Aurora jumped up from her chair, and the countdown that had stopped suddenly started again, even faster than before. In the blink of an eye, it reached 15 seconds. The beeping sounded like a death sentence. Heath quickly sat back down, and the countdown returned to normal, ticking away second by second.

"It's a cluster bomb," he explained. "I cut the main fuse, but it triggered the submunitions. If we leave the chair now, at this countdown speed, it'll explode in about seven or eight seconds. I can't disarm it."

Aurora stared at Heath sitting in the chair. He looked as dashing as when they first met, even covered in blood and dust. His brilliance couldn't be dimmed.

Heath looked at Aurora and said, "Rory, I'll count to three, and then we'll run together. Can you make it for about fifteen seconds?"

Aurora clutched her wounded leg and nodded. "Yes, I can do it!"

"Babe, everything will be fine," Heath reassured her. "One, two, three, run!"
