Chapter 65

Avery walked into his office the next day after their return to Cally city. He ignored the pitiable looks his employees threw his way and even some of their heartfelt apologies. It has been twelve days since his mother’s passing and this was the first time that he was allowing himself to be seen by people other than his family.

Jacob waited by the elevator in his office floor and he gave a nod of acknowledgement to him, leading the way to the office.

“I would appreciate it if they stopped looking at me like I just lost my wife.” Avery said to Jacob as the latter opened the door to the office.

“Well, you did lose someone and it might not have been your wife, but it was quite a significant person in your life.” He replied.

Charlotte stood with a bowed head when he entered the office but he ignored her. As they were about to enter the main office, he had a second thought and came back to where she stood.
