Rowan's POVAs the intruder was being dragged away, I couldn't help but mock."We'll come back victorious," I said almost in a whisper, taking slow steps towards her, "and I'll have you fed to the dogs and wild beasts."She scoffed, raising her face and looking up into my eyes. " You'll be fed to dogs and birds if you're not lucky, but these ones," she paused, her eyes travelling to the warriors around us, "they'd all be fed to the wild for sure."I grew furious at this, rushing to her and burying my claws deep into her neck. "I am Rowan, and I never lose a battle."Holding her still for a while, I reasoned on the implications of killing her there at the spot. But then I thought otherwise. She'll testify of our fighting prowess and conquest after the war, but for now, she'd remain in the dungeons, locked away from light and general life."Take her away!!" I ordered, releasing my grip on her and pushing her towards them. As she was being dragged away, her laughter echoed deep in my mi
Rowan's POVI watched as the sun dipped into the horizon, and I waited in great anticipation for the signal. I and my warriors moved stealthily, our paws making heavy sounds on the forest floor. We were at the outskirts of mysticshadow pack, and it was only a matter of time before they would be bowing to my feet.Or so I thought."Remember," I began to say in a whisper. "We wait for the first sign of a warrior opening the gates. Once that happens, we launch for the attack!! "My warriors nodded, stealing glances at the moon and seemingly praying that it all works out well. We had been planning for this attack for weeks, and I was more than dead sure that we would be victorious.Mysticshadow pack was without a head, and it was only a matter of right plannings to bring them down to their knees. As we settled into our positions, I turned to elder Ryker who was standing just beside me."You know you shouldn't have come," I said light-heartedly.He turned to me and scoffed. "You won't sur
Rowan's POVAs the defence posed by the warriors or mysticshadow pack got intense, I charged at them with all intensity, quite amazed at the advanced skills and fighting prowess they displayed."We have to charge harder!!" I roared, immediately regretting my choice as I earlier wanted to hide my identity as planned. The warriors with me obeyed, charging and sticking their claws with all they've got.The enemy warriors, taken aback by the sudden added strength and speed, stumbled backwards in disarray. One of the warriors, obviously the leader among them, raised his hand up and pointed it at us. This made the enemy warriors to tilt their heads up, giving a look howl to the night sky."What's that?" the chief warrior of my army asked in a whisper, taking a more defensive stand."That's the sound of alarm. This means that they're not alone in the fight!! We've got to press harder or we lose," I replied, disguising my voice properly. The warriors were masked, but I was able to properly r
Rowan's POVI heaved a great sigh of relief after the young warrior dropped dead."Good riddance," I thought as I turned around and faced another group of enemy warriors. And so the fight continued, tearing of flesh and true striking of claws, our paws making thudding sounds on the earth below us.At a time it seemed we were losing out, as I watched around and noticed that my warriors were reducing drastically in number."Alpha...." my chief warrior began to call me as soon as he got closer to me, but he paused immediately as he recalled our disguise.I struck an enemy warrior with my left claw, then turned to answer him, my eyes glaring."We're losing out out best of warriors, I'm afraid..." he paused again, sensing the presence of an enemy warrior behind him and turning around with precision, digging his claws deep into the enemy warrior and sending him to the ground.I turned around to, in an attempt to continue the fight."Sir, I'm afraid we're losing this one," he said to me ami
Rowan's POVI stood there, my mind reeling on the several possibilities of my actions."How could they have known my name?" I asked myself for the umpteenth time, turning back and staring at my warriors. My chief warrior looked as shocked as I was, his claws shooting out as he made to attack the healers."Karl!!" I called loudly, still maintaining the disguise I used in my voice. I stretched my hand towards him, ordering him to retreat. "This is not our fight," I whispered to him, gesturing forward with my hand and ordering him to move.He promptly obeyed, reversing his direction and facing the packhouse. Bit the healers were not relenting."Rowan!!" one of them called again. "You seek what is to destroy you!! The throne was reserved for the chosen one, and.... "" I am the chosen one!!" I roared, my claws shooting out uncontrollably as I turned sharply at them in a threatening pose. They scoffed. "And to die is gain for us, to live in misery, away from our leader is great loss!! You
Rowan's POVThe warrior's eyes flashed with pain as he dropped all efforts to stand against me. My claws were already deep into his flesh, and he had no strengthened left to even yelp in pain.I was breathing hard, shutting my eyes and pulling my claws out of his chest. He cursed me for a while, gradually dropping to the ground below him."You lost the war, thou rogue!!" he cursed with a final breath, landing on the dirt with a loud thud.Still breathing hard and fast, I dropped on my knees, looking up to the moon above and giving out a loud howl.I lost it all-the battle, my prestige, and a good chunk of my warriors. It was just to much to bear, and as I knelt beside my adversary, the words of the healer I encountered back in Mysticshadow pack just glared in front of me."You're fighting a losing battle," she had said. " Choose to die honourably."I shook my head fervently as the thoughts of dying in the hands of the fallen warrior beside me sent shivers through my spine. What would
Selena's POV"Selena!!" Raven called in exclamation, startling me greatly. "You'd better be on your toes around here. Wouldn't want the patient to be... " she paused, drawing closer to me, her eyes filled with hate and animosity. She lowered her voice to a whisper. "Wouldn't want the patient to be stuffed up with your awful smell. "She gave out a loud hiss, turning around and heading to the door.I felt a pang of pain ripple all through my body as she said this, noting how quickly things had turned against my favour. The leading council of Elders and warriors came together not too long ago and appointed Karen as the new chief healer, handing to her every thing I had in my possession, even much more.Zane went mad at this, trying all he could to oppose the appointment with all the powers and authority he had as the Alpha. The memory was still fresh upstairs, and I remember walking up to him a certain night."Zane," I had called, taking gentle steps towards him. He was standing, faci
Selena's POV"Selena, your presence is needed at the infirmary," she said, her voice dripping with disdain.I felt a surge of anger, but I knew I had to keep my cool. I gave Zane a signal to keep quiet, and reluctantly pulled away from him.As I turned to follow Karen, I could feel Zane's eyes on me, boring into my skin. I knew that he wanted to protest, to argue, but I also knew that he wouldn't. Not now, not in front of Karen.Karen scoffed, turning to face Zane for a brief moment, before turning back to me. "Let's go," she said, her voice cold and detached.I followed her, feeling a sense of reluctance and frustration. I knew that I had to get out of there, to get away from Karen and her toxic attitude. But as I left the room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of loss, of longing. I had left Zane behind, and I knew that it would be a while before I saw him again. We walked through the hallway, my mind filled with the scary thoughts of Karen's dominance over me. If Zane heeds to my p
Karen's POV"Well spill it you!!" Rowan roared, already getting desperate. The guard stammered. "Getting to the gates I saw another letter the same paper making with the last... "I pulled it from his hands and glanced through it before he finished."Meet me at the Crescent valley of blood or I'll expose you all!! You stole her powers Karen, now your wolf is insane. If you want to get back to your r former state, meet me there by dusk. Perhaps the healing power would return... just perhaps."I read it loud." The powers Karen, think about it!! We'd kill the bloody messenger as soon as we get what we want, and this all would end!!" Rowan exclaimed as soon as I dropped the letter." Then what about the attack? " I asked him. Something just didn't feel right about all this, and I couldn't point it out.Rowan scoffed, a cloud of desperation hovering around his eyes. "What damn attack Karen? With the healing powers back we would rule the werewolf world and beyond!!" he roared, his claws sh
Karen's POVHaving been in Redmoon pack for five days, hunting and eating with them, I was beginning to feel sick of it all.I waited, day after day and night after night for news from the party of packs that attacked Moonstone pack, but nothing was coming forth."Battles take days, sometimes weeks," Rowan would always say. " Give them time Karen. Moonstone pack would be in our palms in just a matter of days, Selena dead!!"I always felt relieved whenever he talked about the death of Selena, but on the morning of the fifth day, I couldn't take it anymore."We need to get to them Rowan!! I can't stand this anymore," I said to him as soon as I got to his chamber.Still with his pipe, he turned his attention to me and puffed."Tell me Karen. What chance does Moonstone pack have to win the war waged against them? " he asked, taking in some more from the pipe.I shot a gaze at him, trying all I could to restrict the joyful smile that tried to form on my face."They have no chance Rowan...
Karen's POV"You have no goddamn right to attack any one here!!"That was the first sound I heard, my head spinning like a canon ball had hit me hard.I slowly opened my eye, me head throbbing with a a dull headache."You heard me right you bitch!! Never must you attack anyone here in Redmoon pack, " the voice repeated, louder than the last. I was still trying to open my eyes but I felt a surge of confusion as I did so.The voice was familiar, and as I struggled to make out who it was, I finally looked up.It was Rowan. What was he up to this time, I wondered within me.His face was twisted in a snarl and as he raised his hand, my eyes dilated."You!!!" he started to roar as his hand descended towards me.As if in cue, my wolf stirred almost immediately and before his hand could get to me, I had already grabbed it in a quick reflex.Fully awake, I roared at him. "Don't you dare!!" I got up from what I figured out to be a bed and stared at him, wondering where all that came from.My
Chapter 206The battlefield was filled with chaos. The entire place was filled with the cry of my men as they fell to the ground, bloodied, bruised and some dead. Growls and the sound of flesh being cut tore through the thick air and the scent of blood and churned earth filled the entire atmosphere. My gaze swept over the field, my claws withdrawn from my hands as I watched the rest of Rowan's deserters close in on us, large swords, axes and arrows by their side, the sharp metal gleaming in the weak light of dawn. That was why they seemed endless. They were just dying, but more were diverging from the war with Zane go come here. A low growl escaped my lips, my face squeezing into a deep frown as I jumped down from my horse. One of the warriors rode towards me, a bow and arrow in their hand. The arrow was shot towards me but I quickly grabbed it midair and threw it back at him. Before he could register what was happening, the sharp metal sunk into his head and he dropped down dead.
Selena's POVBefore the sun had even begun to rise, I had already rounded up the warriors who had pledged to fight with me. The morning air held a stale scent that seemed fresh of combat and blood, a harsh reminder of the war that still laid ahead of us. I stood at the center of the packs training fields, and with me were the warriors—men and women who had previously been divided but now were with me. They had a mixture of determination and skepticism in their eyes. I knew there were those who still doubted, but I could not allow skepticism to take root among us."Mount your horses," I commanded, my voice firm. "We ride out now."They took their places, marching to the stables where our horses already waited saddled and prepared. I had ordered the stable lads to ensure that each horse was in prime order for the forthcoming long ride and they had toiled all through the night to do so. Fresh hay mixed with morning due, the sound of waiting hooves, and the sweat of warriors fastening
Selena’s POVAs we approached, the guards stationed at the gates of Mysticshadow Pack immediately tensed, their hands tightening around the weapons they held by their side. The lit torches hung on the wall flickered in the night, casting ominous shadows on their stern faces. I could see the hesitation in their eyes. They seemed like new guards as I didn't recognize them, but from their scent, I knew they were one of us.I knew they recognized me, but there was some underlying tension in their gazes as they stared at me. I knew something had happened since I had last stepped foot here. But they still knew better than make a move. “Halt!” one of them commanded, stepping forward, his claws half drawn. His sharp gaze scanned me from head to toe. “State your business.”“Are you dumb?” I muttered through clenched teeth as I walked towards the guard. “I came to gather alliances. The Moonstone Pack is under siege, and we must unite to stop the war.”The guard hesitated for a moment when he
Zane's POVIt was a scene from a battlefield, the packhouse transformed into a killing ground. And I, Zane, was powerless to stop it. All I could do was watch in horror as my pack, my friends, and my family were slaughtered before my very eyes. The flaming arrows seemed to come from everywhere, a relentless barrage of fire that seemed to never end. It was as if the very stars themselves were falling from the sky, each one a deadly missile aimed straight at our hearts. And I, Zane, was the only one who could stop it. But how? The question echoed through my mind, a desperate cry for help that seemed to go unanswered.I wished at that point that Selena would just walk in with her warriors. We desperately needed them. I sighted a flaming arrow travelling towards an elderly werewolf who used his back to protect his offsprings. It was travelling towards him with speed."Look out!!" I roared, but he was too old to move, to weak to. Rushing towards him, I stretched my hand and grabbed the ar
Zane's POVI took a step forward, my eyes burning with intensity. "We will not go quietly into the night. We will not roll over and surrender to our enemies. We will fight, with every ounce of strength we possess. We will fight for our pack, for our families, and for our very lives."The crowd erupted into a chorus of cheers and applause, their faces set with determination and their eyes burning with a fierce hunger for battle. I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and purpose wash over me.We would fight, and we would win. We would defend our pack, and our way of life. We would emerge victorious, or we would die trying.I was still filled with such encouragment and purposeful passion that I hadn't felt since I was a young child when a warrior from the borders ran up to one of the elders.I knew that something wasn't right, and as I waited for words to reach me, I looked up to the sky. My mind suddenly drifted to a distant past, very distant."You can tell it all by looking up in the nigh
Zane's POVAs I watched Selena walk away from me, I gasped softly, my heart palpitating. Karen was no longer considered as a sister, and she would dearly pay for all these, but first, I have several battles to win.I walked back to the large hall, and I watched as the healers tried all they could to revive the fallen warriors."We're nothing without the seer," one of the healers said softly as I approached her, her eyes fixed pleadingly on me."What's the situation?" I asked, squatting beside her and paying a dead ear to her earlier complaint."I've found his pulse Alpha," she said in a whisper, placing her hand on the guard's wrist and shutting her eyes slowly. "His wolf is fully alive!!""So?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows as I stared at her. " What stops you then?"She looked down dejectedly, her face long. "We all have tried, but it just doesn't work!! It's a strange art of healing to trigger his wolf to charge a pulse in his heart. "I let out a breath, glancing at the guard and
