Chapter 69

Adrian's POV

Recalling the scene of Daniel winking at Joyce infuriated me a lot. I never knew those two had gotten that close. I had been on the verge of losing my cool for a moment.

The unexpected buzzing of my phone on the desk jolted me from my enraged thoughts. I glanced at the screen— Miguel. He had insisted on taking my mom out on a shopping spree in my place, and I could only pray everything was going smoothly. A sigh escaped my lips as I answered, hoping there wasn’t a problem.

At first, I was annoyed, but I gradually accepted it since he wasn't a stranger, and I could have enough time to focus on my work.

I slid the green button and answered the call.

"Hello, Miguel. How can I help you?" I asked, thinking my mother was giving him trouble with her obsession with buying clothes.

"Adrian, there's a problem," Miguel replied, his voice trembling.

Fear, worry, and panic surged through me, and I leaped from my seat and walked to the large glass window.
