Chapter 36: Mirror

Ingrid knocked on the door before opening and entering. Lydia looked from the file she was working through and raised a brow at her presence and silence.

"It's dinner time." The younger maid announced.

Lydia's eyes widened, and she glanced at the clock on the nightstand. It affirmed Ingrid's words. She had spent over an hour and thirty minutes on these reports, and she thought she had only spent fifteen minutes. She rose and shut the report file and followed her downstairs.

She found Jayden already seated at the table, and the sight brought a smile to her face. She had missed him yesterday and this morning, and so she couldn't help the spring of happiness that started in her heart.

"Mister White, it's nice to find you here." She said with a small smile dancing around on her face.

He moved on his seat at her words as if uncomfortable. "Mister White? What am I? Your class teacher?" he frowned at her. "My name is Jayden to you, not Mister White; do you understand that?"

"Perfectly, sir."
