~Marcie~
I walked out of the exam room with Sarah beside me. Her vibrant aura radiated from every inch of her figure; she exuded warmth and confidence. Her bright smile and bright eyes seemed to light up the entire hallway, and even though the exam we had wasn't all that, Sarah just had a way to make things feel good and hopeful.
Standing beside her, I felt almost doll-like with my petite frame structure and delicate features that made me fragile. I was what I would call average-height, but because I was beside Sarah, people would describe me as short, and that's because Sarah was gifted with height, and I wasn't. I took my mother's height; almost all my physical appearance was from mom and dad—only won with my stubbornness and eyes. I had his eyes—those unique multicolored blue-gray eyes which I'm grateful that I inherited.
Sarah, being enthusiastic, pulled me into an embrace with her ginger hair stuff into my mouth as she crushed me. I could barely breathe as she carried my petite body and turned around.
“I can't believe we are done with this semester; I can't wait to leave the campus,” She beamed happily, dropping me to the ground.
While I rolled my eyes sarcastically, of course I know why she was beaming so happily, “Or you are excited to meet your sweet little church boy,” I teased, and she faked a frown.
Her lips pulled up in a pout that seemed to make her look like she's some super hot chic, “No, Marcie. Tom's not a little church boy; yes, he is holy and a devoted Christian. It doesn't make him little; it only makes me more fond of him; you know how much I really like someone who's devoted,” She prattled. Here she goes again. Losing herself and talking about Tom as if he were some prince charming.
I could almost block my eardrums if that's the only way I would stop hearing her talk about Tom. Sarah is such a romantic girl. I'm so happy that she found the one. Tom is cool, respectful, nice, sweet, and he is very cute. Fits Sarah's sexy appearance, and he's overall serious with her, and I'm so happy for her.
But you know, sometimes when you are single and you have to hear your best friend/roommate talk about her boyfriend in this manner, you just have to zone out.
“Okay, Sarah, I get it. Enough about Tom,” I cut her off when I realized she was about to tell me how much she missed him and the things they do during the holidays since Tom lived in town 8 hours away from college.
Sarah tucks her hair to the back childishly as her face turns red due to embarrassment, “I'm sorry,” she murmured.
“C’mon, it's not your fault that relationship isn't for me; besides, I'm the one always breaking up with them, not the other way around, and please let not spend the rest of the remaining minute we have here sulking about the issues of boys. We have a few minutes before you go meet your boo,” I said, and then her face lit up as if she wasn't feeling guilty a moment ago.
That's my girl.
“True, so now are you going to go back to your dad’s house or perhaps you'll continue working in the cafe,” She queried, her arms locked as we walked back to our dorm.
“Nope, I decided to intern for a company this holiday. I feel it's better I do before Dad locks me up again,” I responded, and she stopped in her tracks. She cupped my cheek and sent me a pity look.
“Sighs; sometimes I envy you, and sometimes I don't. You are such a cute little thing, and yes, you have so much to explore, and I'm glad you decided to do something,” She cooed. I removed her hands from my cheeks and glared at her.
“You need to stop talking to me like I'm your child; just because you are graced with height doesn't mean I'm your younger sister,” I warned jokingly, still a fake glare on.
“I still see you as my child, poor, poor Marcie. I'm sure you love me calling you my younger sister,” She teased, and I pointed a finger at her, but she held it, measuring my hands with hers.
“See how tiny those fingers are,” she teased again, and I stormed away.
“Hey, short legs wait for me, alright, alright—fine, I won't tease you again. Wait for me,” she yelled and then walked over to my side. I opened the door of our dorm, and we walked in.
“So where do you want to Intern,” She asked, and a sly smirk curled up on my lips.
She gave me a knowing look, “Okayyyy, tell me what it is you are hiding from me. I know that smirk, and it screams you are planning to work with a company your daddy won't agree with,” She said, and then sat down beside me on the bed to hear whatever it is I had to say.
“Well, bestie…” I trailed off and held her hands, squeezing it tight. I smacked my lips and let out a short laughter.
“You are right, Sarah, but you have to trust me in this; once I get the approval, then I might tell you,” I insisted, and she groaned.
“Hey, don't do that to me. We don't hide anything from each other,” she pleaded, and I decided to act like I wasn't hearing her. She stood up abruptly, and then before I knew it, she started tickling my stomach, a very weak point of mine that got me cracking on the floor.
“Okay, O-okay, fine,” I gave in.
“Promise?” She muttered, still tickling me.
“Promise,” I replied, and then she stopped.
I adjusted my clothes and shifted far away from her, “I applied to work at Kingston Enterprise as a software developer,” I confessed, and her eyes widened.
“The heck! Marcie, are you insane? You know your dad won't let you do that,” She half-yelled. Sarah was shocked, flabbergasted, and, more importantly, not impressed with my decision.
Of course, people might think I'm crazy, but I just want to know why that company makes Dad out of his mind. Well, I know one of the reasons, but that can't be why he is so worked up about them.
“Dad won't find out; I changed my identity, and besides, nobody knows who my parents are, and don't forget I'm a hacker. One of the best in history,” I reminded her, but then Sarah wasn't having it.
And that's why I didn't want her to know in the first place; she would be so worried.
“It’s going to be fine, Sarah. Trust me, okay,” I reassured.
“Promise you would call me every day to tell me every detail about your life there,” she brought her pinky fingers. I smiled at her and locked mine with hers.
“I promise, now cheer up and let go and celebrate before I go to work.”
~Carsen~My eyes glazed as I listened to the monotone voices in the meeting room. Another pointless decision about quarterly sales and marketing strategies. My mind wanders, drifting to the stacks of papers awaiting me back in the office. Just two days in this damn human city, and I am already going out of my mind. This is ridiculous; even the pack issues aren't mind-wracking.“... and we need to increase our online presence…” someone droned on.How much longer?I wondered how long I was supposed to endure all this with the humans surrounding me. My gaze drifted out the window, watching the cityscape. I hope things are good in the pack.I had the urge to call Darren to check up on him and Luna. I hope we don't have any issues with those rogues; I can't just help but be worried.Maybe because I miss the pack and everything in it. It's so much different than this place; cars here and there. Noises polluted everywhere, nothing like curfew or silence.Just messy. Finally, the meeting was
~Marcie~I stepped into Kingston Enterprise, my heart beating rapidly, racing with excitement. I know this wasn't my first time, but this is my first day of work.I know if my dad hears about me working here, he's going to freak out. Freeze my account and force me to come back home, but then I'm confident that that man won't know a shit about me working here, and I'm also doing him a favor. My supervisor was a lady in a corporate red gown and her hair packed in a neat bun. Her lips a shade of red and her body, adorned with a trinket, earrings, and a necklace, walked majestically in my direction. She greeted me warmly, “Welcome to Kingston Enterprise, Emily.”Jade, I figured that her name on the tag, led me to where my table was in the office. My eyes blazed proudly when I saw a brand-new computer on my desk and a stunning view of the city.My hands felt itchy, ready to start working on this beautiful computer, which looked yummy to the eyes.“This will be your table for the next few m
~Carsen~I raked my hands down my hair as I watched her retreating figure. My teeth clenched as I remembered how delicate she was when I pinned her to the wall.I was in my office doing some work when I inhaled her scent—that chocolate mint scent laced with a fresh woody smell. It was chaotic, and before I could even pinpoint a thing or two, Rowan took over and pinned her to the wall. His eyes glazed with so much possession that he didn't want to let go.Her eyes were alluring and I knew she was checking me out, but what jerked me out of my reverie was the hidden human scent. When I called her my Mate and the reaction she gave was proof that she had no idea what that meant.Fuck!I jerked back, but Rowan wanted to pull her closer to him.I pushed him to the back of my mind and spoke rudely to her. First thing first, get her out of the office and then look for a way to get her out of this company. She can't work here, not when I know that every time I come her scent would be a distract
Marcie's POV I was about to return to my desk and resume work as Mrs. Jade had sent me on an errand earlier. As I touched my neck region, I noticed that I had bruises, and it hurt me a little bit.I rushed back to the bathroom and took a proper look at the mirror. I was injured a little bit. How could someone act as crazy as the man who pinned me to the wall? I can guess that it was his first time seeing me. Aside from his looks and charming structure, he owes me an apology for harassing me and speaking rudely to me.No matter what happens, I must remain coordinated, as it is my first day at work. I need to get my scarf to cover up the bruise on my neck. I would make him pay for his actions and behavior, but first of all have to secure my job.I started going back to my desk so that I could resume duties as other staff were already settled and working."Hi, Marcie," the voice of Mrs. Jade called from behind.I stopped for a while and then turned back to respond to her."Hope y
Carsen's POV I dismissed Darren's call when I noticed someone coming into my office. I looked and waited for the person to come out.To my greatest surprise, it was my mate whom I had encountered earlier. What could she be doing here after all the rude attitude she displayed earlier? I cannot stop imagining how she spoke to me in a very rude tone. Not only that, she ordered me to pick up the papers on the ground. As she came in, she acted as though she did not come to create issues while she demanded the presence of the CEO.Only if she knew that I was the one she was looking for. I guess when she finds out, she will regret her earlier actions. And from the look of things, she desperately needed the job to survive.I made her know that I was the one she was seeking, but reluctantly, she refused to believe me. I should not waste my precious time proving a point to a mere human. As she tried creating a big deal out of it, Logan, who was my secretary, came in at the rig
Carsen's POV This particular staff acts a bit differently. Her character is weird. Since she found out that I was a person she should not offend, she kept acting normal.I do not know the reason why she forgets that I am her CEO, and I have every single right to decide if she stays or not. There is something very interesting about her nonchalant attitude, and I would be the one to handle her issues. This workplace is going to be a living hell for her. First of all, she is going to pay for what Selene did to me.How could she give me a mere human as a mate? Knowing fully well that those creatures are weak and pathetic. Not only did she punish me with a human, but she also gave me a rude and arrogant one.In the sense that I can do nothing to change it, I cannot even question her; the lady would pay for it.I brought out my system to find out things about her and to know what was giving her the urge to disobey her CEO."Emily Martin! That is a perfect name for a slave," I said to my
Marcie's POV It was already getting late, and I was still outside waiting for the clothes vendor to arrive, even though he had told me he was on his way.I would not blame him for the delays; I would rather blame the person who sent me here to punish me for what he knows he is at fault for.I kept calling the vendor, and he gave me excuses and asked me to be patient. One thing I hated doing was going home late or being seen hanging around at night; besides, the country is not even too safe at night. After waiting for almost two hours, he finally arrived. As he saw the deadly look on my face, he started smiling from afar. All I did at the moment was ask myself who the hell he was smiling with, because I probably knew it was not me.He came up with a lot of excuses and apologies, but that was not my problem. All I needed was the clothes of my wicked boss.Immediately, he handed them over to me; I headed back to the office without saying goodbye to the vendor.I was just thinking of a b
Carsen's POV After she had brought the clothes that I asked her to bring, I noticed that it had taken her so long, and it was already late. As she acted angry, the only thing that came to my mind was how she would go home at that late hour.It was not new to anyone that the country was not safe at night. It was a general thing around the world because at night people who had the motive to commit crimes carried out their mission successfully without any trace. I asked her to come in so that I could figure out a way to send her home safely. As usual, she acted stubborn and refused to come in. The last thing I would do is force someone into my house because they could turn my good deeds into something else. I ignored her asking her to wait for me while I went in to drop off the clothes she had brought from my vendor and also grab my car key. I knew that she would not work out like that because she desperately needed a job for her survival. As I came out with my keys, s
Carsen's POVI was shocked to see Emily out there, even though I knew that she would be the only person who would be able to knock on my door, because the other people who were there just came to do their job. If they wanted to see me, they would have to go through Emily before getting access to my room or before knocking on my door.I was shocked, but then I set my eyes on her, and she was looking so beautiful, and the dress she was putting on made her look so perfect. I was so amazed and so happy to see her that way, which made me compliment her so much."Oh my goodness, Emily, is this you? You look really amazing in your dress; you look so beautiful," I said to her as I saw her in the dress, looking so beautiful and mind-blowing."Thank you so much, but are you okay?" she asked him. The question was strange, and I did not understand the reason why she asked me such a question. I looked at her in confusion. I expected her to give me a reason why she would ask me if I was okay."Is t
Treasure's POV Early the next morning, I got up as I knew that I had a lot to do and there was something really important that I needed to handle. I began to call Tracy K to know if he was ready and if everything was going to go as planned. I did not want anything to ruin what I had in mind and how I wanted the whole journey to work out."Hello, Tracy. Good morning. I know it is too early for me to start calling you, but I needed to confirm if everything was well set. You know that we do not have to take any chances at all because this is where our earnings lie," I said to him as he picked up the call. "Good morning, sir. As for what you are talking about, it is actually too early, I should say, but I will definitely know what's up when it is a bit brighter. I am still in bed right now as both of us are speaking, and it was your call that woke me up," Tracy K explained to me."All right, I understand what you are trying to say and what you are talking about, but then I want ever
Treasure's POVI did not know if I made it obvious to him that I wanted to figure out what had happened at that moment. All I knew was that I was trying my best to make everything not noticeable."Sir, it is already late, but if you want me to help you pick up what you need, I will be so glad to get them for you. I can probably help you to do it rather than you stressing yourself at all," Tracy responded to me. I was so happy that they did not make any meaning out of it."Not at all; you do not have to worry yourself. I could do that by myself, or I could send someone else to probably pick up the things for me. You have done a lot of things for me today, and I really appreciate that. Thank you so much for everything, but now you have to give me the name of the mall and the address so that I can go pick it up once I need it before it gets too late. I could have waited till tomorrow, but I need them so urgently, and I think you can help me with that. Only the address and the name of the
Mr. Vaughn Alexander Sterling's POV After I had finished speaking with Mr. Kelvin, it was almost time for the experiment, so I decided to go to the laboratory so that I could meet up with them and see what they had for me.I got there some minutes before the time they gave me, and they had not yet arrived. I started thinking about it because I expected them to come a bit early so that we could do the experiment on time."Can someone tell me the reason why they are not here yet? It is almost noon, and there is no evidence of them coming," I said to one of the scientists that was close to me, as I was really confused and was doubting everything that treasure said to me.Advise that I exercise a little bit of patience and maybe wait till afternoon before I begin to conclude. I had to wait as he had told me and then try to focus on another thing.I was inside the lab when I started hearing the voices of the scientists discussing outside and also different voices there.I went out to
Mr. Vaughn Alexander Sterling's POV I went to bed early because I could no longer stand the anxiety, time was so slow, and I had almost a day left.Early the next morning, I woke up, and then I was happy that it was D-Day, and they would surely fulfill their promise.I went into the bathroom, and there I freshened up, forgetting that it was by noon and that if I began to prepare, I would spend a lot of time waiting for them to arrive and the experiment to begin. After taking my bath and brushing my teeth, I went to put on my clothes, still having the mindset that after the preparations, I would leave the house. After putting on my clothes and looking good, I decided to call Treasure on the phone to find out how the preparation was going over there and if they were already at the laboratory."Hello, Treasure the werewolf hunter, a beautiful morning to you," I said to him as he picked up the call.I could vividly remember that it was the name he called himself the first day he came
Vaughn Alexander Sterling's POV I was already beginning to lose interest in the whole werewolf stuff because it was as if I was being played by Treasure and his team.I have called him several times just to know what he was up to, but he kept me in the middle of nowhere. It was really annoying, and so I decided to stop calling and focus on my business and the other things I was working on.I did not call him; neither did I fund his account anymore because it was as if I was being duped. I had to mind my business and focus on the growth of my company. In the office one afternoon, I started getting a call from Treasure. At first, I did not want to pick up the call, but because I was still curious, if I was given the opportunity to know more about what he was doing, I would willingly accept without counting the number of disappointments. As I picked up the call, I changed my mood, as though I was not happy, and also the way I spoke to him was not friendly. I wanted to prove to
Marcie's POVAfter Carsen left me and the fashion designers, we went into my room so that I could see what they had for me.From the looks on his face, I knew that there was an issue and something was bothering him, but he was not panicking at all.He was really calm and spoke without stammering or showing that there was something wrong.I thought about it, but then I remembered that we would be going for a dinner date, and that was where he might get what he wanted for so long.He would be really nervous right now, and that was why he had to spend so much just for me to look good at the dinner date.I understood how he felt about it, and then I decided to comply and do everything just to please him, even though I knew that he had spent a lot, as I told him when they just arrived."Hello ma'am, we are from the Frozen fashion house, and we are here to make you look good, as your husband had told us to. We have some of our outfits here, which we thought you would love according to how h
Carsen's POVAs I got into my car with a fashion designer, I began to speed up as I did not want to get into a fight with that Hunter. I knew he would probably be following me so that he could attack me or do something crazy, but then I did not want to have anything to do with him; neither did I want to stalk him as he was doing to me. I knew that I had important things to attend to, and I also knew that capturing these hunters was one of the most important things on my list.I just had to overlook him and go for what I had to attend to because he was a distraction, and I might probably get into a fight with him as he wanted, and then everyone in the mall might see me as a monster. That was another thing he was trying to do because if he wanted to keep everything cool, he would not have started attacking me in such an open place."Sir, I hope you are okay now, because I noticed you were not alright when we went out to the mall. Please, if there is anything you need us to work on, I be
Treasure's POV "What can I offer you? I have food in the fridge, and I also have drinks. Do you mind me dishing out food for us to eat?" I asked Tracy K as we got inside the house."Well, I am not hungry right now, but anything you offer me, I will take it because I know that you will not let me leave without eating something," he responded to me, as he knew that I would always force him to eat, even though he said he was not hungry to eat anything in the house.I then went inside to dish out the food for us to eat. As I was inside the kitchen, I thought about our journey tomorrow, and then I knew that we had no issues because everything was being solved and the car, which would have been an issue, was already gotten.I knew that Tracy would do his part of the work, so I had nothing to worry about. It was just like me celebrating even before our victory. After dishing out the food, I went to the sitting room to call Tracy to come over so that they could eat, but then I saw that
