Rewrite The Memory

Lev wrapped his arms around Vero’s waist just as Vero lifted her arms and wrapped them around the back of his neck. The coat hanging on her shoulder folded down, and Lev’s hand prevented it from falling.

Their kiss grew deeper as the snowfall became denser. Vero shivered as the cold flakes hit her face and hair.

“Ho—how can it snow in the summer?” Vero protested with her trembling lips.

Lev pulled back and gently wiped her wet cheek with his thumb. “Welcome to Duradel,” he whispered, as soft as his touch. “We have to go. You could freeze to death if we stay outside.”

Vero’s grip on Lev tightened. “B—but I don’t want to go back. I still want to be with you....”

Lev’s rarely-seen smile appeared on his lips. Just a small curve in one corner, but its effect was the same as when he kissed her.

“I’m not asking you to go back to the dorm,” he said. “We’re going somewhere where you won’t feel cold.”

Her eyebrows raised. “Hm? Where?”
