Numb shock!

My frustration bubbled up inside me, turning into seething anger. The plan taking shape in my mind would surely ruin them, paying them back for the pain they caused. Tears welled up in my eyes as I remembered Tiffany's hurtful words, insulting me and crossing all boundaries by calling my dead unborn child a bastard - without a hint of shame or regret for the misery she caused me in the past. Even her husband's lack of shame infuriated me. I was a fool to think I could take this lightly.

I hailed a taxi and headed straight home, sniffling and wiping away the tears. Then I thought of Brendon and wondered how he was doing, what was going through his mind.

I entered my room in a daze and stepped into the shower. When I emerged, the maid had already prepared dinner. I was still too downhearted to even talk to her, so I just picked up Brendon's plate and went to his room to give it to him. I knocked twice on his door before he finally opened it.
