Chapter 22

Before I knew it, I was opening my eyes before dawn, as usual. I was wide awake, so I tried to sit up, but I had an iron band around my waist. I chuckled as I moved his arm from around me. I went to the bathroom and braided my hair so that I could take a shower without getting my hair wet. I got in the shower and dried off, then put my robe on to go to the closet. I put on the dress I bought yesterday, then a pair of sandals.

I went to the kitchen and made biscuits and sausage gravy for breakfast, then made a plate for my mate and put it on a tray with a cup of coffee and took it to the bedroom. He woke up when he smelled breakfast, “Mmm that smells so good.” I put the tray over his lap and I asked, “What else can I get for you, love?” He asked, “Can I have another biscuit?” I smiled, “Be right back.” I jogged into the kitchen and grabbed another biscuit.
