ROWAN'S POV

Rain lashed down on us like arrows, soaking us to the bone as we trudged through the forest which had now been enveloped in darkness. The canopy provided scant shelter above, and with each heavy step that we took, the mud sucked at our already worn out boots.

My hold on Raven's hard tightened, practically dragging her as her energy ebbed away with every passing minute. Not one word had slipped out of her lips ever since we left the dungeon and it scared me. Her steps came in staggers, her breaths shallow gasps, but still I knew I couldn't stop. To stop meant to give up, and I couldn't afford that, not now or ever.

"Just a little bit further," I muttered more to myself than to Raven as we moved on. In truth, I had no idea how much further we did actually need to go, but it was said to soothe him. Still, even I heard the lie in my voice.

I lifted my eyes, blocking the rain which seemed never-ending from hitting my eyes. Before us was just one endless forest: only a maze of

Selena's POVI finally felt peace. The battle seemed to be over. Walking into the royal courtroom, the high, vaulted ceiling room seemed to stretch up to the heavens,it's intricate stone carvings and gilded details glinting in the soft, golden light that poured in through the window. The rays of the sun stealing it's way into the courtroom served as a signal of relative peace, and I felt an inward relaxation. My wolf was pleased.Sitting on the throne, my fingers grasping the ornate armrests, I could imagine Zane sitting beside me. his eyes locked in mine.Oh, Zane.My wolf gave a chorus of howls at the thought of Zane, his strong jawline coming resurfacing in my memory, his broad shoulders seeming to envelope me, sweeping me off my present state. It all seemed like a dream that I was mated to him.My Zane.Just at the height of my imagination, a young lad, one I preferred to carry simply messages around the pack house burst into the room, his face flushed with the excitement of a young

Selena's POV"What are you doing?" I mustered incredible courage to ask him, noting the defenselessness of my entire system. Noting a guard pass us seemed to have heightned my resolve to put myself together. With a subtle movement, I withdrew my hand, my fingers slipping out of his grasp, and my entire body too. He didn't utter a word, instead his eyebrow furrowed, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watched me.I knew he surely would fail to comprehend me."I'm really sorry Zane. It's just that I need time. "" Time? " he asked, my wolf happily growling as his bass voice echoed all through." Yes Zane. I need time. That's all I need from you at this point. "Selena," he called in a whisper, walking towards me slowly, in an intimidating manner. "Do you need time to heal? Heal with me then. I'll heal you here, and here, and also here, " he said simultaneously pointing at my head, my neck and my fingers. "Stop it, oh stop please.... Zane!!!" I called, giggling and turning around to avo

Zane's POVStepping away from Mystic shadow pack and away from Selena made my heart bleed. Riding my horse through the rolling heels and verdant forests, the feeling of emptiness that had settled within me was unshakable. All the memories was still in one piece. The memories of Selena's lips on mine, the feeling of her body against mine, her laughter and free spiritedness, all lingered in my mind likened to a ghostly presence.Glancing over at Thane my beta who was sitting beside me, I noticed that his eyes was fixed on my face, his expression blank."Troubled? I sense it," he asked, quicky reverting his direction and facing ahead.Clenching my fist and facing ahead, I tried to avoid the irritation that I felt at that question. I really didn't want to admit how much Selena had gotten under my skin. "I'll be fine, as much as I am," I said to him.Thane's eyes flickered with concern but he tried to maintain a neutral face. As we rode on, the silence between Thane and me was palpab

I knew I was into something interesting, as my wolf kept drawing me out of my room and along the way to the study. Karen's POVThe effect of the information was too much to bear. As I paced around the room, my mind was racing with thoughts and emotions, and began to feel like I was going to collapse. My legs felt more like a jelly, my breath coming in short gasps, and I felt my heart racing like a wide animal.Looking around the study room, images of my dead parents and other old servants began too appear around me, taking very familiar positions. It was more like a picture, only that this time they were moving and creating the very conversations that I cherished the most."No, Zane. She's your sister. Give her some of your bread,"I heard mother say as she leaned to read out a poem from a book."Yes. We attack by sunrise!!" the chief warrior said, emphasizing on the last words, but speaking in a bit of a whisper.Father only nodded, his eyes fixed on me. A wide smile escaped his lips as he locked eyes with me."Karen, my dear. Come now," he called, gesturing for me to come closer to him. "I'll be

I sat up on my bed, my ears twinging. Of course it's strange!!" I yelled, placing my hand immediately on my head as my head began to ache. "How long have you known about it?"His face turned serious as he walked towards me. Karen's POVI watched with amazement as the scene played before me. The servant kept insisting that the door was locked."Karen tell me everything. The door was locked, wasn't it?" Zane asked me, his eyes softening as he walked towards me." I swear that the room was locked Alpha.... "" Enough!!! " Zane roared, turning to face the guard as he did so. "I ran all the way to this place all because of this??"" Karen," he called, turning to face me again. " Was the door ever locked?" I looked up at him for a while and then to the guard. I could remember that I struggled once with the door before the revelation from father, but it was part of the trans. And I wasn't willing to tell him what I saw or what father said. Not now at least."No Zane, it wasn't locked," I said, trying to keep my voice firm. " I'm positive. I wouldn't have forgotten so soon if the door was locked. Zane's eyes furrowing, his face became slightly skeptical. "Are you sure? " he pressed softly, carrasing my cheek

"Don't get me wrong, Tharen. Indeed I have fallen for your convincing gift again."" I perfectly understand, my lord. It's the duty of the seer to stand by the alpha at all times, even using the best of his talents to support his goals and drives. "" Very well said, Tharen, well said, " I replied, turning to shake hands with an elder moving outside.I watched with surprise as Tharen's hands turned into fists, his smile, previously charming and effortless, stiffening."When do you plan to leave, my lord?" he asked, his eyes darting to the side before regained composure. I turned to face him sharply, his gaze meeting mine with an unnerving intensity."Why so tro

ROWAN'S POV Three nights before the war arrived and it blurred past in the haze of tension, strategy, and anticipation. It was filled with activity at first over the night. Whispering commanders in huddled clusters all concocting a means of making the most out of any weakness in enemy defenses. As everyone hurried about, getting themselves busy with one thing or the other, I stood at the center of my tent with my eyes focused on the map lying right across my feet. For the time being, I had been made General to Darius, so they had asked for me to lay out my plans to the commanders again-to strike at the weak eastern flank of the Mystic Shadow Pack.Cain, lead scout, returned with good reconnaissance-the routes the enemy patrolled were predictable, and though their numbers were formidable, they were spread thin across the territory. "We have the advantage," Cain assured me with sharp eyes that gleamed with confidence as he walked out of my tent. Yet a feeling of gnawing unease could n

That, as you all know would help up in turn have a strengthened alliance," I said, looking at all the elders on their faces."True to word, Alpha Zane, but how do you with to accomplish that , considering the distance between the two packs? " Elder Rhodes who sat opposite me asked, his face ladened with concern.I took a deep breath. "I'll have to go there.""Oh you truly don't mean that Alpha Zane, do you? " Thanos asked, sharing glances with other elders around him.I knew it would be hard to convince them to see reasons with my suggestion, but I had to give it a try."The newly coronated Alpha of mysticshadow pack is no other than our very own Seer, Selena."As I said this, I watched as the expression on their faces changed from surprise on my earlier suggestion, to a greater surprise at the d
