Chapter Six

Five Years Later

Samantha’s lips curved into a sweet smile as she stepped into her baby’s room. The gentle sunlight streaming through the window bathed the room in a warm, golden glow, casting soft shadows on the pastel-colored walls adorned with whimsical animal decals. Her smile grew even bigger when she saw that her little angel was still sleeping soundly, her small chest rising and falling rhythmically under the soft, pink quilt patterned with tiny stars and moons.

She gently shut the door behind her, the click barely audible, and made her way over to the bed, where her bundle of joy lay nestled among plush toys. The air was filled with the faint scent of lavender, a soothing aroma that always calmed her nerves.

She sat on the edge of the bed, the mattress dipping slightly under her weight, and gazed at her daughter's peaceful face. The soft morning light highlighted her delicate features, making her look even more angelic.
