“Go inside and undress because you are not getting married to this useless man—get that into your head, Sarah!”
Mr. Richard shouted at Sarah, who was descending the stairs, clad in a whitish wedding gown like the shy with a bright smile on her face.
Sarah's expression darkened. She stared at her family in the living room and saw her stepmom, Mrs. Hannah, and stepsister, Agatha, smirking, while her dad, Mr. Richard, glared at her with disdain.
She heaved a deep sigh and replied calmly,
“I am not a child anymore, Dad; I'm old enough to make decisions for myself ”
“Collins is the man my heart beats for, and today is the day we are supposed to receive your blessings on our wedding”
“Dad, accept this marriage for once, because I'm not changing my mind on my wedding day.”
Mr. Richard's eyes reddened with fury when he heard that from Sarah. He gazed at her and ranted,
“Never! There is no way I will allow you to marry this poor man, not today or ever. You deserve better than this, Sarah!”
“Marrying this gold digger will bring shame to this family and ruin our reputation.”
“What will people think when the media publish that I have allowed my heir to marry a pauper?”
Mrs. Hannah giggled and teased,
“That will be shameful anyway because they aren't suitable at all.”
“And she is expecting us to put on an expensive outfit and follow her to this cheap wedding,” Agatha mockingly added.
Sarah felt sharp pain in her heart hearing those words. She recalled the promise she made to Collins that she would never turn her back on his proposal even if her family disapproved because she loved him and was ready to sacrifice everything for their love.
Sarah knew Mr. Richard had warned them not to relate to poor men because he despised their presence.
When Collins proposed to her during their college graduation, she knew Mr. Richard wouldn't approve of their marriage, but she thought she could convince him since she was his beloved daughter and the rightful heir to his companies.
Months passed by with Sarah still trying to convince her father to accept their marriage.
The last time she brought it up, Mr. Richard told her if she wanted to remain part of the family she should forget about marrying Collins and focus on the family business.
But she proceeded with Collins, and they fixed a date for their wedding, considering her father would approve when he saw her in her wedding gown.
Sarah gazed at her dad, whose eyes were reddened with fury, and she retorted while tears were in her eyes,
“Das, I know you have always wanted the best for me since my mom died”
“You always put a smile on my face when my mother's memories fill up my mind. My happiness is your priority, but if you still want that for me, then accept our marriage”
“Collins is the one who holds my happiness because I love him so much and he loves me too. With Collins around me, we can fulfill all my goals for your companies”
“Don't judge him by his looks, because he is a hard worker and a visionary man just as you wanted, Dad.”
Mr. Richard's heart hammered against his chest when he saw tears soaked in Sarah's eyes, pleading for a pauper like Collins.
He wondered what Sarah found attractive about Collins because he recalled when she introduced him to the family, he was smelling like a dead animal surrounded by houseflies on the street.
He thought about their marriage and felt anger clawing at his chest. He gritted his fists angrily and shouted at Sarah, which made her quiver.
“You aren't normal, Sarah!! What's coming over you?”
“Since your mom died, I thought you would grow and be decent and visionary like her. Due to your knowledge in business, I invested much into your education, got the best college, and organized expensive classes for you.”
“I exposed you to my top business partners and organizations. What will they think when they hear that you are married to a vagrant, stinky man like Collins? Your mom will be even shameful in her grave.”
“I don't care about people's opinions,” Sarah blurted out angrily. She gazed at them staring at her unblinkingly, and she fiercely continued,
“As long as Collins loves me, I will marry him today, and none of your words will change my mind.”
Mr. Richard gritted his fists, and he broke Sarah's cheek with a heavily slapped.
Splash...
Sarah groaned in pain, and Mrs. Hannah and Agatha's eyes widened with a pleasant shock.
Mr. Richard gazed at Sarah while tears were streaming down her cheeks, and he hurled,
“If you leave this house, consider yourself a stranger. Your sister will inherit all my properties when I'm dead because you don't deserve to be my daughter and I will ruin your wedding”
Mr. Richard's words pierced through Sarah’s heart like daggers. She recalled the promise she made to Collins and barged out without sparing them a glance.
Mr. Richard's eyes watered when his gaze followed Sarah as she struggled with his bodyguards at the entrance to exit the house. He signaled them to free her, and Sarah angrily stormed out.
Agatha and Mrs. Hannah smirked when Sarah disappeared. They felt God had answered their prayers.
When Sarah’s mom, Mrs. Amina, was alive, they were jealous of how Mr. Richard loved her and Sarah.
They thought Mr. Richard would give all his properties to them when he died because he had acute myeloid leukemia, in stage four.
Mr. Richard was desperately in need of a child when he married Mrs. Amina.
Years passed by, but Amina couldn't reproduce, so Mr. Richard married Mrs. Hannah, and in a month's time, Mrs. Amina became pregnant.
Mr. Richard's heart raced with joy when he heard, and when Mrs. Amina delivered, Mrs. Hannah also became pregnant, and she gave birth to Agatha.
Agatha was a clubbing girl, while Sarah became a visionary lady who was given special knowledge in business by nature. Due to that, Mr. Richard showcased intense love to Sarah and took her to every meeting.
When Mrs. Amina died, Mrs. Hannah was overwhelmed because she thought the properties would be handed to them.
They planned to clear Sarah from their path, but when Sarah left, they knew she had concluded everything for them.
Mrs. Hannah and Agatha neared Mr. Richard, who was burning with anger sitting on the couch, and they consoled him.

Sarah paced around for twenty minutes in search of a cab on the main road but didn't spot one.
She reached out for her phone and called Collins, but it was unreachable. Instead, she saw multiple messages from him, which made her worried. She tapped on the messages and started reading.
[ Babe, we have been waiting for you for an hour now. Where are you? Please don't disappoint me because I love you so much. ]
“An hour,” Sarah muttered, and many questions conflicted in her mind.
“What if they called off the wedding? What if Collins is angry at me now?”
Sarah intended to stand between the road and stop any car, but suddenly a black Range Rover pulled over in her direction, and a man appeared from the driver's seat. From the look of the man, Sarah could tell he was the driver.
“Miss, my boss awaits you in the car,” the driver asked shyly.
“Why don't you tell your rude boss to come instead?” Sarah replied rudely.
The driver turned and whispered some words into the car, and a man dressed in an expensive suit, with a pointy nose and a well-shaped beard, emerged from the car. His body aura induced the atmosphere with a fragrant smell as he walked confidently towards Sarah, with a pleasant smile on his pink lips.
Sarah smiled broadly when she saw him because he looked familiar. She studied him for a while and shouted in agony,
“Isn't Raymond Dickson from Fordham University?”
Raymond nodded with a pleasant smile and Sarah recalled she was in a haste to her wedding,
“Please give me a ride to Times Square Church for my wedding.”
Raymond felt sharp pains in his heart when he heard that from Sarah.
When they were in university, Raymond proposed to Sarah, but she turned him down because of Collins in their first year.
Raymond left and applied for a different school in another country because he couldn't bear to see the woman he loved with another man.
When he graduated, he thought that Sarah had broken up, so he came back to see if things could work out for them because his heart still beat for her.
When he saw Sarah in her wedding gown, he felt his heart sinking but suppressed it and pretended to be cool.
They got into the car, and at the drop of a hat, the driver parked at the church’s garage. Sarah gazed around and was amazed by the multiple cars around the compound.
Immediately she entered the church, everyone's eyes directed to her as she walked diligently on the red carpet, staring at the love of her life, dressed nicely with the priest behind him.
“Wow, the bride is so beautiful!” A compliment arose from the guests.
“Why is she alone? Where is her father?”
“Maybe Mr. Richard didn't approve of their marriage because they aren't comparable.”
Their compliments pierced through Sarah's heart like bullets, but she suppressed the pain and barged to the altar. Collins engulfed her with a pleasant hug, and he whispered in her ear,
“I knew you wouldn't betray me, honey. I love you so much.”
The priest cleared his throat, and they turned to face him. Staring at both with a warm smile on their mouth, the priest started with Sarah.
“Do you, Sarah Richard, take Collins Stones as your lawfully wedded husband, to cherish in love and friendship, in strength and in weakness, in success and in disappointment, to love him faithfully, today, tomorrow, and for as long as you shall live?”
Sarah gazed inwardly into Collins' bluish eyes and felt intense happiness in her heart that their four-year relationship had reached its potential as they envisioned.
She heaved a sigh and replied with a smile,
“I do.”
The priest repeated the same words to Collins Stones, and when he responded, all the guests shouted,
“You may now kiss the bride.”
They put the rings on each other's hands, and when Collins was about to kiss Sarah, a deep voice from the church’s door sent shivers down their spines.
“Stop this wedding, now!”
Sarah's heart hammered against her chest. She turned and saw everyone staring at Mr. Richard, who was standing at the door with Mrs. Hannah, Agatha, and some journalists.
"No, Dad, please don't cause a scene here because we are already married, and you can't do anything about it," Sarah pleaded, sobbing as she saw her father ordering the journalists to take pictures and video everything in the church hall. She knew that a wealthy businessman like Mr. Richard could ruin everything in a second, so she was terrified."Shut up!" Mr. Richard barked at Sarah, causing the guests to flinch and gaze at him unblinkingly. With anger in his eyes, Mr. Richard glared at Sarah, who was holding Collins' hand, and he ranted through gritted teeth, "I'm very ashamed of you, Sarah. I gave you everything a responsible father would.""I gave you my name, security, invested much into your education, and trusted you.""You never lacked anything in your world, and what did I gain in return? You abandoned our family and disobeyed me because of this pauper.""Such a disgraceful and ungrateful daughter!" a voice echoed from the guests."Yes, she doesn't deserve to remain part of
What is it, Mother? I can't bear to see you in tears while doing nothing. Please explain to us," Collins pleaded worriedly, as he grabbed her right hand."Mum, let us know what the situation is, because tears won't solve the problem," Sarah added, noticing the tears streaming down Mrs. Ruth's cheeks.Mrs. Ruth nodded and sniffled quietly, seeing their worried faces. She wiped her tears with the cloth Spendy handed her and lamented sadly, "The jewelry shop our family depends on financially has burned to the ground. Nothing is left; everything is gone.""What? Everything burned to dust just like that, with no information about the culprit?" Collins exclaimed, causing Sarah and Spendy's mouths to drop in shock."This is strange, Mum, because I might know who did it," Spendy retorted, drawing their curious gazes toward her. Seeing their faces full of anticipation, she explained, "I just got fired from my workplace. I called a colleague for an explanation, and she told me Mr. Richard had
It was a blighted morning in Richard’s Mansion. Mr. Richard stood in front of his wardrobe's mirror as he clad in blue suit He barged from his bedroom to the living room feeling enraged, and when he reached. His workers lavished him with greetings. “Good morning, Boss”He curtly nodded, and the workers glanced at him unblinkly as he moved past them without even a glare.Mrs. Hannah embraced him with a pleasant smile when she noticed the weird look he carried and she retorted worriedly,“What's eating you up, honey”“Nothing” Mr. Richard replied almost immediately, and he intended to bypassed her, but his wife held his right hand which made him fixed his gaze on her, and he retorted coldly,“What do you want?”“I want you to make Agatha the CEO of your companies as you intended to do for Sarah, and stop giving us attitude because we aren't the one who betrayed you. it was your so-called beloved daughter, Sarah in case you had forgotten” Mrs. Hannah replied in a higher tone.Mr Richard
“You were my biggest problem, Sarah. Dad always underestimated me when he compared me to you. I tried my best for him to notice me just once, but he was always after you.”“In our first year in college, Dad was already hoping you would become his heir when you graduated. He had plans for you and left me with nothing. It hurt.”“I explained everything to Collins, including my plan to take you down and take over Dad's properties. He understood me because he loved me and cared about my happiness.”Sarah felt Agatha's words pierce her heart like needles, but she suppressed the pain and maintained a strong front. She glanced at Collins with tear-filled eyes and saw him smirking at her. Agatha continued, “I conspired with Collins and told him to do everything he could to win your heart. I knew you too well, Sarah. Once you fell in love, you’d sacrifice everything for it.”“My heart raced with joy when he told me you were madly in love with him. That’s when I sped up my plans. I told him to
"That’s what's tormenting my mind. I feel helpless now. I have no one to turn to. I don’t have a job. They took everything from me and ruined my life. I just feel like ending it all," Sarah muttered through her tears.Rita looked at her, sensing the deep pain reflected in her tear-filled eyes. She sat beside Sarah and consoled her, "I know you're hurting, but you need to pull yourself together. We will make them pay for what they've done; it’s just a matter of time and planning.""And about the job—my friend resigned from being a waitress at First Class Restaurant. I’ll talk to the manager tomorrow and see if he can hire you."Hearing that, Sarah wiped her eyes and pulled Rita into a tight hug, expressing her gratitude. Rita smiled warmly and whispered, "It's nothing."After a while, Sarah glanced at the wall clock and noticed it was already past 9 p.m. She felt drained from the toxic day. She rose and walked to Rita's bedroom without saying another word. Rita didn’t take it persona
Raymond's heart flourished with joy when he heard that from Sarah. He engulfed her with a passionate hug, which tightened her breath. He pulled her back, looked intensely into his teary eyes, and felt the urge to promise her for accepting his proposal, because deep down, he knew love was finished in her heart because of the betrayal, and due to that, she would find it difficult to love him as he wanted, but he hoped that as they moved together she would learn to love and trust him.“It sucks my heart a lot that the bastard has betrayed your love and trust. I understand your desires for revenge, but don't forget that I will never let you down.”“I will love you, protect you, and do everything in my power to bring your enemies down for you to be happy again, I promise you, Sarah.” A warm air blushed Sarach's face as Raymond's words lifted a weight of pain from her heart. She felt relieved, protected, and trusted in his words. She glanced at his handsome face and uttered in a grind,“
The driver turned off the engine at the parking lot and proceeded to open the door for Sarah to come out. Sarah grinds at him and steps down. She caught a glimpse around the mansion, and her eyes widened in surprise upon seeing how edifice and lavishly the mansion looked. Numerous cars had been arranged beautifully at the lots, and there were bodyguards pacing around, ensuring safety and providing security. She has been into numerous mansions with her dad, but none of them are near the one she was in when compared. A creepy smile escaped her lips when she thought of the sudden changes in her life. Days ago, she had thrown on the street without any hopes, but now, here she was, standing in a luxury and safe home. She turned to Benjamin with a pleasant smile and asked,“Why are a lot of bodyguards here?”“Our boss assigned them today for your protection, Mam,” Benjamin replied respectfully."This is unbelievable; Ray cares so much about me,” Sarah mouthed, and she felt her heart mel
"Sorry, Boss, but they are already seated, waiting for you,” Mike replied at the other end. “Well, I'm the boss; they won't die waiting for my presence." Raymond retorted, his voice sounding hash. He cut the line and heaved a deep sigh to calm his nerves. He glanced at Sarah, who was staring at him with a mockery smile, and when he was about to talk... Sarah planted a passionate kiss on her lips, making his heart race with joy. “Are you okay? Now, Boss, because I've given you what you wanted." Sarah mockery uttered, staring at Ray, whose eyes were widened in surprise.Raymond grinned, feeling warmth in his chest, and he said, “I'm blessed to have you, sweetheart. Let's go to the company because I'm making you the new marketing manager.”“Thanks for your trust in me,” Sarah appreciated, her heart racing with joy. After the long drive, they reached the company. As they entered the sleek, modern office, Sarah felt a surge of excitement. It was a world she had always dreamed of—a wor
“Why don't you ask him instead and stop glaring at me as if I'm a beast?” Lucy poured out angrily as she glared at Sarah, who was looking at her unblinkingly. Sarah averted her eyes from her and shifted them on Raymond, who was stunned, sitting on a chair while his hand was on his cheeks. Sarah walked to him with a worried expression because she couldn't understand why Raymond's mood had changed all of a sudden, and she wondered what kind of conversation they had that had silenced him. When she reached Raymond's side, she glanced at him and uttered with a soft tone, “What's wrong, honey? Why aren't you talking to me? Are you alright?”Lucy rolled her eyes in annoyance when she heard Sarah's soft voice, and she let out a devilish grin, which made Sarah catch her glimpse. Raymond glared at Sarah's worried face, and she wondered how she would react when he told her that he had impregnated Lucy and it was an accident because he didn't mean it to happen. He ran his hand into his hair
Flashback… “I'm so tired and angry at myself for crying for Sarah's returned, but I don't know why I can't get her out of my head I wish I can do that because she won't come back even I cry my eyes out” Raymond whimpered as he gulped the 6th bottle of alcohol. He was intoxicated to the extent that he didn't notice he was laying down in his bedroom with pants only. He heard a knock on the door and a smile appeared at the corner of his cheeks. He thought it was Sarah so he tried to open his eyes but he couldn't see properly due to the substance in the alcohol which made his vision blurry. The person knocked again and this time Raymond tried to get up with all his might thinking that Sarah would be upset if she stayed there long Knocking. He struggled on the floor searching for something to hold on to so that he could get up. He crawled to the bed and held onto it and successfully he was able to pull himself onto his feet, but he was pacing back and forth and couldn't keep his bal
So when do you want us to wait before you allow us to check on my nephew?” Mr. Tyson uttered, glaring at the doctor with disguise, who remained standing at the doorway. “Let's wait for some time and abide by Raymond's words.” The doctor replied with a smile when he noticed the anger in Mr. Tyson's eyes. “No, I suggest you should allow us to get in and check up on him because we have already accused Sarah as the culprit. What if she is doing something bad to him? Lucy voice intervened. “Yes, we are going in to check up on him, and we will take no for an answer,” Mr. Tyson roared as the anger consumed him. The doctor stepped aside when he noticed Mr. Tyson's reddened eyes pop up, and he stepped aside, providing a way for them. Mr. Tyson barged inside with Lucy beside him. When they reached in, their eyes widened in present surprise as Sarah was buried inside Raymond’s chest in a passionate hug. They were in a state that they didn't even notice Mr. Tyson's presence in the r
“Shut your filthy mouth, and wipe off your pending tears. gold digger. I wasn't the one who made this audio because it's trending in the media, and that's where I downloaded it from,” Lucy poured bitterly at Sarah, and she glared at her, who was staring at her back with disgust. Linda glared at Sarah, who was breathing in harder as fury was written over her face, and she signalled her to calm down. She knew the voice in the audio had been framed by Sarah's enemies because she received a call from Mr. Johnson, who complained to her about Collins's intention with his family. She wanted to review it with the media and have them arrested, but she intended to wait until Raymond woke up and even intended to tell Sarah, but she forgot when she saw her in sorrows. Mr. Tyson's face darkened as he noticed Linda was consoling Sarah, who was sobbing in her arms, and he felt anger clawing at him that why was Linda still at Sarah's side when he just revealed to her that Sarah conspired with the

Her head was bent down on her lap while her heart was pounding hard with fear, and tears were falling down her cheeks like heavy rainfall.Raymond has been in the emergency room for five hours, and she hasn't heard anything from the doctor after the police rushed him to the nearby hospital for treatment. “Ma’am, please, you have to eat something, and you have to be strong because my brother can survive this operation.” Linda's comforting voice broke through Sarah's sobs as she raised her teary eyes to look at her worried face, and she whimpered while her heart was weighing down with pains.“How do you expect me to eat when Raymond is fighting for his life inside without any news about his health? Everything's my fault, because if I hadn't called for him, none of this would have happened to him. I've regretted calling him, and if something happened to him, I won't be able to forgive myself, because Raymond is my worl
Sarah felt a gallop in her heart when she stared at the commander, who carried a devilish smile as if he was about to fire Raymond, and she uttered, while her eyes weighed down with tears.“Please, spare his life and take mine instead. You promised me you wouldn't hurt him; please fulfil your promise and free us, because I can't live without him.Sarah's words pierced through Raymond's heart like a stab. He glared at her worriedly, and intended to untire her, but the commander made him stop with a malicious glare, and he said, making Raymond’s fist clench,“Try to free her, and I will blow your brains out with the bullets without a thought.”The guards around let out a sinister laugh when they noticed Raymond's darkened face. The commander shifted his gaze towards Sarah, who was sobbing beside Raymond, and he mockingly said, “We aren't here for you, bitch, so I can't fulfil your promise, but if you can't live without his presence, then I suggest you hang out with me, and continue fr
“Boss, the money is inside the car. What's the next move?” Mike asked, staring at Raymond with a worried expression. Raymond silently took the keys from the driver's hand and entered the car.Raymond lowered the louvers, glared at Mike worriedly, and said, his voice sounding hurt due to Sarah's absence,“I've already contacted the police, but I don't want them to come after me since the kidnappers want me to be there alone. I will text you when I reach there, but make sure you lead the police so they can gather at every corner of the kidnappers' address I will send you.”“Are you sure about that, Boss? What if they end up hurting you?” Mike portrayed, glaring at Raymond with concern evident in his eyes.“Don't worry, I will come back safe with Sarah. Make sure you do as I've instructed you,” Raymond clarified, which made Mike nod with an encouraging expression. Raymond started the engine, pulling away from their sight. When he got to the main road, he stepped on it, driving recklessly
Sarah shook his head in disagreement, which made the guards around laugh ecstasies, glaring at her. Tears drenched in Sarah's eyes. She glared at the commander, and pleaded while tears were cascading down her cheeks like heavy rainfall. “Please promise me you won't hurt him when he comes.”“I give you my word." The commander assured, and he placed a phone in Sarah's ear as the call was going through. ******Mirk rampaged into the conference room where the board were having a meeting, his heart hamming against his chest. When he entered, the board members glared at him worriedly as he was sweating under the air conditioning, and they wondered what kind of message he carried that was making him sweat like that.Raymond glared at him worriedly, and he asked, “What kind of insolent behaviour is hat?" What's the problem?, and why didn't you let us finish this meeting? "Sorry, sir, but it's an emergency and is about Sarah," Mirk uttered.Raymond felt his heart hit his chest when he hea
“Open your filthy eyes, Sarah!” one guard shouted as he poured cold water from a plastic bottle on Sarah’s face, which made her gasp for air as the coldness consumed her. Sarah slowly opened her eyes, but her vision was blurred, and she felt severe headache pain due to the substance she inhaled. Sarah's sight became clear; she tried to rise to her feet, but her heart pounded with fear when she discovered her hands had been tied to her back on a chair the same as her legs. She struggled to unchain herself by rubbing her hands hard, but the chain was tighter around her hands, which cut her deeper due to the continued rubbing. She stopped when she felt excessive pain with blood oozing from his hand. Her gaze paced around, and she saw the quads in a facemask in an uncompleted building, while another guard in a mask was standing in her face with a devilish grin on his lips.“Stop acting childish, because you can't break out of the chains." The guard hissed with no emotion, which made h
