Damien got up immediately, carrying his car keys. He left the house. Maggie tried to stop him, but he just pushed her away.

Maggie frowned as she marched into Aella's bedroom, hitting the door furiously.

“Go away, mother!” Aella yelled from inside the room.

“Open this door this instant and tell me where exactly you are coming from,” Maggie demanded.

Aella paid no attention to her; she covered herself under the duvet, blocking the noise with headphones, and soon she fell asleep.

Maggie stood by the door for a while, and when she saw that Aella was not responding, she stomped off to her room. She sat down on her bed, but she was restless. She needed to take advantage of this opportunity, but she had no plans yet.

Maggie pranced around the room for a while, thinking of something mischievous to do, when a bright idea popped into her mind. She smiled as she walked out of her room to the kitchen.

The plan was to cook for Damien and take it to his office so that she could get the opportunit

Maggie stayed behind for a while in Damien's office. Damien had to force himself to work, so it would not be so obvious that he was affected. When he noticed that Maggie had no plans on going, he decided to eat the food despite having no appetite.“Do you like the food, Damien? I know it's your favorite, and I made it exactly the way you like it," Maggie asked after Damien was done with his food.“It is nice, Maggie. Thank you once again. You should go home now. You have spent a lot of time here already," Damien replied.“Oh Damien, I spend all my time at home all day; I don't have anything to do; I will just stay with you until work is over," Maggie insisted.“You don't have to, Maggie; I have a lot of work and I won't leave early; you don't have to wait for me," Damien countered, hoping Maggie would just take the hint and leave.“I will be here, Damien. You wouldn't even notice my presence," Maggie replied as she lay on the couch. The more she stayed in Damien's office, the mor

“What are you trying to say?” Maggie asked, feigning ignorance.“I know everything, mother. Don't play dumb with me. You cooked for Damien using my recipe book, took it to his office, and did not come back until now, so I am quite interested. Are you now an employee?” Aella asked back.“It's not my fault you have issues in your relationship, Aella; I only did what was right,” Maggie defended.“My bad, and the right thing you could think of was taking food to my husband?” Aella asked again, in disbelief.“You locked yourself in a room doing only what God knows, and I took food to my son-in-law. What's the problem with that?” Maggie fired back, raising her voice, hoping Damien would hear her.“I locked myself up in a room, and my own mother seems more concerned about her so-called son-in-law than her daughter. Where is that done? You did not even bother to find out if I was okay or if I needed something," Aella retorted. She couldn't believe Maggie's audacity.“I have nothing to say to

“Didn't you hear Maggie? What are you doing with my phone?” Damien asked again.“Damien… Please don't tell Aella." Maggie said it in a whisper as she pulled Damien closer to her.“What is it, Maggie?” Damien asked, furrowing his eyebrows.“I opened a dating account recently, and I have to upload a profile picture, but my camera is bad, so I decided to use yours," Maggie lied smoothly.Damien collected the phone from Maggie, and as he opened the gallery, there were a few snapshots of Maggie.Maggie chuckled inwardly; she had already thought of a backup plan just in case Aella or Damien saw her on the phone. She took the pictures before answering Aella's grandmother's call.“Maggie, a phone is a personal asset. You can't take it without the owner's consent," Damien stated.“I am really sorry. I could not say to my son-in-law that I wanted his phone for dating site pictures.” Maggie apologized again.“It's right,” Damien said. He turned around and left."Wait, Damien, don't you want d

At every opportunity Maggie got, she fed Damien with rubbish about Aella, condemning her own daughter in his presence. She had told Aella to stay away from Damien for a while, and she was taking advantage of it.She told Damien that the reason Aella was not trying to make amends anymore was because she was done with the marriage and was considering divorce.Damien could not believe it at first, but Maggie was cunning. She was like a slow poison spreading in Damien's heart, fueling his anger for Aella.Damien started giving into her claims, and his anger for Aella grew every day. The more she never tried to talk to him or resolve their fight, the more it irritated him.So when Aella approached him, he was surprised and then thought she had finally come to the conclusion of divorcing him.“Why are you bringing up divorce? I do not understand you, Damien.” Aella asked, confused. All she wanted to resolve was her husband's and his attention.“You want to divorce me so you can get more mon

“Save it, mother; I do not want to hear it,” Aella said, and with that, she left the kitchen.Maggie smiled to herself as she rounded up the cooking.Aella stomped into the room angrily; she could not believe what she had just heard. “Was it possible that Damien wanted to divorce her?” Aella thought to herself.Aella decided to shower to get her mind off everything; she remained in the bathtub until the water turned cold. She got out of the bathtub while draping on a robe, and her phone buzzed; it was a text message from Jeremy.“Aella, I will be leaving the city tomorrow at noon, and I want to meet you tonight. Please give me a chance to see you again just this once.” She read the message out loud.Aella sighed as she sent back a request declining his offer; if she was going to meet with him, it would only cause more trouble between her and Damien. She changed into a comfortable set of clothes while packing up. In a bun, carrying her phone. She decided to go back to the living room f

Aella was having a good time with Jeremy; they talked about a lot of things, and it was fun. Her plan to actually get her mind over Damien and the issues on the ground was perfectly executed.Aella got carried away as she kept downing every glass Jeremy poured out for her. They had just finished having dinner when Aella checked the time. "Oh no," Aella muttered to herself."Did something happen, Aella?" Jeremy asked as Aella stared at her phone intently."I need to go home now, Jeremy. I promised Damien to be back in two hours," Aella answered as she picked up her bag.She tried to stand, but then she was tipsy. She checked the nearly empty bottle of wine; it was alcoholic.Jeremy smirked inwardly as he saw this; everything was finally going the way he wanted it.Aella struggled to stand, holding that table as a support. Jeremy stood up from his end and walked towards her. "Listen, Aella, you can't go anywhere in this condition.""No, I can manage Jeremy; it's so good to see you. Do m

Maggie was still sitting in the kitchen when a thought crossed her mind. She smiled mischievously to herself as she walked to her room. This was a perfect opportunity to strike, and she wasn't going to waste it. Aella wasn't home, and Damien was alone. It was perfect.Maggie scanned through her closet for the sexiest lingerie she had gotten when she went shopping with Aella. She smiled as she dropped it on the bed.Walking into the bathroom, Maggie poured scented flowers into the bathtub, and she lit up some scented candles. The whole room was filled with the sweet scent of roses and strawberries.Maggie finished with her shower as she dressed in lingerie; it was a two-piece that barely covered her body properly. She then draped a silky robe as she sprayed some perfume all over her body.Maggie admired herself in the mirror as she let down her hair, brushing it with her fingers. She blew a kiss out for herself as she left the room, closing the door softly.Maggie walked to Damien's ro

"Aella, what happened last night was a mistake; honestly, I was drunk, and I said things I wasn't supposed to say," Jeremy pleaded."Did you know it was going to snow heavily last night?" Aella asked, and overnight she thought about it. Jeremy's behavior was quite strange, and he kept on pouring out wine for her, urging her to drink more. The look on his face was disappointing, he knew."Aella Look, I just wanted to see you one more time; I needed to tell you about my feelings," Jeremy confessed."What feelings, Jeremy? What are you even saying? Can you hear yourself? I told you I was married for Christ's sake, and what feelings could you even have for me?" Aella asked one after the other, anger building in her insides."Aella, I love you; I have loved you ever since. The main reason I got back was to be with you, but when you told me you were married, I couldn't approach you, and now that I am leaving, I thought I should confess just one last time, Aella. Aella was swept off her feet more than she could have imagined, but not by someone she had thought. She decided she was not going to think about Damien or anything that has to do with him, or literally anything that is tied to his being. She didn't want to think about it. as much as she knew this was the happiest she had ever been since they got married. The least she could do for herself now was to stop ruminating about the past, not when she was starting to come back to being herself. This was the gift to herself, and this was more like the best gift ever. She will stop thinking about him and focus more on understanding herself; she was planning to get a divorce sooner than later. She wanted to be totally free so she could start living again. She's sat in the car; it's a new hair and a her new self. As they rode across the city, she looked back at Blythe, who seemed to be very happy and seemed to be thinking of something that made him smile every second. She looked away from his fac

Just the right amount of sauce to make him look like God's sent. She stared at Blythe, who just unconsciously did the cutest things. There were times he talked to himself, there were times he just glared out the window, or there were times where he just picked up the salon magazine and read it, and his expressions whenever he came across something controversial made him the perfect partner to give your work the gist.Blythe had taken the initiative to get Aella a snack after every hour at the salon he got her milkshakes and takeouts.“Here's some for you!” Blythe voiced handing over the takeout box to her.By this time she had just started to make her hair; she had first gotten into washing it and then styling it.“Thank you!” She smiled, and he walked back to his seat.“That's an intentional mannn!" The hairstylist teased her as Blythe fully walked away.Aella didn't know what to think, nor did she know what to say to the hairstylist.“He's just my friend!” Aella responded with a smi

He paced back and forth as he struggled to keep to himself for the past three weeks—nothing from her—nothing to keep his feelings in check, not even her green light. It was every risky to go visit her in her workplace, as he appeared to be a potential threat to Damien, especially when Damien was the reason for this whole mess in the first place. He picked up his phone for the billionth time trying to place a call to her and explained things well enough to her. But he couldn't; he couldn't bring himself to explain the truth of the whole matter to her; that would not only end him; it would also end their whole family name and career. The way they had left things off, they knew Marie would probably see him as a bad person or worse, a monster that didn't deserve to live.Seth had always wished he wasn't born into the family he was born into, and quite true, he didn't like it there, but ever since he met Marie, he had wished more for that prayer to come to pass than ever before. He felt c

"Well, I must say you look absolutely beautiful." Blythe complimented Aella as he opened the car door for her.Aella had never had alone time with Blythe before; spending the whole day with him felt so illegal, but she knew she had to leave her room at least once so she wouldn't rot away in misery. She had thought about it all so much that she didn't want to think about it anymore; she just wanted to start living life again. The life she had thought she could live with Damien, but it turns out that she couldn't.It's funny how the same life she craved for was the same life God had helped her package with her mom; she could live freely and not depend on anyone. For the first time, she smiled, and that smile was genuine.“And I must say you don't look bad yourself!”. Aella responded with a soft voice.Seeing her smile is his delight, and he wanted more of it to happen. He kicked the car to a start, and they started their little journey.Aella wasn't used to engaging in conversations wit

Yes, maybe there were people out there who hurt you real bad, but you need to understand that they shouldn't make you stop loving; you just choose to love yourself enough to love them and not overlove them, so you know when to leave or when to live by grace, just like you would give yourself a voice when necessary.Aella had left Vollini and Becca in the living room to discuss while she just went to her roomma. DN just wallowed. She cuddled up in her bed and just stared out the window. She watched as the snow fell lightly; she could think of nothing else than just...Her baby…Damien was no longer on her mind; she couldn't really care less; he had done what he had to do, and he had done his worst already. If he cheated, it really wasn't any of her business; the only thing she blamed herself for was staying that long trying to take her power back. She sighed again, giving the fact that she had so many things planned out for herself and her baby. She looked down at her phone and realize

Chapter 139“Just when you thought you had it all, there another shows up to be the worst."Collins paced back and forth in the living room of Becca's house as he wanted to tell Becca about how unruly Damien had been to his sister. Aella wasn't in the midst of all these; they had allowed her to be alone for a while in her room, which they made sure to check on her on a few occasions.“Does he ever think at all, like why is he being the animal that he delivered me from, why is he being like that forsaken dude called Seth?" Collins raged again.Truthfully, he hadn't known his sister's case until they got home from the hospital, and immediately he heard it took the strength in Becca to keep him grounded and not go to confront Damien.Collins had just arrived at the right time.Becca was instantly notified of how inseparable Collins and Aella are; she saw how much love they both have for each other, and she is more than willing to love them both. But she wondered who this sort of guy Coll

Not all that glittered seems to be gold... But for Damien, his vomit seems to glitter like gold and looks like the most beautiful diamonds from the outside. As he dropped Aella in the hospital, he turned back and went back to work. He didn't bother to ask what happened to her or what might happen to her; he asked then if she was going to be fine, and they said definitely the rest if it was none of his business, but unfortunately enough, they told him as much as he didn't want to hear about everything the doctor called him as he got to the office. The doctor's call came through as he was about to enter his office. On getting into the office, he noticed that Amelia was no longer in the office, including her bag and all.
