#29 Guilt Trip

Guilt.

More guilt.

I had woken up this morning on an adrenaline high, fueled by desire and forbidden passion. But now, as the day dragged on, guilt had taken over, driving me into a deep, suffocating pit. The intensity of the morning’s emotions had been starkly contrasted by the heavy weight of my remorse. The guilt was suffocating, pressing in from every side, made even more complex by the events of the day—particularly my unsettling encounter with Asher.

The rain pounded relentlessly as I trudged up to the mansion, the storm mirroring the turmoil inside me. My thoughts were a tangled mess.

“Miss White, you are drenched!” The security guard’s voice at the main mansion gate cut through my haze of guilt. I had been soaked to the bone somehow despite the umbrella I was holding, a meager shield against the downpour.

“I should not have gone out in this weather,” I murmured, lowering my gaze. The rain had plastered my clothes to my skin, and the chill was penetrating my very core.
