Zane's P.O.VI whirled, my heart racing as Karen's voice cut into the silence. "Zane!"Her eyes narrowed, her brow furrowed in worry as she took in my form standing before the stone Aeges. The calm after the storm."What are you doing here?" I tried to sound composed instead of surprised.Karen's eyes darted to the stone and back to me. "I might ask you the same thing," she said, an accusation laced into her tone. "You know this is a sacred place."A surge of wariness entered my mind as Karen seemed to stare into mine as if she could read into them. "I came to meditate," I said, trying to remain neutral.Karen raised an eyebrow. "Meditate? With the Aeges stone?" Her voice just oozed skepticism.I steeled myself and looked right at her. "I needed direction," I said matter-of-factly.Karen's face was a little softer then, but more of a calculative expression. "Direction?" she repeated. "From the Aeges stone?A prickle of apprehension rose as Karen drew closer, her eyes bright with curio
Zane's P.O.V.As I stared at Karen's entrancing stride toward the Aeges stone, a chill of dismay and confusion crossed my mind. What in the world had pushed my sister to such an extent of yearning for power?I thought back to our childhood, growing up together in the pack. Karen had always been ambitious, but a sense of loyalty and duty to our family and pack had tempered her drive. But as time wore on, Karen's ambition soured into a hungry lust for power. Karen became a cruel, anything-to-reach-her-goals kind of person who didn't value anyone else that stood in her way.Was this some dark magic she had been reading about, or was there more to this? Had Karen always been like this, and I hadn't seen it?I just stood there, frozen in contemplation, with Karen's words echoing through my head: "The power of the Aeges stone will soon be mine." I knew that I had to thwart her, but another voice within me asked what could make even my sister go that way.Was it for the validation, for the r
Selena's PovRaven's eyes glinted as she walked into the room, flashing her pearly whites in a brilliant smile. "I gotta say, Seer you are looking particularly handsome today," she said in that throaty, husky voice that sent shivers running down my spine. She came closer to me with confident fluidity.I felt my surprise surge with her words, and my heart skipped a beat. Raven was flirting with me, and I didn't know how to react. A she wolf disguising herself as a male wolf, I hadn't anticipated drawing any romantic attention. But as I looked into the glittering eyes of Raven, I couldn't but be drawn to her in small ways. She was so charming, energetic, and seriously appeared interested in getting to know me. Her black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of night, green eyes sparkling like emeralds in the dimly lit room.I smiled back at her, coolly. "Well, thank you, Raven," I said, trying to sound smooth. "You're looking lovely yourself." I gestured toward a chair near her,
Selena's P.O.V.I trailed my way to the chamber of Alpha Rowan because my heart was going berserk with anticipation. Summoned by the alpha himself and oblivious about what to expect. As I entered the chambers, Alpha Rowan sat behind his desk, a look of seriousness upon his face. "Ah, Seer," he said, nodding at me. "Thank you for coming. I have some important news to share with you."I nodded and sat down in front of his desk. "Of course, Alpha," I replied with as much respect as possible.Alpha Rowan leaned further forward, his eyes meeting mine. "The first lot of workers from Moonstone Pack has arrived," he said, sounding excited for once. "And I have instructed that work on the clinic should begin.Impossible-the workers coming soon was expected, but so soon to start the building, I really wouldn't have thought."That's great news, Alpha," I tried to infuse some enthusiasm into my voice. "It will no doubt be quite an asset for the pack."A small smile that turned a bit wider as Alph
Selena's P.O.V.The more the day passed by, the more and more Raven hounded me to go to the hunt. With eyes aglow with excitement, she would pop up at any time and ask whether I was ready for that big night.First, I tried getting her off my back by informing her I had to attend to healer duties, but Raven was never one to quit and she'd only laugh it off, saying I needed a break, time to have fun.The sun had just about set, and before me again was Raven. But now in her eyes flashed the sharp gleam of mischief. "Come on, Seer," she whispered throatily, "time to prepare for the hunt. I'll see you at the rally point in 30 minutes."I blew a resigned sigh as resignation washed over me. At least, apparently Raven would not be content to let me avoid this hunting expedition, and quite honestly, I did feel a bit like the tide-being swept along."Fine," I said, aloud, in an effort to sound light. "I will meet you at the muster point. But do not depend on me for pulling a lot of weight for y

Selena's P.O.V.Kael led me to the clinic, and I could see that Moonstone Pack workers were busy at work; the hammer on stone walls rang. The sound of sawing-chiseling, the scent of freshly cut wood and mortar wafted to the site.Kael nodded toward the great stone wall, upon which half a dozen laborers were well in hand, framing in the roof of the clinic. "We're making good progress, Seer," he said proudly. "The walls are going up quickly, and we should have the roof on soon."I bowed my head respectful to such skills and industry among these workers, while, at the same time, meanwhile, a boulder of no inconsiderable weight had been winched - with much taking of care - into its correct position. The countenance had buckled now in concentration as these men began their work.Others dug away- creating a well and laying pipes for plumbing the clinic as the ring of the earth as struck by the pickaxes rung in concert with the rumble of rocks that moved. As morning wore on, the sun beat dow
Selena's POVI had a growl rising in my throat, but before words could leave my lips, a voice cut through our little tete-a-tete."Rowan, stop this!" Elara, Rowan's mother, swept onto the scene, her eyes ablaze with angry fire. "You're not of your right mind, son. The Seer is no threat to your rule."Anger twisted in his features, but Elara didn't move an inch. "Hear me, Rowan," she commanded firmly. "The Seer means something to the pack, and we stand in need of him. Just because you feel a little paranoid and jealous is really just not worth it.Anger flashed in Rowan's eyes, yet somehow, Elara had her words pierce through the blind rage. He breathed hard, and with a certain amount of time passing, the contorted face evened out to that mask of normalcy."I'm sorry, Seer," he said finally, gruff. "I think I might have overreacted."I nodded, yet remained wary. "It's okay, Rowan, but let's try keeping the communications open at least, okay?"Rowan nodded, and a smile spread across Elar
Karen's POV"Well spill it you!!" Rowan roared, already getting desperate. The guard stammered. "Getting to the gates I saw another letter the same paper making with the last... "I pulled it from his hands and glanced through it before he finished."Meet me at the Crescent valley of blood or I'll expose you all!! You stole her powers Karen, now your wolf is insane. If you want to get back to your r former state, meet me there by dusk. Perhaps the healing power would return... just perhaps."I read it loud." The powers Karen, think about it!! We'd kill the bloody messenger as soon as we get what we want, and this all would end!!" Rowan exclaimed as soon as I dropped the letter." Then what about the attack? " I asked him. Something just didn't feel right about all this, and I couldn't point it out.Rowan scoffed, a cloud of desperation hovering around his eyes. "What damn attack Karen? With the healing powers back we would rule the werewolf world and beyond!!" he roared, his claws sh
Karen's POVHaving been in Redmoon pack for five days, hunting and eating with them, I was beginning to feel sick of it all.I waited, day after day and night after night for news from the party of packs that attacked Moonstone pack, but nothing was coming forth."Battles take days, sometimes weeks," Rowan would always say. " Give them time Karen. Moonstone pack would be in our palms in just a matter of days, Selena dead!!"I always felt relieved whenever he talked about the death of Selena, but on the morning of the fifth day, I couldn't take it anymore."We need to get to them Rowan!! I can't stand this anymore," I said to him as soon as I got to his chamber.Still with his pipe, he turned his attention to me and puffed."Tell me Karen. What chance does Moonstone pack have to win the war waged against them? " he asked, taking in some more from the pipe.I shot a gaze at him, trying all I could to restrict the joyful smile that tried to form on my face."They have no chance Rowan...
Karen's POV"You have no goddamn right to attack any one here!!"That was the first sound I heard, my head spinning like a canon ball had hit me hard.I slowly opened my eye, me head throbbing with a a dull headache."You heard me right you bitch!! Never must you attack anyone here in Redmoon pack, " the voice repeated, louder than the last. I was still trying to open my eyes but I felt a surge of confusion as I did so.The voice was familiar, and as I struggled to make out who it was, I finally looked up.It was Rowan. What was he up to this time, I wondered within me.His face was twisted in a snarl and as he raised his hand, my eyes dilated."You!!!" he started to roar as his hand descended towards me.As if in cue, my wolf stirred almost immediately and before his hand could get to me, I had already grabbed it in a quick reflex.Fully awake, I roared at him. "Don't you dare!!" I got up from what I figured out to be a bed and stared at him, wondering where all that came from.My
Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.
Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening
Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he
Zane's POVIt was a scene from a battlefield, the packhouse transformed into a killing ground. And I, Zane, was powerless to stop it. All I could do was watch in horror as my pack, my friends, and my family were slaughtered before my very eyes. The flaming arrows seemed to come from everywhere, a relentless barrage of fire that seemed to never end. It was as if the very stars themselves were falling from the sky, each one a deadly missile aimed straight at our hearts. And I, Zane, was the only one who could stop it. But how? The question echoed through my mind, a desperate cry for help that seemed to go unanswered.I wished at that point that Selena would just walk in with her warriors. We desperately needed them. I sighted a flaming arrow travelling towards an elderly werewolf who used his back to protect his offsprings. It was travelling towards him with speed."Look out!!" I roared, but he was too old to move, to weak to. Rushing towards him, I stretched my hand and grabbed the ar
Zane's POVI took a step forward, my eyes burning with intensity. "We will not go quietly into the night. We will not roll over and surrender to our enemies. We will fight, with every ounce of strength we possess. We will fight for our pack, for our families, and for our very lives."The crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their faces set with determination and their eyes burning with a fierce hunger for battle. I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose wash over me.We would fight, and we would win. We would defend our pack, and our way of life. We would emerge victorious, or we would die trying.I was still filled with such encouragment and purposeful passion that I hadn't felt since I was a young child when a warrior from the borders ran up to one of the elders.I knew that something wasn't right, and as I waited for words to reach me, I looked up to the sky. My mind suddenly drifted to a distant past, very distant."You can tell it all by looking up in the nigh
Zane's POVAs I watched Selena walk away from me, I gasped softly, my heart palpitating. Karen was no longer considered as a sister, and she would dearly pay for all these, but first, I have several battles to win.I walked back to the large hall, and I watched as the healers tried all they could to revive the fallen warriors."We're nothing without the seer," one of the healers said softly as I approached her, her eyes fixed pleadingly on me."What's the situation?" I asked, squatting beside her and paying a dead ear to her earlier complaint."I've found his pulse Alpha," she said in a whisper, placing her hand on the guard's wrist and shutting her eyes slowly. "His wolf is fully alive!!""So?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared at her. " What stops you then?"She looked down dejectedly, her face long. "We all have tried, but it just doesn't work!! It's a strange art of healing to trigger his wolf to charge a pulse in his heart. "I let out a breath, glancing at the guard and
