying her to attain the position of President of his father's company. He knew that he was next in line for the position, but his uncle was against him.To avoid any potential rumors or backlash, David decided that he w
David sat behind a massive mahogany desk, with a towering bookcase on his left, filled with leather-bound volumes and expensive art objects. The walls were decorated with tasteful abstract paintings, and the air was infused with the scent of fresh flowers in a crystal vase. His laptop and a pile of papers were neatly arranged on his desk, with a Montblanc pen resting on a notepad. The room was spacious, with high ceilings and large windows that overlooked the bustling city below.David worked on his laptop, his sharp features and chiseled jawline were accentuated by the dim lighting, and his bespoke suit hugged his muscular frame perfectly. He exuded an air of confidence and authority as if he owned the world and everything in it.His brows furrowed in concentration as he typed away on the keyboard. He was a man who prided himself on his success, and nothing was going to stand in the way of that.Suddenly, there was a loud bang at the door, and David's secretary burst into the office,
David walked into his family's house, expecting to see his mother in her usual calm state. But as he entered the living room, he saw her sitting on the sofa, her face twisted in anger. Next to her, Rowan was trembling and looking down at the ground."Good afternoon, Mom. What's going on?" David asked, trying to keep his voice steady. His mother ignored his greeting and pointed an accusing finger at Rowan. "Do you know what this girl has done?" she hissed. "She's pregnant, and she says you're the father!"David felt his heart thumping out of his chest. He looked at Rowan, who was still shivering, and then back at his mother. He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out.His mother stood up, her voice rising. "How could you do this, David? And with a maid, of all people! Did you even think about the consequences?David didn't know what to say. He knew he had made a mistake, but he didn't think it would come to this. His mother's anger was palpable, and he could feel the disappoin
David's lips inched closer to Rowan's, her heart fluttered with a mix of nervousness and longing. She closed her eyes, bracing herself for the touch she secretly craved, even though she knew deep down that David didn't love her. Still, in her quiet submission, she hoped to win his affection, willing to endure the pain and humiliation that came with it.Just as their lips were about to meet, a sudden buzzing from David's phone shattered the fragile moment. David's gaze fell upon the screen of the phone, revealing Flora's name as the caller. He removed his hand from the wall, leaving Rowan standing there, her desires unfulfilled.David's lips formed a sly grin as he turned his gaze back to Rowan, finding her eyes still closed. She didn't want him to witness her desire for his kiss, afraid of the scorn he might cast upon her. With her eyes shut, she hoped that he would take the phone call as a chance to exit the room without catching her in such a vulnerable state."Did you think I woul
David arrived at Flora's luxurious mansion, parking his car and making his way towards the entrance. He had been invited under the pretense that Flora was unwell, but as he stepped inside the room, he found her standing there, elegantly dressed in a transparent nightgown, radiating an unexpected vitality.A mixture of surprise and suspicion crossed David's face as he broke the silence. "Flora, did you trick me into coming here? You don't seem sick at all."Flora, her lips curved into a seductive smile, met his gaze. "What did you expect, darling?" Her voice dripped with intrigue. As Flora tapped her toes on the ground, she slowly closed the distance between them, wrapping her hand around his arm. Sensing her intentions, David managed to subtly evade her grasp, his eyes fixed on her. "Flora, I must return home. I came here because you said you needed me."A flicker of anger danced in Flora's eyes, and she turned, backing David, her voice tinged with disappointment. "So, you'd rather sp
Rowan stepped out of the cab in front of the restaurant and quickly paid the cab driver. She walked with purpose into the restaurant, her eyes scanning the restaurant for a suitable place to sit. Finding a spot near the edge, she settled down and took a moment to observe her surroundings. As she sat there, lost in her thoughts, an attentive server approached her with a warm smile. "Good evening, ma'am. Is there anything I can assist you with? Perhaps a drink or something to eat?" the server inquired.Rowan's throat felt parched, and she longed for a refreshing drink. She checked her purse and realized that she didn't have much money on her. She mustered a polite smile and replied, "Thank you for asking, but I'm actually waiting for someone. I might consider ordering something if the person arrives." She said politely wanting to discharge the server and at the same time, not wanting the server to make her leave since they won't allow you to sit inside the restaurant without buying, one
Flora angrily stepped out of her car, parked it in the assigned spot, and entered the house. The maids hurriedly came down to take the bags from her hands and greeted her, but she didn't bother to respond. The servants working in the mansion had learned to expect her mistreatment. They relied on her for their livelihood, so they had no choice but to endure her shortcomings. As Flora ascended the staircase, she wearily removed her high heels and slipped into the comforting embrace of her fluffy slippers. She entered her bedroom, intending to shed the burdens of the day, but her tranquility was abruptly interrupted by the buzzing of her phone. Curiosity mingled with trepidation as she glanced at the screen, hoping to confirm the caller's identity. To her dismay, it was her beloved father on the line. A surge of anxiety gripped her heart as she contemplated what her father might reveal. She dreaded the possibility that he had discovered the recent decline in their company's stock value
Rowan was left awestruck as she reconnected with her long-lost friend, Rolland. A mixture of nostalgia and delight washed over her, bringing a smile to her face as she reminisced about the incredible times they had shared together.Little did she imagine that Rolland had transformed into an extraordinary man, far surpassing her expectations. The memories of her once harbored aggression towards him now seemed trivial, and she couldn't help but marvel at the person he had become.Yet, amid the joyous reunion, Rowan found herself unable to fathom the motivations behind Flora's decision to administer sexual enhancement pills to David. A surge of anger welled up within her as she clenched her fist, remembering the humiliating incident when Flora carelessly spilled a drink on her. It was unjust that David had been mocking her because of his girlfriend's thoughtless actions, for which Rowan was blameless. As Rowan's imagination wandered, thoughts of Flora's words filled her mind. She wondere
Instantly, the air around David crackled with tension. He swiftly shed his suit, the fabric feeling heavy in his trembling as he handed it over to Richard, who felt like crying at the back of his boss—this was all his boss had been working for in the past few months: to have Miss Rowan to himself finally, without fear of Flora hurting her again. Just then, James' phone buzzed, interrupting the silence that engulfed the atmosphere. Seeing the caller, James picked up at once. "Hello, babe," James said into the phone, drawing curious glances from David and Richard. To them, only Rowan would receive such a nickname. Seeing their suspicious gazes, he switched the phone to loudspeaker. "Hi, Naomi, you can speak now," James invited. "Miss Rowan has been rushed to the hospital. She's unable to fly; she started having contractions before she entered the plane," Naomi informed them. Before James could reply, David snatched the phone from his hands. "Miss Naomi, this is her husband at the ho
The room was alive with happiness as Flora jubilated, knowing that in a few hours, every TV station and blogger would be buzzing about her wedding to David Thompson, the president of the Oregon group of companies."As the heiress of Seraphims Holding, I only deserve the best," Flora declared from where she lay on the bed, with Andrew planting kisses on her neck and along her jawline."You know I will compensate you handsomely. I panicked when I found out David had regained his memory but didn't want me anymore. I thought everything was over, after years of patiently waiting," Flora confessed, a smile playing on her lips."I've told you that you don't have any problems. Since you've opened up to me about your true feelings and that it's me you love, and only his money you desire, since you've promised that it's my child you'll carry in his house, then I don't have any issues. The wedding is set to proceed, and in a few hours, you'll be Mrs. Thompson officially, but inwardly, you'll be M
It had been a few days, and tension hung thick in the air as Steve returned to James's house to deliver his response. The silence that filled the room was deafening, each breath heavy with anticipation. Jessica, though she thought she was prepared for any outcome, couldn't help but rub her hands together nervously. Ryan, sensing the tension, rested his head on her lap, his instincts picking up on the palpable anxiety swirling around them. "So, brother, have you finally made your decision?" James asked, his tone harsh yet tinged with regret. In the past few days, he had come to realize that his emotions had clouded his judgment. He understood that everything Steve had done was out of love for him — Steve didn't want him to lose the love of his life, just as James had lost his. It was this realization that had prompted James to allow Steve to make his own decision, even if it meant James would have to bear the pain of parting with his brother, if only for a while. "Yes, kid brother,"
What?" David's father asked, surprised by his son's allegations. "Dad, answer me. Are you involved with her too?" David demanded. "No, I'm not. And I'm disappointed that you would think so little of your father," David's father said. "I don't care, Dad. If she knows something about you significant enough to trade for my safety, then it must be substantial, and I need to know about it today," David said defiantly "Sit down, and I will tell you everything," David's father said. Reluctantly, David slumped into the chair, his anger palpable, emanating from him like a dark cloud. "Firstly, I discovered the kind of person Flora was after you started seeing her. Knowing how much you love her compelled me to dig deeper. I didn't want you to end up with the wrong woman. After finding out that she was involved with different men, I decided to confront her myself instead of letting you do it. During our conversation, she confessed that her uncle had forced her into those situations and that
"What do you mean, David? It was the marriage certificate we both signed, isn't that what we both wanted back then? Just because you didn't have the memory doesn't change the fact that your mother is aware of it, and a mother can't lie," Flora's voice came over the phone, her tone laced with frustration and desperation. She wasn't even attempting to come to David's house, realizing she had nothing left to lose."Flora, even if it is true, I don't want this marriage anymore. We have to annul the certificate," David stated firmly, using a word he never wanted to utter."What? David, are you trying to use me and then discard me? We've been dating for almost seven years. Now you don't want me anymore, and you didn't consider the repercussions it will have on my family and me, on the company, on everyone who believed we would end up together... I won't force you, David, but think about the consequences. We are legally married starting next week. If we don't announce it publicly, I don't kn
Naomi could only hum softly as she listened to Rowan's teasing remarks. Bending down, she reached for the coffee cups placed in front of them, an order she had made for both of them. Savoring the warmth, she took a delicate sip before carefully placing the cup back on the table.Inwardly, Naomi grasped the subtle undertones of Rowan's words. Since meeting James, she felt a shift within herself, a desire to embody qualities that might earn his admiration. But could she confide in Rowan that the catalyst for her change was the very man who harbored feelings for her?"Miss Rowan, I can't say there's any love involved. Let's just say someone's critique nudged me towards self-improvement," Naomi replied, her voice tinged with uncertainty. Rowan's gentle smile lingered, leaving Naomi to ponder if her response had hit the mark."You know, being challenged by someone and feeling compelled to better oneself because of them, well, it's akin to love. You might not realize it now, but soon enough
Before James exited the hospital, he had arranged to meet Naomi, only to hear the distressing news that she was banned from leaving the house. Naomi, a pivotal figure in her father's company, had inadvertently stirred up trouble by being seen at clubs, inviting scrutiny from shareholders and adding pressure to her father's plate. She was slated to marry into another wealthy family to enhance the company's stature. James, though conflicted, found himself driving toward Naomi's house despite his vow to stay away and avoid complicating matters for both families. The prospect of being desired by Naomi's father for his daughter weighed heavily on him, even as he questioned his own intentions. Arriving at the grand mansion, James couldn't help but admire the exquisite taste of Naomi's father. The meticulously landscaped gardens, the elegant architecture both inside and out, and the grandeur of the estate left James in awe, despite his familiarity with opulent surroundings. "It seems I'll
David's desperate calls echoed in the air, chasing after Rowan who seemed to be slipping away from him. The tears streaming down her face mirrored the storm of emotions raging within her. The weight of reality crashed upon her, a cruel revelation that left her heart shattered. The love she thought would one day be hers had been claimed, sealed, and signed on a marriage certificate. Her steps quickened, driven by a mix of anguish and fear. She wished she could stop, and gather herself, but the intensity of her emotions made it impossible to fake composure. The fear of David thinking she was running away from his happiness gnawed at her, yet the pain of witnessing the love of her life marrying someone else was unbearable.Lost in the labyrinth of her thoughts and the ache in her chest, Rowan's misstep jolted her back to reality. Her leg collided with an obstacle, threatening to send her crashing to the ground. Just as she teetered on the edge of falling, a strong hand encircled her, savi
Three agonizing days had crawled by since Rowan left David's house. The deafening silence hung heavy in her heart as she resisted the urge to reach out to him or answer his father's calls. Flora's mysterious behavior and her cousin's news about an award only added to the tumult of emotions swirling within her. The absence of David was a constant ache, the void left by his departure filled with memories that refused to fade. Today found Rowan grappling with the challenges of the IT department at the hospital, a temporary distraction from the emotional turmoil. As she navigated the hospital corridors, a man emerged from a ward—discharged after six months of battling mental illness triggered by a traumatic accident. His struggle mirrored Rowan's own internal conflict. The man, seemingly normal at times but haunted by bouts of lunacy, resonated with her. What gripped her most was the unwavering love poured onto him by his family, clinging to the hope of his eventual restoration, even in
