Madison knocked on Kyle’s bedroom door. She knew midnight was no time to talk to someone, but she also knew no one had been sleeping in this house since Alessa left.

Madison knocked slowly but loudly until she heard a clunk on the other side. When the door opened an unshaved Kyle with red eyes opened the door, letting the smell of scotch escape the room.
