CHAPTER HUNDRED-SEVEN: I WILL PROTECT YOU

Catherine’s POV

I could hardly breathe, my heart was pounding with anxiety. Doctor Brown stood over Alexander’s bed. Alexander had been asleep for several hours that already made me start to panic. And although, Doctor Brown was standing right next to Alexander’s bed, with a calm gaze, I clung to the edge of the bed, my hands trembling as I observed Alexander with focused eyes.

“Is he going to be okay?” I asked for the 100th time, my voice barely more than a whisper.

Doctor Brown glanced at me, his eyes showing reassurance. “He’s going to be fine, Catherine. All the potassium is out of his system. He just needs some time to recover.”

As if on cue, Alexander began to stir. His body shifted slightly, and his eyelids fluttered open. My breath caught in my throat, and tears welled up in my eyes as I leaned closer.
