Chapter 9 - Date & Breakup

The dinner with Roy was going well. Loretta was having the best time she never believed she never believed she would be having a dinner date with a guy in a cave house not that she couldn't afford any classy restaurants it is just she hasn’t had a cave house in mind even if she did, she wasn't sure she would want to go there on her own.

"Hey Roy…" she called.

"How did you know was going to miss lunch this afternoon I mean that was a bit creepy because I'm pretty sure I told you nothing about how I've been missing lunch lately.”

Roy smiled and said, "You didn't have to tell me I figured you worked a lot and I decided to save you the stress I mean I forget to have lunch sometimes so I know what it feels like."

"Hmm, I see…"

"Yeah…"

I wonder if that's the same thing Ken had in mind, she thought to herself while sipping from her glass.

"Well, that was sweet of you thank you," she said "I love that you had me in mind.”

"Sure, it is no big deal anything for your happiness I always have you in mind," Roy smiled at her.

The hours went by and they were ready to get going Loretta was going to miss the amazing view she thought of telling Roy to bring her back here again but she decided against that Roy would possibly give her another surprise because he's full of them.

The drive home wasn't long but it was silent they just savored the beautiful cool night breeze and the soothing track playing it was a lovely night indeed.

They finally got to her apartment but they just sat in the car silent for a while till Loretta decided to break the silence.

"Hey thank you for tonight it was lovely," she said turning to him.

"Umm yeah sure" he had no words he just stared at her.

Loretta noticed it was getting a bit awkward so she asks, "Roy? Is everything ok, you seem lost."

"Er, yeah sure I'm fine it is just...”

"Just what?" she pressed on.

"You’re really beautiful Loretta and I don't think I'm ever going to stop noticing and saying it."

"Oh Roy," she said "can you be any less sweet this night thanks to you.

A little silence again till Loretta starts laughing.

"Sorry, it is just We've been sitting here for minutes now I think I better get inside it's late and you're new to go home."

"Yes, I forgot that we were still in the car," Roy replies and starts laughing too.

"Silly you can't tell me that you forgot you were in the car I mean your hands have been on that steering wheel since we stopped."

"Ok yeah, I guess you got me."

"Goodnight, Roy," Loretta opens the door to leave but Roy calls her back.

"Wait Loretta aren't you going to... Um sorry never mind."

"No say it what is it."

"No, it's nothing have a goodnight too beautiful."

Finally, she was home she closed the door behind her and leaned on it, and thought to herself this was the weirdest date night, she'd probably be getting more of that. She wondered what Roy wanted to tell her when he called her back... if only Roy knew...

After getting ready for bed, she sat on her bed thinking of how serious and said Roy's face as it held some kind of expression like why doesn't she want me, why doesn't she see what I have for her she felt for the guy I mean he seems already and sure like he's made up his mind but just waiting for her to give some kind of approval or signal but that isn't how Loretta Wayne wanted it.

In every single guy in this world, there is an ice and all you have to do is to find it and know if it is worth it or if you can handle it and she just hasn't found it yet in either of the two guys Kendrick and Roy no one could be that or act too good to her. Plus, she feels like she's been put in a spot now where she wouldn't want to hurt either of the guys but that shouldn't be the way things should turn out that is a really bad turn out and come to think of it Kendrick did say the same thing to her on their last date a bit weird if anyone asked her.

Anyways enough detective work I have to be in bed sleeping and not I will be thinking. She thought to herself.

She got under the covers and slept off.

The next day, morning her annoying alarm hadn't gone off so she wondered what buzzing noise had just woken her up. She sluggishly got up and saw it was her phone making all the buzzing noises but at least it is not as annoying as her alarm she felt that people at the clock store should warn customers how annoying their alarm clocks are before they go buying it.

By then again if it isn't annoying them how are you supposed to wake up. Plus, the store she bought hers had a strict No Return Policy so she was stuck with it till it developed some kind of problem that she was never going to bother repairing. She could always get a new one and abandon this one but she's already had some kind of liking to it.

Weird how a human being can like an appliance that makes the worst noise ever.

She looked at the name of the caller. "Lauren? C'mon Lauren should know when I'm awake few minutes till the alarm goes off should be enough sleep for me maybe it's important.

She tried picking it but accidentally pressed the decline button.

"Damn, your sleepy eyes," she cursed under her breath.

"I guess if it is so important, she'll call right back.”

She hardly completed her statement and the buzzing was back she made sure she blinked three times to clear her sleepy eyes before she answered.

"Hey, babe you know this isn't the time I wake up what gives."

Sniffing sounds come from the other end of the call and Loretta gets a bit worried now.

“Lauren are you, ok sweetie, what's wrong, you can tell me you know."

"M-Matt,” Lauren stutters.

"What happened to Matt sweetie tell me. Is he ok? Did get me some kind of accident?

"No matter what, we’re taking a break."

"Oh no, honey, what happened?"

"I don’t know Loretta he just has serious trust issues. Loretta, he doesn't trust me. Loretta, I told him I wasn't cheating on him... I'm not cheating Loretta," she cried heavily through the phone.

"Lauren, sweetie, Lauren," Loretta tried getting her out of what she was trying to get into at that moment. "You can't possibly be doing this Lauren please calm down let's reason this an…”

"No Loretta, you don't get it four years Loretta, four freaking years and he just brings that up. That's not fair that's cruelty, Loretta. Loretta, you know I would never cheat, never would I cheat on Matt Loretta, I love him we're supposed to be in that spot where we start planning a forever life with each other maybe not exactly forever but at least something that we're sure of yet he still doesn't trust me.

"Loretta, I love him I would never do anything to hurt him but he's hurt me seriously right now."

"Lauren you're going to make me cry please stop please I know Lauren; I know you love him so much but there has to be a perfectly logical good explanation for why he did this to you and if I don't find that Lauren, I swear girl I'll kill him... I'll kill him for you."

"Loretta, why doesn't he trust me? I trust him very much Loretta I would do anything for him but he clearly stated that I was cheating. Loretta this only means he's the one cheating he's probably trying to dismiss me end everything we've built for four years and go after some chick; some nasty chick I mean he's got the money to do that I wouldn't be surprised."

"Hey, Lauren this isn't you telling you just said you trust him why would think he'd be after some chick."

"Because there's a lot of cool chicks out there with rich dads that probably I don't meet up to their standards so maybe he feels her I'm also not up to his standards and he realizes it after four years Loretta four years."

She cries loudly you could almost hear her tears dropping.

"Loretta, I know you're upset but don't call the things you’re not sure of baby don't say those things they don't sound right."

"What am I supposed to do, Loretta? What do I do? I'm a mess right now, I can't even go to work."

"Oh, goodness… work," Loretta remembers she's supposed to be at work.

"Can you call in sick please Loretta, I need you the most right please?"

"Ok, here's what we'll do Lauren yes I'll call in sick maybe for two days if that's possible I'll come over right away book a flight or something now... you need me and I'll be there for you, ok?"

"Thank you, thank you so much…"

"Anything baby anything cleans yourself up sweetie I'm going to talk to Matt personally. You're a handful baby but he'll never find another like you…”
