Meeting him again

Rowan thought for a while, unsure of what to say. Tonight's David was acting strangely, and she wasn't used to sitting and chatting with him like this.

Reluctantly, she took a few more bites of rice, but she couldn't eat it properly. She chewed slowly before finally swallowing.

David had finished eating already, but he didn't seem in a rush to leave. He sat across from her, his gaze fixed on her, making her uncomfortable while she ate.

Unable to bear it any longer, she put down her spoon and asked him, "Did you come back today for something?"

It should have been a simple question to answer, just telling the truth would be enough. But David remained silent for a long time.

Eventually, he said, "I came back to get something."

"What is it? Do you want me to help you look for it?" Rowan asked, standing up and offering her assistance. But David declined.
