Chapter 30

“You had one job, Zoe. Only one job and that was to keep him away from alcohol but of course you had other things in mind.” Felicity screamed at Zoe as she paced the sitting room.

They had wasted no time in coming when Zoe had called and seeing the worried looks on their faces, she couldn’t help but feel guilty for giving Avery alcohol. Thinking about it now, it was probably a very stupid thing to do.

“What did he say before he left?” Mia asked her with a ridiculously calm voice. “Did he say anything?”

'Ask Avery the real reason he married you.' That was his last statement to her but they really had no business knowing that. That was a talk for Avery and herself.

“He didn’t say anything.” She responded.

“Did he try to hurt you?” Mia asked again, worry all over her voice. Zoe was quite surprised that she was acting more matured than the adults. From their first meeting, she never would have thought Mia to be nice to her.

“No.” Zoe replied to her question. “He didn’t hurt me.”

“If he tr
