#82 Lies

Elsa's POV

"What? Jake! Stop panicking her! Jeez...!" I fumbled, my heart racing.

"Kathy! Don't listen to him." My voice cracked though I tried to steady myself. "He is an asshole! He is telling you lies to scare you because you blackmailed him and hurt his alpha ego! We were talking about some rogue before you woke up!"

"What?" Jake asked, startled by my accusations.

"Are you sure?" Kathy hesitated, and I could see she was not buying my excuses especially how Jake was behaving.

I glared at Jake to play along, but he didn't flinch. I forced a smile at Kathy. "He is just blabbering. You rest! We will see what others are doing."

And then I practically shoved Jake outside, trying to hide the panic rising in my chest. Once we were out of the cabin, and alone, I glowered at him, my hands against my waist.
