Nadia swallowed hard. “I’m here now.”

He turned to her again, his dark eyes locking onto hers. “Yes,” he said, his voice laced with something unfamiliar. “You are.”

A beat of silence passed between them before Theodore shifted, resting his arms on his knees as he looked at the skyline ahead. “I didn’t care about the investors leaving. I didn’t care about the company losing billions.”

Nadia watched him, unsure of where he was going with this. His voice was calm, but there was a weight behind his words, something heavy and unspoken.

“The only thing I cared about,” he continued, his tone quieter now, “was whether or not you were going to wake up.”

Nadia’s breath caught in her throat.

She had seen the exhaustion on his face, heard the things Miranda had said, but hearing it from him—hearing the raw honesty in his voice—made her chest tighten.

“I—” she started, but he cut her off with a low, humorless chuckle.

“I fired doctors, Nadia.” He turned to her again, his expression unreadable. “On

Three Days LaterNadia sat on the edge of the hospital bed, absently tracing patterns on the blanket draped over her legs. The sterile white walls of the room that had been her sanctuary for the past week now felt suffocating. Today was the day she was finally being discharged. The doctor had already given the go-ahead yesterday, confirming that she was recovering well. She only needed to continue resting at home.Everything was in place—her belongings packed, Miranda had arranged for transportation, and all her hospital bills were cleared.Cleared in advance.By Theodore.Nadia exhaled, pressing her lips together. She had only just found out that the hospital she had been staying in all this time was owned by Theodore himself. It explained why he had been able to fire multiple doctors without hesitation, why there had been a constant flow of staff attending to her needs. He had made sure she had the best medical care available.

Marcus stood in front of Theodore’s desk, his expression neutral as he delivered the update. “Mr. Thatcher, Miss Nadia has been discharged from the hospital. She’s now at the house with Miranda.”Theodore remained seated in his chair, his fingers steepled under his chin, unreadable as ever. “How is she?”“She’s doing great, according to the doctors. There are no complications, and she just needs to continue resting.”A slow exhale escaped Theodore’s lips. It was nearly imperceptible, but Marcus noticed it—the slight tension leaving his shoulders, the barely-there sign of relief.“Ensure that the security around the house is reinforced,” Theodore said, his tone sharp and businesslike, as if he wasn’t affected at all. “And make it clear that Drake is not to come anywhere near her.”Marcus gave a slight nod, already anticipating the order. “Understood, sir. I’ll handle it.”Theodore didn’t respond, simply turning his chair to face t

The scent of warm toast and scrambled eggs filled the kitchen as Nadia carefully sliced fresh fruits for Chris’s breakfast. A plate of whole wheat toast, boiled eggs, and a smoothie rich in vitamins sat neatly on the counter. Chris had been doing better—healthier, stronger—and she wasn’t about to take that for granted. “Do I really have to eat all of this?” Chris groaned, poking at the neatly arranged meal in front of him. Nadia chuckled. “Yes, you do. If you want to stay strong, you need to eat healthy.” Chris made a face but didn’t argue. She ruffled his hair before returning to the stove, flipping the last pancake with ease. In two days, she would be visiting a cancer treatment center, one of the organizations chosen to receive millions in funding from her project. The thought warmed her. It was one of the few things that made this arrangement with Theodore worth it. She had been planning this visit for we

“Theodore and I had a lot to talk about. Our past, mostly.”Sheena’s sultry voice played on the television, her perfectly lined red lips forming a knowing smile.“Are you two getting back together?” a reporter eagerly asked, thrusting a microphone toward her.Sheena didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she let out a soft, almost teasing laugh before tilting her head slightly, her eyes shimmering with amusement.“Well, we’ll see, won’t we?”The screen cut back to the anchor, who wore a look of intrigue.“Speculation is growing after Hollywood star Sheena Valerio was seen entering Thatcher Enterprises late last night. Could this mean a rekindled romance between her and Theodore Thatcher? If so, what does this mean for the rumors surrounding Theodore’s upcoming wedding? Stay tuned as we uncover more details.”With a sharp flick, the television was turned off.A heavy silence settled in the luxurious Thatcher estate

The night was calm, the air crisp with the scent of chlorine and the faint aroma of jasmine from the nearby garden. The sky stretched endlessly above, a deep navy canvas sprinkled with stars. The soft ripple of water echoed in the stillness of the estate as Nadia stepped outside, her bare feet making almost no sound against the cool stone tiles. She had been in her room, preparing for bed when Miranda had knocked on her door."Mr. Theodore wants to see you by the pool."Nadia frowned but didn’t argue. She slipped into a light cardigan over her casual clothes before making her way outside. As she turned the corner, she saw him. Theodore was sitting at the edge of the pool, his legs stretched out, a glass of deep red wine in his hand. The soft glow of the pool lights reflected on his sharp features, making him look almost otherworldly. His expression was unreadable, his gaze locked on the liquid swirling in his glass as if lost in thought.Nadia hes

Nadia stepped out of the car, the afternoon sun casting a soft glow over the charity center. Dressed in a simple pair of jeans and a white T-shirt provided by the foundation—printed with a colorful design supporting children with cancer—she looked nothing like the fiancée of a billionaire. There were no expensive dresses, no designer heels, no jewelry that screamed luxury. Just her, in comfortable sneakers, ready to step into a place that once held so much of her past. And that was exactly how she wanted it.She adjusted the hem of her shirt, her fingers brushing over the fabric as she took a steadying breath. The moment she entered the building, a group of nurses greeted her with warm smiles.“Miss Nadia, welcome back,” one of the senior nurses said, her voice filled with genuine gratitude.Nadia smiled in return. “I’m happy to be here.”“We’ve been so excited to show you all the improvements we’ve made thanks to the donation from Thatch

Nadia held Theodore’s gaze, searching for an answer in his unreadable expression. He didn’t look uncomfortable, exactly, but there was something about the way he stood there—silent, unmoving—that made her realize the truth. He doesn’t know how to interact with kids.It made sense. Theodore Thatcher wasn’t the type to deal with small, fragile things. He was used to commanding boardrooms, negotiating million-dollar deals, and being the cold, untouchable figure of Thatcher Enterprises. But here, in front of a room full of bright-eyed children, he looked… out of place. The nurse beside him, oblivious to the tension, still held an eager smile. “Mr. Theodore, would you like to say something to the kids?”Theodore didn’t respond immediately. His sharp gaze flickered briefly toward the children, who were watching him with curiosity. Some whispered among themselves, and Nadia could tell that, despite not knowing who he was, they could sense he was

The warm afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the charity center as the day slowly came to an end. It was already three in the afternoon, and it was time to leave. The children, who had been full of laughter and energy throughout the day, now had tears welling in their eyes."Nadia, please come back soon!" one of the younger girls cried, clutching onto her hand."I will," Nadia promised, kneeling to hug the girl tightly. "Be strong for me, okay?"The little girl sniffled and nodded.Others gathered around, waving, their faces a mixture of smiles and sadness. “Thank you for today!”“Come visit us again, Miss Nadia!”“You too, Mr. Theodore!”Theodore stood slightly off to the side, watching the scene unfold. He wasn’t used to emotional goodbyes. He didn’t even know how to react to them. The way the children clung to Nadia, the way they looked at her with so much admiration—it was unfamiliar territory for him.

Silence hung in the air as Sheena struggled to respond. The confidence she had displayed at the beginning of the meeting had withered under Nadia’s sharp analysis, and everyone in the room could see it. Her fingers tightened around the edges of the document she held, flipping through the pages with increasing urgency. The rustling of paper was the only sound in the otherwise still room, a stark contrast to the eloquence she had shown just moments ago.Her throat bobbed as she swallowed hard. Her eyes darted across the printed text, searching—desperate—for an answer that simply wasn’t there.Leonora, sensing the shift in power, intervened smoothly, her voice cutting through the thick air with practiced ease.“Nadia, while I appreciate your scrutiny, I believe you may be overlooking the broader vision here.” She leaned back, exuding an aura of calm authority. “The Valerio Group has years of experience in large-scale developments. Nadia was seated on the couch in her temporary office when Miranda entered, her expression urgent yet composed. The older woman held a garment bag in her hands, the rich fabric inside barely visible through the opening.“We need to hurry,” Miranda announced, placing the garment bag on the desk and unzipping it. “Sheena Valerio will be presenting a business proposal at the board meeting tonight at seven. Leonora personally invited her, which means this is more than just a simple presentation. Theodore wants you there.”Nadia blinked. “Sheena Valerio?” Miranda nodded, carefully pulling out the dress. “I am sure you already know her. But, to give you a little background she's a daughter of the Valerio family—their business empire is one of the few that can stand on equal footing with the Thatchers. She’s smart, well-connected, and ambitious.”Nadia frowned, running her fingers through her hair. “And why does Theodore want me there?”Miranda

His gaze was fixed on the woman beside him.Nadia.Her head was nestled against his arm, her dark lashes resting against her cheeks, her breathing slow and steady. Strands of her dark hair had fallen over her face, and he resisted the sudden urge to brush them away.Even in sleep, she was breathtaking. He let out a slow exhale, his mind clouded with thoughts. He had been drunk last night, yes. The room was dimly lit by the faint glow of the city lights filtering through the curtains. The only sound was the rhythmic ticking of the clock and the slow, steady breathing of the man sleeping on the couch.Nadia sat up in bed, the sheets pooling around her waist as she glanced toward Theodore. His features, usually so tense and unreadable, were now relaxed in sleep. The sharp angles of his face were softened in the quiet, his dark lashes casting faint shadows over his cheekbones. He looked almost… peaceful. Vulnerable.A strange warmth spread in her chest as she watched him. She wasn’t sure why she got up—maybe it was the pull of something unspoken, something she wasn’t ready to name. Barefoot, she padded across the wooden floor, stopping just beside the couch. Her gaze drifted to his lips. The memories came unbidden. As the evening's festivities drew to a close, the once lively ambiance of the party gave way to a quieter, more subdued atmosphere. Nadia and Theodore made their way to the parking lot, the cool night air offering a refreshing contrast to the warmth inside. The sleek black car awaited them, its polished surface reflecting the ambient lights.Theodore approached the driver's side, his movements deliberate yet slightly unsteady. Nadia observed him closely, concern etching her features."Are you sure you're okay to drive?" she inquired, her voice tinged with worry. He paused, one hand resting on the car's roof, the other fumbling briefly with the keys. His gaze met hers, eyes sharp yet clouded."I'm fine," he replied curtly, opening the door and sliding into the driver's seat.Nadia hesitated for a moment before settling into the passenger seat, fastening her seatbelt with a soft click. The golden light from the chandeliers bathed her features in a soft glow, making her look even more striking than he remembered. She was wary—he could tell by the slight tension in her shoulders, the way her eyes flickered toward the crowd as if seeking an escape. He couldn’t let her run.Not yet.Drake sighed, letting his gaze drop momentarily before meeting hers again. The scent of rich, gourmet dishes filled the air, yet Theodore Thatcher had not taken a single bite.He sat beside Nadia, his fingers lazily swirling the wine in his glass, his sharp gaze unreadable. Unlike the others, who were indulging in the luxurious meal, he seemed content with nothing but his drink.Just as Nadia picked up her fork, she heard a familiar voice.“Glad you could make it, Nadia.”She turned to see Drake approaching with his signature easygoing smile. His presence alone attracted attention—Drake Thatcher was not only Theodore’s cousin but a well-known figure in the industry.Nadia returned the smile. “Happy birthday, Drake.”Drake chuckled. “Thanks.
