Aryan-

I was still reeling about my date with Kierian, the next day as I walked into my first class. Kierian was already sitting in his seat, with a wide smile when he looked up. Moving to my desk in the back corner, I saw a familiar brown paper sack on my desk.

Once I sat down, I pulled the bag toward me, while turning it around. The logo of the café I took him to yesterday was on the bag. Tilting the bag so I could see inside, I saw a few pastries that I enjoyed from the café.

“Good morning.” Kierian whispered as he leaned across the aisle.

“Good morning.” I smiled at him, but not before making sure that Brianna wasn’t in the room.

I knew that the more I spent time together with him, the more likely she would learn that we were on good terms. If possible, I was going to try to delay her learning of it. I mainly didn’t want her to cause more problems for me. To my relief, she didn’t show up for class.

“Want to eat together today, for lunch?” Kierian asked once class was over, and we

Aryan-After school, I went straight to the football field to do my homework. Instead of sitting at the top like I normally do, I sat on the bench that the football players use, at the edge of the field. During practice, the girlfriends of the football players sat there. While I wasn’t technically a girlfriend, I thought it would be the best way to prove to Kierian that I was all in. There was still the guilt of what I had done to him, up until recently but I also felt guilty for always blowing him off or avoiding him when others were around. It did feel a little weird sitting with the girlfriends, as they kept looking at me and whispering to each other.Focusing on my homework, I tried not to even glance up at Kierian as he practiced. It wasn’t until after I finished that I gained more attention, or at least noticed more. As I was placing my books in my bag, I saw the girls who were sitting on the same bench, staring at me.Trying to ignore them, I watched Kierian as ran across the f

Kierian-Finally, Aryan wasn’t pushing me away any longer. I could see she was still skittish, like she could bail at any moment. Trying to get close to her hasn’t been easy. I didn’t know what it was about her that seemed familiar, other than her name.Although I already established that she wasn’t the same girl I had known as a child. It bothered me last year, but it wasn’t until recently that I was able to approach her. She reminded me of a scared pup, lost in the wilderness, but still strong enough to take care of herself.Since crossing paths with her last year, I have been looking for the opportunity to create a chance to get to know her better. That wasn’t easy either. It seemed like she was determined to keep a safe distance from everyone.Mr. Benson was now my favorite person. When I heard about the assignment, I made sure to get Aryan on my team. Not only to create more opportunities for us but because I felt she needed protection. I didn’t know why she was even at Grandview

Kierian-I finished with my shower before Liam and Sylvie returned. When I returned to the living room, Aryan was sleeping on the couch, in a sitting position. I thought about waking her up, but she looked exhausted.Quietly stepping out of the living room, I went to the closet of my room. Grabbing an extra blanket that I had, I returned to the living room. Setting it aside, I gently helped her lay down on the couch, so she could be more comfortable. After she was lying down flat, I covered her with the blanket. Lowering myself to my knees, I couldn’t help but watch her sleep for a bit. She looked more beautiful now than she did when she was awake. There was a level of vulnerability that softened her edges. At the same time, I could see that the tough demeanor she usually showed was nothing more than a façade. It only made me want to protect her more than I already did. Reaching out, I was just about to touch her face, to brush away a stray strand of hair, but quickly pulled back when

Aryan-I knew bringing up my pack was risky, but the project could help me figure out what happened and even learn a thing or two about reviving Blackwood. As long as Kierian didn’t remember, I could keep my secret a secret. Most importantly, this would be a huge advantage to me.“So, it is settled, we use Blackwood as the focus point of our project?” I asked, while shifting my gaze back and forth, hoping I didn’t seem too eager.“Sounds like a good idea to me.” Liam shrugged as if he didn’t care one way or another.“I think it is a brilliant idea. There is nothing in the rules that says we can’t use a Pack that experienced a similar downfall. As long as we don’t use the actual Pack for the assignment, we should be good. It is exciting to be able to solve a mystery that has been floating around the school for the last year. I do think we need to run the idea by Mr. Benson though.” Sylvie leaned forward to grab another slice of pizza, but instead of eating it, she picked off the toppin

Kierian-Where was she? Aryan said she would be at practice after school. We were already half way through practice and she hadn’t arrived. All throughout practice I could barely focus. I had this feeling something was wrong.“Kierian!” Liam yelled out and just as I looked in his direction, another player was running toward me.I still had the ball in my hand, but even with my speed, it was too late to move out of the way. As he plowed into me, we both hit the ground hard. He quickly got up and started apologizing to me, but I didn’t get off the ground.“I am so-sorry.” The kid that hit me stuttered before quickly running away.Spreading my arms out, I looked up at the sky and realized I was in deep. I have never been caught off guard. Whatever Aryan had done to me, there was no doubt that I was head over heels for her. It didn’t make sense, considering that every time I was around her, I felt as if I didn’t know her.Her moods were about as shifty as a werewolf on a full moon. Even a

Kierian-A small step forward and then another. Each step I was worried that the kid holding Aryan would drop her. The roof was large, so even if I used my Lycan speed, I wouldn’t reach her in time to catch her before she fell to her death. Never did I care that she didn’t have an active wolf until this moment.Fear filled me to such a degree that every cell in my body was on edge. I had to think of something else, because I wasn’t sure if I would reach her before something bad happened. A thought occurred to me as I turned toward Sylvie.“Get down there and be ready to catch her.” I used the mental link that all Lycans shared with each other.Werewolves could also link with their own kind, but only if they were part of the same pack. This is why when some of the kids with Aryan went quiet, I wondered if they were of the same pack. Obviously, it paid to pay closer attention to those around me. Other than a few students, I haven’t bothered to learn anyone else's name.“I will get Liam

Aryan-I couldn’t tell them that I hadn’t known that I was going to survive the jump. I lied to them about having known what I was capable of. In all reality, that entire experience was a first for me. If I had said that I didn’t know what would happen, other than a feeling, they would have made it into a big deal.Moments before I decided to jump, I had felt something stir inside of me. Whatever it had been, had given me the idea to jump and reassured me that I would survive. It wasn’t a voice that I heard. It had merely been a feeling.I questioned it for only an instant before I felt as if I could trust it. It crossed my mind that maybe I was getting my wolf, but as soon as I hit the ground, that feeling had disappeared. Whatever was going on, I could vaguely remember that same feeling the night my parents died.“What are we going to do about them?” Liam asked, looking over at the students that had done Brianna’s dirty work, in an attempt to teach me a lesson.“Leave them.” Kierian

Aryan-By Friday afternoon, after I returned home from school, I was more nervous than when I asked Kierian if he wanted to come to my house for a meal with my family. Instead of staying after school, I went straight home. For nearly an hour, I went through my closet trying to decide what to wear. Normally wouldn’t stress about it, but he sees my uniform more than he sees me out of uniform.I never thought I would be the kind of girl who would change her clothes a million times before deciding on one, only to change it again due to being indecisive. Yet, here I stood, in front of my bedroom mirror, thinking about changing my clothes again. It wasn’t even about not being able to find anything cute to wear.My problem was that I didn’t know which one to show him. That didn’t even include the times I have done my makeup and washed it off, unable to decide if I stay natural or enhance my beauty. I ended up deciding to go for a light touch, to look natural, but also accentuate my appearanc

Aryan-Filled with raw and intense power, I could suddenly move again. Without hesitation, I kicked open the locker door. It felt like I was being swarmed with a tornado of wind. My hair blew wildly around me as I rushed toward Charlie.Instead of going straight for him, I moved past him slightly. Charlie’s eyes widened as I grabbed his wrist and twisted. I heard his bone snap as Kierian fell from his grasp. Without pausing, I wrapped my arms around Kierian and moved him to the far end of the hall.It wasn’t until I placed Kierian on the ground that I realized I had shifted into my Lycan form without realizing it. Just like the day at the hospital when I saved everyone, I touched my hand to Kierian’s chest to transfer my energy to him. He gasped as his eyes widened, and he jolted upright.Hearing something crackle behind me, I twisted around to see Charlie transforming into a beast I had never seen before. It was like he was part werewolf and something else entirely. His eyes were red

Aryan-“Are you okay?” Kierian was instantly at my side when I reached the basement.I struggled to remain upright, but I could feel my injuries already starting to heal. “I am fine. We need to figure out a different way to take him out. If you hadn’t seen, I couldn’t match his speed. His movements were too fast for me to get a single hit in.”“It might help if you shift into Lycan form.” Kierian suggested.“I tried, but he was relentless in his attacks.” I sagged onto a chair that Slater pushed toward me.“You haven’t been a Lycan for long, so it is understandable if you can’t shift in an instant whenever you want. We worked on things but never practiced shifting when under attack.” Slater stepped beside Kierian as he spoke.“I could shift down here and go up, but there isn’t a large enough passage. Maybe if I come out of hiding but stay distant from him, I could shift before attacking?” I looked between Kierian and Slater.“It could work, but…” Slater began.“You can’t risk exposing

Aryan- I tried not to think about Maize and Dexter for the rest of the weekend. I quickly realized my mistake the next day when we heard they had taken my warning and packed quickly. They left the house, and there were no signs of them anywhere. I know I shouldn’t have warned them. Slater made me realize I was likely in shock and had not thought things through. The Alpha King assured me they wouldn’t get away, but that didn’t make me feel better. I just hoped I didn’t make any mistakes when meeting Charlie today. The weekend had gone by in a blur, but I now had to focus. Standing outside, where Charlie was supposed to meet his son, I was extremely nervous. Kierian didn’t like the idea of me going alone, but I felt it was the only way to get Charlie to fall into our trap. He still didn’t like it, but I agreed to let him be close by just in case. Staying out of sight, I kept glancing at my phone to check the time. A few minutes before the agreed-upon time, I saw Charlie had arrived.

Aryan-Looking at the open folder, tears formed in my eyes as I saw a letter addressed to me from my father. Blinking away the tears, I picked up the first paper with shaky hands. It took a while for my eyes to focus, but I began to read aloud when they did.“My lovely daughter Aryan, I know this might come as a surprise to you, seeing as I failed to keep everyone safe. I know you thought highly of me and believed I could take on the world, but I am not a superhero. Since you are reading this, it means I failed to stop the evil that has been brewing for years. My most trusted Beta, Charlie, has betrayed me. I thought I could give him the benefit of the doubt when I started noticing things, but as it turned out, I was wrong. I didn’t realize how bad he was until it was too late. Your mother was also aware of this, but now that you are reading this, I know she didn’t survive. I hope that you can take care of your brother for us.”I stopped reading for a moment as I let out a strangled s

Aryan-While we waited for the witches to arrive, I worked on getting everyone set up. The girl, who hadn’t been subjected to being in wolf form, was known as Maddie. She was surprisingly very mature for her age. She helped find things for everyone since she was the one who knew her Pack the most.By the time we found a place for everyone, I was surprised to find out that the majority of her Pack were teachers, doctors, business owners, and so forth. Now, all we had to do was turn them back into humans. It was a good start. With people who could help rebuild the Pack, it made my life a little less complicated. The witches were due to arrive the following morning. We still had a few days before we needed to worry about Charlie. With an entire weekend, I wasn’t sure what to do.For the most part, the school was prepared for the final battle. All the teachers and students had finished reviewing everything, and Slater ran us through everything before we left. Slater said he would come by

  • The Bet and the Lycan Prince   Chapter 67

Aryan-The following day, we skipped school to go to the Pack, where the Lycans disappeared. We weren’t sure how long we would need to deal with the situation. We didn’t know if it would be another situation, like when we were in Louisiana. It wasn’t a long drive, as it only took us an hour and a half to arrive. We didn’t know what to expect when we arrived, but this hadn’t been it. It looked like we pulled into a ghost town. The buildings looked like they were barely standing. Most had been burned, while a few looked like they had partially bulldozed.Only a few buildings remained, but even they looked like they had seen better days. Kierian stopped the car in the middle of the road, but no one got out. This time, we were in a large SUV since there were five of us, and we didn’t see the point in taking two vehicles. If not for the fact that we could sense others, we would have thought we had come to the wrong place. I also sensed the presence of another Lycan, but it was faint. Looki

Aryan- Over the next few days, we went through special training with Slater. Everyone, including the teachers, worked together to learn about the underground bunker until we all knew it by heart. We learned where every entrance was, including the hidden ones. I was surprised when one of the locations was inside my locker. Everyone was given a communication device and a suit to wear, which we were required to always wear just in case there was an attack. We didn’t think Charlie would show up yet since we didn’t know where he was. I still had to figure out a way to get him to come here. After school, me, Kierian, Connor, Liam, and Sylvie tried to learn more about the Pack that Connor and I visited. It took us a few days, but we managed to locate the Alpha that oversaw the Pack. He was a few years older than we were, so at least we thought it would be easy to talk with him. His name was Aaron, and he seemed nice. I wasn’t sure why he turned his Pack into a tourist spot, but that wasn’

Aryan-Once the students and teachers were in the auditorium, Kierian started telling the students what was going on. I was amazed at how flawless he was as he spoke. It was like he spent months practicing. With how his presence filled the room, I knew he was going to be an excellent leader.Unlike me, he didn’t stumble with his words. He got straight to the point. Everyone sitting in the auditorium was giving him their full attention. None of them blinked as he spoke or attempted to interrupt him. They looked eager even as they waited for him to finish.Everything I had told the teachers, he basically said the same, except in fewer words and with more confidence. When every student agreed to go through the testing to be able to help, I didn’t know why I was surprised. No one asked questions or doubted him, but that goes to show he was a well-respected future Alpha. From the front row of seats, Mr. Slater motioned for me to go to the exit door, that was left of the stage. We met by th

Aryan-Monday morning, I was a mess. I was fairly sure I had dark bags under my eyes that developed an hour after school started. I was nervous, and my fingernails have looked better, but I chewed them off as I kept circling the conference room, where the meeting would be held.Yesterday, I had everything planned out about what I would say to the teachers, but now it was like my mind was blank. I was rethinking my plan to get them involved. The only teacher I knew was on my side, was Mr. Slater, but that was a given. He was the only teacher that had arrived. While he sat in one of the many chairs around the oval table, I circled around the room. Kierian, Connor, Liam, and Sylvie sat in chairs along the wall, appearing to be completely confident.“You are going to burn a hole in the rug if you keep doing what you are doing.” Slater chuckled.“Easy for you to say, all of you look like this is just another Monday. You aren’t the ones about to ask innocent people to join you on a possible
