Tristan stared at the lady walking ahead of him. Such audacity she had, no one in his life had ever spoken to him in such a way, she even had the guts to tell him to shut up and then used her smart mouth to belittle him. He had promised to make her miserable, he was going to make her so miserable to the point where she learns to tame her mouth. He walked to the secretary and signed in and she did the same.
“Good morning Mr Perry” his secretary greeted him warmly but he didn’t respond, he was in a terrible mood this morning
“Good morning, my name is Angela” he heard her say to the secretary in that her annoyingly gentle voice and it made him angrier. He turned to her.
“What is this? An introduction? This isn’t your office, so why are you introducing yourself?” He saw a confused look cross her face and he smirked
“But I thought….”
“Well, you thought wrong. Your office is upstairs, just outside my office” he said and began heading to the elevator with her following him. They entered the elevator and he pressed the top button which took them up to his office.
**********
Angela’s POV
The elevator ride was the most awkward elevator ride I’ve ever been in, Tristan was sulking and sometimes, I felt him looking at me but I didn’t dare look back, I was counting the seconds till I have to get the hell out of this elevator and thankfully, the elevator door chimed and it opened, I stepped back a bit so Tristan could come out first but he refused “no, you go. Ladies first” I was surprised as I stepped out, so he can be a gentleman?Tristan’s office was huge and very spacious, the floorings was a 3D ocean view, stepping into his office was like stepping into the ocean, the walls were made of blue tinted glass, the office was always cool because there were two large air conditioners on two corners of the office, there was a large white desk and chair in the middle of the room, which was always neatly arranged, there was a large black three seater sofa which was horizontal to his desk and a loveseat just directly behind his chair. He gestured for me to sit on the chair across his, he placed his phone on his desk and faced me.
“Did you see the desk and chair in the hallway?” He asked
“Yes, I did”
“That’s your office, there’s an intercom, an ipad, a laptop, a pen and a pad on your desk. Check your email, I’ve sent my calendar and my agenda for the month to you, I need you to go over it and get back to me in twenty minutes, I have a meeting in the next thirty five minutes and I need you to be ready before then. Do you understand me?”
“Yes sir” I said and I stood up to leave
“Oh, before you leave, I need my morning coffee. I emailed you the procedure on how to make it.”
“Okay?” I said and left.
____________
“Brew for six minutes? Who does that?” I asked aloud as I read Tristan’s instruction on how to make his coffee. This is crazy but who am I to argue with his majesty.
“Here is your coffee sir” I set the coffee gently on his table and turned to leave. He took one sip of his coffee and spat it out
“What the hell is this?” He asked furiously and I was confused
“It’s your coffee sir”
“My coffee? Oh hell no. This isn’t the coffee I asked you to make!”
“It is sir, I followed every instruction to the letter….”
“No you didn’t!” He roared “how many minutes did you brew this for?”
“Six minutes, but that’s….”
“What? Who brews their coffee for six minutes? Why the fuck would you brew my coffee for six minutes?”
“But that’s what’s written in the email sir, I can show you…” I brought out my phone to show him but he just yelled
“Get the fuck out of my office and make sure my schedule is ready in the next five minutes!” I scurried out of his office and when I had arrived in my office, I went over the email again and there it was ‘brew for six minutes’ it was written boldly. This must be his way of making me miserable, that asshole. I just hope he hasn’t done the same to his calendar, or else that’s his problem and how does he expect me to finish planning his entire month in five minutes. Well, if it’s a challenge he wants, a challenge he’ll get
**********
It took her five minutes exactly to finish planning out his entire month. She went over it again and smiled satisfactory as she emailed it to him.Tristan was in his office getting ready to call her and yell at her for his schedule when the email popped up in his phone. He went through the entire thing in disbelief. Not only had she planned it, she had made a priority list, daily routine, write out the daily forecast predictions, color coded it and even created a reference list for the colors all in five minutes. She knows how to meet a deadline, she was definitely a keeper.
When he made the coffee prank, he had thought it would throw her off balance so he could make her more miserable by yelling at her for not getting her job done but this lady had managed to surprise him. He called her on the intercom, she picked on the second ring
“Angela Cameron speaking” she answered, oh that voice, it was so warm, so calming, so gentle yet so annoying
“Yes, miss Cameron, well done on the schedule, I like it, it’s really organized”
“Thank you sir.”
“So are you ready for the meeting?” He asked and she paused for a while
“Will I be attending the meeting too sir?”
“Of course, meet me downstairs in two minutes” he hung up and called his chauffeur to get the car ready.
When he got downstairs, Angela was already there waiting for him. She keeps surprising me Tristan thought as they got in the car together.
They were barely out of the gate when his phone rang, he rolled his eyes at the caller ID as he answered it. “Hey Ivy….I’m good, what about you….really?…..oh no, no….not today…. I don’t think so….okay let me make it up to you….I’ll ask my assistant if there’s room in my schedule for tomorrow, bye”
He hung up quickly before she had the chance to say anything else, Ivy was so clingy and he didn’t need any clinginess right now, he was going to his father’s office**********
Angela’s POV I really don’t understand why I had to be in this meeting, it’s so boring but what’s really confusing me is why I have to be standing for the whole two hours we’ll be here “That’s part of your job description” Tristan had said in that deep voice of his “standing next to me wherever I am”That sounds like a bodyguard’s job, but he claimed my contract doesn’t permit me to argue or contradict his decision, bastard!
I hated him so much, not just because he’s making me stand but because he knows my secret . How on earth did he get that video, I wondered. I could have sworn I deleted it. Jane was the only other person who knew about that video and when I told her that Tristan had it, she turned white“Where did he get it from?” She asked panicky
“I don’t know!”
“Does he know?”
“I don’t know!”
“Are you going to tell him the truth?”
“I DON’T KNOW!”
“Angela..?”
“Honestly Jane, I can’t. First of all, he’ll never believe me, the video he has has no sound, secondly, I just can’t bring myself to tell him, third, he doesn’t have any right to know, it’s my secret….”
“But is it though? Is it really YOUR secret Angela?” She came closer and held my hands “you have to free yourself from this burden Angela, it’s not your burden, it’s not your secret, you have to let it go”
“I can’t Jane” I said in a chocked voice “I made a promise”
“Bullshit!” Jane exclaimed “that’s bullshit Angela, every time we talk about this, you suddenly bring up your ‘promise’ don’t you see Angie? You’re carrying someone else’s cross, it’s killing you but you’re too stubborn to admit it. Forget your promise, forget….”
“Miss Cameron!” Tristan’s voice suddenly cut in bringing me back to the present
“Yes sir?”
“We’re leaving, did you not hear that?”
“Oh my apologies sir, I must have zoned out a bit” he started to walk out and I followed him “next on your schedule, you have breakfast sir”
“Oh good!” He exclaimed as they got into the limousine. “Alan, take us to crossover restaurant” he said to his chauffeur and turned to me “have you ever been there?”
“No sir”
“I assure you, you’re going to love it”
Angela stared at her plate in horror. She was fighting the urge not to throw up, she had never been in a fancy restaurant before and she didn't even know what kind of food she was being served. It looked strange, mushy and sick. She looked at Tristan who was chowing down on his equally disgusting-looking food while she kept pushing the food around pretending to eat it. Why on earth would Tristan even order for her and what was it he called the food? ‘The special?’ what's so special about this? It looked like somebody vomited onto her plate. She glanced around uncomfortably, it was like everyone can see through her because people were giving her weird looks. It’s like they were judging her with their eyes.Tristan had an amused expression on his face as he stole glances at her squirming uncomfortably.“What's wrong miss Cameron,” he asked with a mocking smile…Angela's POV Oh, I so hated this guy, I wanted to slap that stupid smirk off his stupid face. Who does he think he is?“Nothi
“I swear to you Jane, he really did. It's so confusing, you know. One minute he's cool, the next minute, he's a pain in the ass”Jane stared at his picture again and bit her lower lip “he is very hot though” Angela rolled her eyes “That's really not the point” “Seriously Angie, what if he likes you? Rumor has it that he’s never been in a relationship” Angela burst into laughter “Yeah right. I bet he's so crazy about me, you know, that’s probably why he yells at me and embarrass me at any little chance he gets. By the way, I’m not surprised about him not ever having a relationship, who would date a guy like that? His manners are disgusting”“He took you to his HOUSE! Don’t you get it? This guy never brings anybody to his house except his family, not even his close friends”Angela shrugged “he probably felt bad about what he said and wanted to make up for it”“I bet you, you would end up falling for him. It’ll be like those workplace romance” Jane said as she was already imagining i
The door to Tristan’s office opened and Ivy jumped up, pushed past the people that were coming out and marched straight to Tristan’s table. She slammed her bag on his table and pointed to me furiously. “I want her fired!” she yelled and Tristan raised a brow“Oh?”“Oh? Is that all you have to say, Tristan? This girl here was just rude to me. She insulted me”“Well, that doesn't sound unlikely. I know she's rude but I'm not so sure about the insult part. I did hear you screaming though, do you know you were being way too loud and disturbing my meeting?”Ivy pouted and crossed her arms, her loud voice suddenly becoming gentle “it's her fault. She was just giving me this wild attitude”Tristan turned to me “Miss Cameron, what happened?” I told him everything including the part about her threatening me “I don't know why I should be feeling unsafe at work because of your guests….” I deliberately let my voice break to sound as if I was about to cry and I could have sworn I saw a look of
The meeting ended an hour after midnight and Tristan and Angela were so exhausted. On their way back to the hotel, Tristan asked Angela if she would love to go grab a drink and she agreed. They went to their suite to get changed and Angela was surprised to see that there were some clothes for her on the bed with a note that read ‘hope you like it. Tristan’ She picked up the clothes and inspected them, there was a blue, glittery, strapless short dress with matching pair of boots and a gorgeous black jumpsuit. She wore the blue dress, applied some lipgloss and luckily for her, her hair still looked okay, she patted it and headed out. Tristan was waiting for her at the reception, when he looked up, his eyes sparkled and he gave a warm smile as he looked her over. It was the first time he smiled at her, he usually only smirks and he looked so handsome when he smiles.“Wow, you look stunning.”“Thanks. How did you know what size of clothes to get me?” she asked curiously and he smiled ag
She went downstairs and met Tristan in the lobby, he was on a call, he sounded very pissed and his face was red with anger“I need you to get rid of it NOW! What do you mean you can't do it now…? Do you love your job and do you want to KEEP your job…? Then I suggest you remove it right now! Don't tell me that shit!” Angela's phone began to ring again, she checked and saw it was Jane but just as she was about to answer it, Tristan spoke to her “Don't answer that!” She looked up at him confused “why?”“Trust me, you don't need to answer it” he screamed into his phone again “I don't have ten minutes to spare, I WANT IT DONE NOW!” Angela stared at her phone screen till it stopped ringing. She was about to put the phone back in her purse when it began to buzz consistently, notification after notification kept popping up and she was confused. She was about to unlock her phone to check it when Tristan spoke to her again “Don't check those” Now she was really confused, why would he tel
“Hello? I’m here…” she said and checked her phone again. The text said ‘I have information about what happened last night. Meet me by the docks’ Even though she had a bad feeling about the whole thing, she decided to go anyway. She suddenly heard the clicking of heels behind her and turned. She gasped and growled when she saw who it was “Ivy?” “Yep, it’s me,” Ivy said as she sashayed over to her “surprised to see me?” “After what you did? I’m surprised you still have the guts to show your face to me” Ivy smirked “so you figured out it’s me. You’re smart, but not smart enough”“What do you want?”“To make you suffer”“Why? What did I ever do to you?” Ivy scoffed “so you don’t know?”“Why does everybody keeps saying this? Of course, I don’t know. If I knew, I wouldn’t be asking”“Tristan likes you!”Her eyes widened at the statement and she burst into laughter “no he doesn't”“Yes, he does. Don’t think I don’t know about the way he looks at you, he has never looked at me like no ma
“Welcome to my house again Miss Cameron”“Thank you, sir,” she said with a smile “Eric will show you to your room. Eric?” he signalled for the butler she met the other day. He came to help me with her bags and led her upstairs “This way Miss” Eric said as he led her up the stairs and to the room. She gasped in awe as she stared at the room, it was so enormous with a queen-sized bed with lots of pillows and the softest looking silk bedsheet in the centre of the room, there was a study table with a laptop on it and a chair in a corner, three beautiful lamps, a silver chandelier, silver curtains to cover the two huge windows.“Thank you, Eric”“You’re welcome, miss. Dinner is in two hours”“Okay, I’ll keep that in mind”He left and Angela crashed on the soft bed, the bed sunk with her in it as she closed her eyes while allowing the previous day's event to play in her head.**********“Are you gonna be okay?” Jane asked with a concerned look on her face. She had grown worried for her fr
Tristan sat with her under the gazebo in his garden and they started talking. She wasn't facing him directly, she just wrapped her arms around herself and looked away from him.“So, tell me about yourself miss Cameron”“Don't you already know everything about me?” she answered sarcastically. Tristan chuckled lightly and replied“I'm willing to know more”Angela sighed before responding “I didn't go to college”“I know” “And you already know why I didn't go to college” she said ruefully“What I really wanna know is things you don't tell anyone. Private things”“So you can use it to blackmail me again?” she replied bitterly and in that moment, he regretted his previous actions. He really wanted her to work for him but there were other ways he could have gone about it. He wondered if she'll ever trust him after that “I was desperate” he started as he raked his fingers through his hair “To get revenge?” “No! Not to get revenge…”“That's what you said”He knew he'll have to tell her so

THREE MONTHS LATERShe stared at her reflection in the mirror, and a satisfied smile crept up her lips.Today was the most important day of her life. Her wedding day!She closed her eyes and let her mind drift to the day Tristan proposed to her two months ago.***************It was another cold day, as usual. It was a work day, but instead of going to work, Tristan had insisted they go to the same restaurant they went on her first day of working with him, and that they bring Zoe.She didn't understand why Tristan would choose to go to a restaurant instead of work and what was even more strange was that he insisted that he wanted to drive. He usually lets his driver do the driving, so she found it strange. After making sure that Zoe was seated and buckled in with the seatbelt, she sat in the passengers seat in front and Tristan got behind the wheel. As he adjusted the rear-view mirror, he winked at Zoe, who giggled and bounced happily in the back, the entire ride. All efforts to calm
“I'm telling you, Tristan, it's that bad.”She said to Tristan over Facetime. He had called her by eight pm New Zealand Standard Time and she was telling him how things were with Zoe.She couldn't bring herself to sleep on the mattress, so, after tucking Zoe in and making sure she was asleep, she went to the living room and lay on the couch instead. “And get this, turns out she's been living here using my name.”“Are you serious?” He asked, the shock on his face mirroring hers.“I am. Her neighbour called me Angela, and I found these fake documents and ID's inside the kitchen closet. It all had my name. None of it has her name. It's creepy.”“So, her daughter doesn't know her real name either?”“She doesn't. Apparently, she's been living a lie for seven years. As crazy as it is, it did give me an idea.” She replied with a faraway look in her eyes.“What idea?” Tristan asked with raised eyebrows. She smiled at him as she answered, “You know how she told me not to ever let her daught
The twenty-one-hour flight took it’s toll on her. Even though there had been two stops along the way, she was exhausted and sick by the time she got to New Zealand. She had also bought some things for Zoe as a way to earn her trust.Tristan called to check on her three times, and he sounded better. At least that's an improvement. She stopped a taxi and gave the driver the address Annabelle gave her. It was almost an hour drive from the airport and along the way, she kept wondering what she would tell Zoe. Where would she say her mother was? And how would she explain that she was her aunt? Because she was pretty sure Annabelle never mentioned her to Zoe.She was so lost in thought, she didn't realize they were already at her destination. The driver had to honk the car horn to snap her out of her thoughts.“We're here.” He announced after getting her attention.“Oh. Thank you.” She answered as she paid him. He helped her offload her luggage and then, he drove off.Angela stared at the
Tristan, Taylor and Angela arrived at the hospital to find a panic-stricken, worn out Tessa, pacing around. Her arm was bandaged too.“What happened? Where's mum?” Tristan asked, trying to rush into the emergency ward, but was stopped by Tessa.“Tristan, you can't go in there yet. Please, calm down.”“What exactly happened, Tessa?” Angela asked.“Yeah, how did she get shot.” Taylor added.“She went to confront Amy and we were on our way back when our car was ambushed and some men wearing masks surrounded us. They killed the driver and shot mum in the chest through the windscreen. They shot at me too, but it missed narrowly, and my arm got hit instead. They took off immediately and that's when I called the ambulance.”“How is she? Will she make it?” Tristan asked with wide-eyes. Tessa looked dismayed as she averted her gaze. Tristan was about to say something when Tessa's husband Connor came rushing in.“Honey,” he exclaimed as he rushed towards her. He hugged her, then he examined he
The car came to a halt in front of the Perry's grand mansion. Marie stepped out first, not waiting for the driver to open the door for them. Her eyes was red and her complexion was pale. She stormed out of the car and marched furiously inside the house, ignoring her children completely.“Mum, are you okay? What happened?” Tessa asked, trying to block her path. But, one glare from Marie, made her move. She rushed towards Tristan, who was being helped out of the car by Angela and Alan.“What's wrong with mum? She looks ready to murder someone.” She asked Tristan, who exchanged a glance with Angela.“What does that look mean? What's happening?” She asked in alarm.“Is father home?” Tristan asked.“Yeah, but that doesn't answer my question. Why is mum so furious?” She asked again, visibly frustrated that no one was answering her question.“Where is he?” Tristan asked again.“In his study. For God's sake, why isn't anyone answering the damn question? What happened to mum?” she yelled.Just
She sat in front of a tiny glass window in a cubicle, tapping her fingers nervously on the table and lost in thought. It's been three days since she was discharged from the hospital and she had been putting off the idea of seeing her sister in prison till she couldn't anymore. She had to gather up all her courage to come here, concluding that Annabelle could not hurt her again as she was already behind bars. Now, sitting here, all that courage seemed to have faltered and she wondered if it was too late to leave. Just then, she looked up and her whole body tensed as she saw a haggard-looking Annabelle in cuffs, being escorted by a police officer. The officer removed the cuffs from her wrists and she slumped to the chair. Angela inhaled and tried to calm her nerves and her shaking hands as she picked up the phone in front of her. Annabelle did the same and for a few seconds, neither of them said a word to each other. They just stared, with the phone in their ears and different though
She remained silent, just staring blankly, throat dry, heart pounding until Tristan felt the need to speak.“Angela, please say something.”She finally focused her gaze on him, as the blank stare left her face. “Where is she?” she asked.“Detained,” Tristan answered.“Angie, she wants to see you,” Jane said, looking worried. Angela shifted her gaze to Jane as seven of the coldest words she had ever said, fell out of her mouth.“I have nothing to say to her!”“She's still your sister…” Tristan was saying, but she cut him short.“Was my sister! Now, I have no sister. I remember everything she did to me, including hiring those two men to beat me up. I was pregnant! And she knew it. You know what they said to me? They told me that she said they should get rid of it by any means necessary. She's the reason all this is happening. She could have killed you too, Tristan. And you say she's my sister? No, if she were my sister, she would never have done all that to me.”She yelled, angry tears
Her head was hurting so she once again thought she was hallucinating. Even though she just heard his voice, she couldn't bring herself to believe he was looking at her and talking to her. He was in a coma, so how was he doing any of that?“Are you okay?” he asked, startling her.“Y—you. You're awake?”“Surprised?” he asked with a smile.“I am. The doctor said it would probably take at least a month before you woke up.” Her face twisted in horror as she said, “Oh no, don't tell me I was unconscious for a month!” Tristan chuckled as he responded, “No, you weren't unconscious for a month, you were unconscious for a week.”“A week?” Angela asked as her face paled in horror. “Why? What happened?”“According to the doctor, when you fell, you hit your head pretty bad and since you already had a brain injury, it triggered something. But do you feel okay now? Did you forget anything?”She raked her brain, trying to figure out if she forgot anything, but she couldn't think of anything she mig
