He moaned, the chestnut haired woman writhing beneath him, chanting his name in pure bliss.

“It should have been you,” she whispered sweetly, another cry of desire passing her beautiful lips. “Not him, you should have taken me. You should have told me to come to you.” Her words were musical. Beautiful. Everything he wanted to hear.

“I know, lass,” he breathed, stroking her cheek. He wanted her just as she was, beneath him, taking everything he could  give her. He could give her life, happiness, pleasure.

“But you didn’t,” she stated softly, her beautiful green eyes turning to sorrow, to pain.

“No…” He wanted that look on her face to disappear,

Luca crawled into bed, drawing Alissa towards him and sighing. It felt good to have her in his arms. Good for his body to hit the softness of a mattress. “Long day,” Alissa mumbled.“Yeah. Least Michael’s home for good now.”“True. Peta’s adorable.”“He is. We’ll have our own soon too.”“We will, will we?” She turned, quirking her eyebrow at him.“Only right. We’re mated. Pup comes next.”“Got it all worked out, eh Alpha?”“I mean… if you want. Tradition doesn’t override your wishes.”“Better. But… a little one of our own would be nice… just not yet. I want to enjoy you.” “Alright, gorgeous. So… a month?”She smacked his chest before they both burst into laughter. “Got some time tomorrow, what do you want to do?” He stroked his finger over her cheek. “Our place?”“Sounds good. Take some books.”“Perfect. Luca…?”“Yeah?”“I want to change my room into a nursery. For Peta.” “Good idea,” he whispered just before she drifted off to sleep. Alissa groaned, her head feeling fluffy and odd. She worked her thick tongue around her mouth that felt dryer than an overcooked chicken. Rubbing her eyes as they felt heavy and glued together trying to unstick them. Nothing felt right.Cracking an eye open she could barely make out where she was. It was light, bright like sunlight but the room was dark walled.A figure moved making her sit up, regardless of how she felt.“Easy, lass.” A hand on her shoulder had her struggling away.“Get off!”“Lass, it’s me, it’s Malachi,” a deep, Scottish laced voice announcedShe stilled. “Malachi? Everything was dark. He squinted, trying to see for a candle flame to ignite. He blinked, surprised by the shine. He couldn’t make out much though. Moving towards the candle did nothing, it never got closer, it never illuminated anything else. Just a stone wall. The sound of a whip cracked down, he spun, ducking on instinct but no pain lashed across his back. A pain filled groan filled the room though. He wanted to call out but there was something telling him to be silent. He stepped towards where he was sure he’d heard the groan only for his foot to go off a ledge. He felt his stomach jolting with the feeling before he landed in an unfamiliar forest. He felt he was seeing everything through a green lens, it all looked so strange and… green. Like vibrant, luminous green, even the floor, the trunks of the trees. Bright green. Like limes.

Malachi rolled his shoulders as his footsteps echoed down opulent hallways. He knew where he was going even without the wolf leading him. He’d been here many times, sometimes a visit, sometimes being summoned. Today… well. It was different. He inhaled deeply before stepping into a room, seven chairs lined up on a platform. As a pup he strived to be sat on one of those chairs one day, now, he had no wish. “Alpha McBayn, it’s a pleasure,” the High Lykos greeted. Malachi’s stomach rolled. Sure, a pleasure. “I come bearing the news that your… request,” he spat the word, “has been carried out.” He lowered his gaze a little, not really wishing to look at the men before him. But he couldn’t for long… he had to act within expectations.Expectations he always hated. He wished he was back on his boat. Away from all these shitty politics. Rufas frowned, “Request? What do you mean?” he asked.“Alpha Luca Wuffaman along with his pack have been removed,” Malachi swallowed the bile swirling in

Michael parked the car he’d borrowed, surprised the shed was empty. Regardless, he parked close to the wall to ensure there would be enough space when the other cars got back.Getting out of the car, a smell hit his nose, a smell he’d been smelling before he got home but that was his doing; his retribution. But this, this smelt stronger, like a lot more than two bodies. The idea had his feet hitting the dirt, jogging to the clearing. The smell got stronger, the stronger the smell the faster he moved, a chill down his back at the worst possible thoughts although he knew that couldn’t be right. The site that greeted him had him faltering a moment before he was tearing up the grass, towards the pack house. Windows had been put through, the door off its hinges.

Alissa looked to her bags and nodded. “It's going to be fine, we're going to love Canada.” Alissa suspected this was for her benefit as well as Peta's.“Intruder.” Malachi came into view. “You have to leave now, someone's coming” panic flooded through Alissa, she grabbed a bag as Michael dropped Peta to the floor and picked up the others. They threw the bags into the car and placed the pups into the back seats. Alissa heard a familiar voice shouting below, she ran to the stone bannister looking down towards the four men wrestling the new comer. Alissa gasped and ran down the stone steps, taking two at a time. She leapt into his arms, the wool blanket slipped from his shoulders as he wrapped his arms tightly around her waist supporting her weight. “Michael,” she breathed into his shoulder. “I thought you were dead.”“Close to it,” he muttered. They embraced like their lives depended on it, tears of relief streamed down their cheeks.“Get the man some clothes,” Malachi's voice barked behind them. Michael released Alissa, it was then she realised he was naked, she blushed and averted her gaze. He looked down to her, taking her in properly. “The baby,” he gasped, a panic

Alissa nursed her baby, she cooed down to him, his perfect tiny fingers gripped at her finger while he suckled. “Aunty, where's daddy?” Peta entered the room and sat at Alissa's feet.“He's keeping you safe little one, he loves you so much, come here.” She shifted her baby so Peta could climb on her lap.He peered up to her questioning, “I want daddy.” Tears welled in his emerald eyes.Alissa curled his chin length hair around her fingers. “I know, darling, he has to do his job though, but he has to keep us safe doesn't he? Or he wouldn't be a good wolf.” A large tear fell from Peta's eye. The little one had been very clingy recently.Maybe it was the birth of her and Luca’s little bundle of jo

I wish to listen to them all regarding their concerns but… please, tell me what happened. It couldn’t be real… but it sounded so real.Gasps erupted around them, from everyone, not just the council. A ripple of surprise spread from everyone.Michael grabbed her hand and she almost had the confidence to look up but didn’t. She couldn’t look, she didn’t want to confirm or deny it was his voice. • The Beta Killer    Chapter 132

The sun was warmer than it had been for months, the beginnings of spring poking through barren trees, dandelions budding within the dewy, luscious grass that looked inviting despite what the day was. Alphas, families, betas, and probably some others were sat, some on chairs, some on the grass, some had rolled up sleeping bags beneath them. It looked like any congregation when their packs came together but this felt very different. It felt wrong. It felt unjust.Alissa stood beside Michael on a slightly raised stage to the side, the white council house to their backs, the sun almost blinding them as it rose high above the trees. The council was assembled… All six of them were assembled (including Raoul much to her displeasure) at the front of the congregation. A congregation to mourn for her mate. Her pack, her nephew, her brother, her friends.

After getting changed, Alissa popped the wet, stained shirt on the arm of the sofa, unsure where to put it before sitting nervously. Her mind wasn’t really working properly, that was what it felt like. She felt she’d been given more information than she could process and arrange in her tired, dishevelled mind. There was a knock on the door and she was up off the sofa, taking long strides towards the door, “Yes, come in,” she called before she got to the door, wanting the door open.Michael stepped in, his hair as disheveled as his clothes. There were rings under his eyes and he looked just as bad as before he’d gone away… maybe worse. Alissa didn’t even give him time to look before she lunged at him, wrapping herself around him, clinging to his neck.&ldqu

Where was Alissa?“I’m going into the pack. I’m not sitting here like some prisoner,” Luca stated, a tiny rumbling growl through his words.“The pack member, Steve told us to stay here for safety,” Henry announced calmy.“He didn’t tell me.” Luca stood, he wasn’t some pup to be told to stay put. Fuck that.“I’ll be back soon,” he told the room, heading for the door.&ldq
