“Pak!’
Her hands went to his face in a sudden slap. Rufus touched his face, but it didn’t move him, as if the man were made of stone. His eyes dilated and changed color from black to a golden hue. He growled, and she instantly stepped back. She swayed a little; she wasn’t feeling well today, but she ignored it. She started to feel weak, but her adrenalin, due to anger, was keeping her to stay focus on the situation at hand.
Everleigh was also surprised by her sudden reaction. She took a series of deep breaths to calm herself and closed her eyes as she waited for the blow from Rufus palm, but it didn’t come. She opened her eyes and saw the amused face of Rufus.
"I like how you've changed, baby" he smirked.
“We are in a dire situation right now, but I am not the woman you think I am. I cannot accept your offer. I never imagined that Rujan’s brother was as despicable as you! ," she said and ran.
Upon reaching the room given to her, she started packing. The boys are still in the nursery playing. Before she could go to the nursery, her phone started ringing. She answered immediately, thinking it was Rujan.
“You can’t escape me, bitch. I will kill you and your boys.”
“Who are you? Why are you doing this to us? Where did you get my number?" She asked, shouting. She felt so desperate that she cried, but the person hung up on her. She fell to the ground and cried. Then her eyes flew open when she remembered Rujan. She called him, but his phone was turned off.
Her heart started beating so fast when she realized that their enemy never called her number. Only Rujan knew her number. Something happened to Rujan, and the enemy got her number. She suddenly rose from the carpeted floor, and her world started spinning. Before darkness encompassed her, her knees started shaking, and before she fell to the ground, someone caught her.
She opened her eyes and felt that she was aching all over. She also felt cold, and her throat was dry. Damn! She got sick. She hated being sick, and she didn’t want to get sick, particularly in her situation. Rufus gasped her name and saw him rush toward her. She lifted her head and tried to speak, but her shuddering made her speech ramble like a growl.
“Damn! We need to get her to the infirmary or to the hospital! He shouted at the old man who was checking on her. “She’ll be okay here, Alpha, but if you insist...” the man said calmly.
He immediately scooped her up. Her head rolled listlessly before dropping on his shoulder. She heard him yell for Whitton and headed somewhere. The servants came running in, and Rufus turned and barked orders to them, but Everleigh's muddled mind heard only a jumble of words.
She was taken to a room and placed on a bed with white linen. He was bending over her, this time taking her clothes. Still shaking with cold, she whimpered and fought weakly to keep them over her, thinking he meant to punish her for refusing him.
"Let me, my love," he said hoarsely.
"We need to lower your body temperature, baby.” Her fingers relaxed their grip, and she lay unresisting as he unfastened her dress and slid it from her shoulders and down her body. Then once more she was wrapped in the bedcovers. Heather felt a hand placed to her brow, and its coolness was heavenly.
She opened her eyes slowly to look at Rufus, but it was not he who stood above her with his hand on her brow. It was her father. "Everleigh Nova Hearst," he coaxed. "Finish your meal like a good girl, or papa will not be happy."
"But I do not like it, papa."
"How do you think you will grow into a beautiful lady if you do not eat? You are much too thin for a child of seven."
The vision blurred and cleared again. "I will replace Amelia Papa."
He cried. "I’m so sorry, sweetheart; I failed you and your mother. This is my family’s fault, and Amelia...”
“I want my sister to be happy, Papa. I will replace her.”
She watched his receding back, and her bottom lip quivered and her eyes filled.
A beautiful woman appeared, her golden eyes were blazing with fury, like a rabid wolf.
“You are a lowly human; Rufus will always choose me, not you.”
“I am pregnant.”
“I will kill you, so Rufus will be mine completely.”
The heat was unbearable. She thrashed about to escape it. Something cool and wet slid over her body again and again with a slow, unhurried motion. She was turned by strong yet gentle hands, and her back was exposed to the cooling caresses.
“Rujan?”
"Why does someone want me dead? I can’t remember anything.”
“Because you are a threat to their greed.”
“I don’t know, why? And who? ”
“Don’t stress yourself, sweet; I will protect you with my life.”
She opened her eyes and saw Rufus holding a wet, cold towel. “Protect my children, Rufus. I’ll die if something happens to them.”
“I won’t let anyone hurt you or my sons, baby. Rest. I will take care all of you from now on.”
The forest were cold with old trees with moss, and she laughed as she ran from the person behind her. She was caught and swung upward in sturdy arms, and laughing gaily, she looped her arms about the man's neck in gleeful surrender, and his face pressed close as he bent to kiss her.
A scream was torn from her as she saw the face. His eyes were red, and he was salivating. “I want to taste pregnant humans before I kill them. You are the mate of an alpha, and you’ll be my trophy. I will preserve the fetus as my trophy and will take you many times as long as I want. Your skin is so soft, and I want to take you now.”
“Please, please, don’t kill my babies.”
The man laughed like the devil and started taking off his pants, but Rujan came and hit the man on the head with an iron. “Come now, Everleigh, hurry!"
They ran and ran...
She was being drawn down into a peaceful, peaceful darkness. She floated, she glided, she swayed, and a mist rolled upward around her and consumed her. Rujan disappeared.
Everleigh opened her eyes and saw the ceiling. She lay unmoving for a moment, trying to recall what had happened. She was dreaming of something she couldn’t remember. She moved slightly and winced. She felt bruised, as if every inch of her had been beaten, and she was so weak. She turned her head on the pillow and saw Rufus. He was asleep on a couch.
Rufus looked so gaunt. There were dark circles under his eyes, and his hair was badly mussed and disheveled. Strangely, he was always groomed and perfectly handsome. She wondered how could a man was so neat like him. Her frown deepened as her eyes went around the unfamiliar room. It looked like a hospital. Is there a private hospital in his castle?
With a painful effort, she rose on an elbow, and instantly Rufus eyes flew open. He hurried toward the bed but slowed when she looked up at him with sanity in her eyes. He smiled broadly and came to sit down on the edge of the bed.
He reached to feel her brow. "The fever is gone," he said, as if in relief.
"What has happened?" she asked softly.
"I feel so tired, and I ache all over. Did I fall?" He smoothed her hair from her face. "You've been sick, baby, since yesterday."
Everything was a flurry of confusion for her. More than a day has gone by. It seemed like a few hours. Then she remembered his offer. Her eyes widened.
“The boys are okay; they visited you while you were sleeping,” he said.
“I had a bad dream, but I can’t remember it,” she said.
“Don’t stress yourself; take a rest.”
“But you offered me...”
He smiled tenderly and touched her cheek. “My offer still stands, but I won’t force you, baby. Your safety is my primary concern.”
She grinned and thanked him.
“I will do anything to convince you, though,” His lips quirked devilishly.
“What do you mean? ”
She gasped when she realized the meaning of what he said. “You’re going to seduce me!”
Everleigh was transferred to the master’s bedroom the day after she woke up. She protested, but Rufus ignored her. He was acting like an overprotective husband over his fragile wife. She hated being in bed, and Rufus hovered over her like a hen.She sat, and he was already in front of her, assisting her. He brought his work inside his room and found him beside her sleeping. He didn’t try to seduce her or anything, but his care was making her sway. “I will go to the bathroom,” she said, rolling her eyes.Without a word, Rufus scooped with his one hand while the other hand dragged the IV fluid handle. “Put me down, Rufus; I am not invalid. It was just the flu!" He put her down on the toilet seat, and she looked at him in exasperation. She wasn't used to this kind of intimacy, particularly with strangers, but she had a feeling that Rufus was not a stranger. His scent was so familiar that when she smelled it, something within her stirred
Everleigh was left in bewilderment. Her life was turned upside down in a matter of minutes because of the revelation. She knew a little about Rufus; Rujan spoke of him in a limited way, and she didn’t pry, though the animosity between the two of them was obvious.Rufus was famous in the business world, and he was on the front cover of the famous magazine last year and was interviewed a few times. Seeing him in person was different. His personality was striking and intimidating. The business world considered him ruthless in his dealings. Some articles even insinuate that his other resources came from the underworld. Though the world knew that the Griswolds were ancient with old money, she went to the balcony and watched her boys play with their father on the field. They were happy and carefree. She never saw them this happy. They were always cautious, and they matured at an early age. Her heart breaks when she realizes how much they missed in their lives. Kids are supposed to be playing
“We cannot tell the boys about you; they’ll get confused. They’re too young to understand our complicated relationship. They grew up with Rujan, and he was such a good father to them,” she said as she inspected the DNA test result. She asked him after they tucked the triplets into bed.“You underestimated our children, baby, but I’ll go with your plan. I don’t want to pressure you right now. I already have their affection. My alpha blood is stronger than anyone.”“What's with the alpha thing? Are you some kind of a cult leader? "She gasped as her imagination ran wild and connected it to the thriller movies she watched.Rufus chuckled at her absurdity. “What are you thinking? Tell me I could handle it even if it was the most absurd thing I’d hear.”“I’m thinking about blood sacrifices,” she answered.Rufus laughed again, and Whitton looked at them as if he were pleased that his master was laughing. “That was awful, but we hold ceremonial mating here. It was our tradition for centuries.
“Why are you here? Are you not feeling well? ”Rufus asked as he touched her forehead. She just shook her head and ignored him. “Your father and your sister left. They promised to visit you again,” he said. “He’s not my real father; he’s my stepfather, and Amelia is my younger half-sister. Why didn't you tell me such an important thing? ", she accused. “Because Edward may not be your father, but you loved him, and he adored you like a real father. You loved Amelia too, in fact...” He stopped and frowned. “How did you know this? Did you happen to recall some of your memories? ” “Yes,” she lied. “Amelia was the one for you, not me. I don’t understand why we had a relationship before if you like Amelia. ” “What are you talking about? ” “I ran away because you cheated on me,” she concluded, looking at his eyes directly to confirm what she had said. Rufus didn’t say a word; he just looked at her with this familiar look on his face. He was like Rujan when he wasn't telling the truth and
Everleigh dreamed of sending her children to school, but she didn’t expect that she would also come back to school. The boys were very excited. They woke up early and prepared their things for school. Rufus didn’t miss the opportunity to help them get their things done and assist them with their breakfast. She let him; she could see the joy in his face while helping them. She chose to wear cream slacks and a shirt. They looked like a happy family together. A limo was parked in the front yard, waiting for them. She saw three black luxury cars parked behind the limo. The boys were well behaved during the 15-minute drive to their school. Rufus took her hand and raised his brow when he noticed it was cold. She was nervous. He didn’t say a word, but was surprised when he pulled her close to him and kissed her temple.“Everything will be okay, baby, trust me.” She just nodded and made a deep sigh. The security opened the door for them, and she was surprised when the director, faculty, and s
Everleigh watched the expression played on her ex-boyfriend; she didn’t even know the name. He wasn’t afraid of Rufus, like everyone she met. Why? He has a devil-may-care attitude and a stellar smile. Vikings have gold hair, a hawkish nose, and fair skin. This person in front of them appeared to be one. She could feel his similar personality with Rujan. So, this is the kind of man she preferred before? She asked herself silently, but she was cut off harshly when Rufus glared at her. “I’m sorry, but I needed to be in class,” she said, smiling awkwardly.“Yes, see you there,” the man said, winking at her and nodding at Rufus once again before he left. She wanted to know the name of her ex-boyfriend, but Rufus was in a black mood.“I’ll send you to your class,” Rufus offered again.“I can manage myself,” she insisted."You were just out of my sight for a minute, and I found you in the arms of another man,” he growled.“I was taken aback; I didn’t even know the name of the man who happene
Everleigh was suddenly left alone. She stood, leaning on the wall, because she felt that her knees would buckle any minute. It was very obvious that Rufus was possessive. She ran away from him because she was suffocated by his possessiveness. She slowly walked towards the chair and sat there, confused by her emotion and her body’s reaction toward Rufus’ touch. Her classmates started to come in. She was relieved and, at the same time, nervous. They were only ten in their class, and she was the only female. She was introduced by their professors, and not one of them dared gaze at her openly, as if it were a sin to look at her. She wanted to have friends, but how? Rufus would turn into a raging wolf if she made friends with them and didn’t like it.To her surprise, the knowledge flowed into her mind as if she knew it. One more class before lunch, and she was again surprised when her ex-boyfriend came in. He looked at her, and he quirked his lips upon seeing her sitting in front.“For the
Everleigh stepped into Rufus' office in awe. Cutting-edge technology impeccably merges with elegant design. He was sitting on his desk, equipped with touch-sensitive surfaces, holographic displays, and integrated charging stations. The boys were sleeping sprawled on the huge couch, their toys scattered on the carpeted floor. He was reading some files and didn’t look up, but he knew she was there. The office has voice-activated assistants, smart climate control, and augmented reality conferencing systems that transform the office into a command center of innovation. It looks like his office is proof of staying ahead in the digital age, where technology becomes a continuous extension of control. How did she know these things? Among other things she saw in Moon Valley, this office seemed familiar to her. Why? Rufus looked at her intently. She wanted to ask about this office. “How’s the boys? ” Different words came out of her lips.“They’re tired, and I told them to go to sleep. They were
The summer sun bathed the villa in a warm, golden glow, casting soft reflections on the azure waves beyond the balcony. Everleigh stood quietly, her hands resting on the wooden railing as she watched her children playing in the garden below. Their sons, now in middle school, were magnets for giggling girls who lingered at the edges of the estate, daring one another to get closer. Meanwhile, their daughters, fierce and passionate, sparred energetically in the courtyard, their movements fluid and precise. Rujan and Richard stood nearby, grinning proudly as they gave pointers, their laughter ringing through the air.A warm pair of arms suddenly encircled her waist from behind, pulling her into a familiar embrace. She didn’t need to look to know it was Rufus. His presence, his strength, and his scent—a heady mix of cedarwood and something distinctly his—wrapped around her like a cocoon. He pressed his lips to her temple, his voice a low rumble against her ear.“How are you feeling, my love
The gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore was accompanied by the warmth of the sun overhead as Rufus and Everleigh lounged on the pristine beach. Everleigh reclined on a cushioned chaise, her eyes closed, soaking in the serenity of the moment. Rufus, shirtless and bronzed by the sun, was lying beside her, a contented smile playing on his lips as he watched her.Their peaceful moment was interrupted when Whitton approached, his expression apologetic but professional. “Forgive me, Alpha,” he said with a small bow. “Mrs. Warner is in the living room. She wants to talk to you about her husband.”Rufus sighed deeply, his brow furrowing slightly. “Mrs. Warner?” he muttered, clearly not thrilled by the intrusion. Then he turned to Everleigh, his tone softening. “Come with me, love.”Without opening her eyes, Everleigh shook her head. “No, you handle that woman. I want to stay here,” she replied, her tone
The tense air in the ceremonial hall thickened as two more individuals were brought forward—a human male and a she-wolf, both trembling under the weight of their punishment. The human, Juan Pablo, stood tall but pale, his expression a mix of defiance and fear, while the she-wolf beside him kept her head bowed, her hands clenched into fists. The Queen Luna, ever poised and commanding, fixed her gaze upon them. “You,” she began, her voice sharp and clear, echoing through the chamber, “dared to bring a human into the sacred ceremony, violating the absolute rule. You have betrayed not only your mate but also the sanctity of this ritual.”Everleigh’s heart thudded in her chest as she watched. She had been captivated earlier by the Queen Luna’s grace and authority, but now, as she witnessed justice unfold, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of pity for the pair. She leaned closer to Rufus, whispering, “Is there a dungeon i
Draped in a flowing champagne-colored one-shoulder gown that shimmered subtly under the ceremonial lights, Everleigh sat poised beside Rufus, her fingers lightly brushing his arm. The ceremony unfolded before them, rich with tradition and grandeur. Earlier, they had attended Theo and Savannah’s heartfelt union, where the couple had worn elegant silver attire—a nod to their purity and commitment. Now, they watched as the royal Luna Queen and Alpha King, resplendent in striking red, black, and gold garments, presided over the sacred blood ritual. Their regal presence exuded authority, their movements deliberate and commanding. The air was thick with solemnity, the weight of centuries-old tradition palpable. Everleigh’s wide, curious eyes drank in every detail, her fascination evident. The Queen’s ceremonial gown glimmered like embers, its gold threading catching the flickering light of the ceremonial fires, while the Alpha King’s cape billowed dram
Everleigh felt Rufus stiffen beside her, his grip tightening on her waist. He pulled her closer, shielding her as his eyes darkened dangerously. A deep growl rumbled from his chest, low and menacing, as Lander’s gaze swept over her and lingered far too long on the curve of her figure beneath the silk robe. The growl was enough to ignite the gathering. Wolves snarled, their hackles rising in unison, a collective warning that echoed in the clearing. Everleigh instinctively leaned into Rufus, her pulse quickening as the tension grew.Rufus’s voice, sharp and commanding, cut through the noise. “Keep your eyes off my mate,” he snarled at Lander, his tone leaving no room for argument.Lander’s face flushed, a mixture of defiance and unease flashing in his eyes. Alice grabbed his arm, her expression tight with frustration as she tried to pull him back.“What are they doing here?” Everleigh whispered to Rufus, her voice laced with confusion. “I thought the royals
The moonlight bathed the playground of wolves in a silvery glow, casting long shadows across the glistening grass. Inside the secluded tent, Everleigh’s world was reduced to the wolf before her—Dark, her mate, her everything. His body, powerful and unyielding, moved against hers, their connection an exquisite symphony of need and love. His arousal stirred to life inside her, swelling, shifting, sending electrifying waves of pleasure coursing through her body. She gasped, her head falling back as her senses lit up, every nerve attuned to the intensity of his presence.“Yes,” he murmured, his voice a low, guttural promise as his dark lashes lifted, revealing the smoldering beauty of his gaze. His eyes held hers, raw and honest, as he pressed deeper, his body demanding what she was all too willing to give. “I’m staying inside you all night,” he said, his voice velvet-soft but commanding, each word a vow.H
The tent’s interior was bathed in the soft, golden glow of lantern light, the flicker creating dancing shadows against the fabric walls. Outside, the wild symphony of the mating wolves echoed—the snarls, yowls, and growls blending into a primal soundtrack that filled the night air. But inside the tent, they were in their own world, oblivious to the chaos beyond the canvas.Rufus sat on the edge of the large, plush bedding, his eyes never leaving her as she stood before him, bathed in the soft light that highlighted every curve of her body. Everleigh’s dress was already slipping from her shoulders, the fine clothes cascading like a whisper of silk down her arms. Her cheeks were flushed, her breaths uneven as his warm hands found her skin.“These,” he murmured, his voice deep and reverent, his hands sliding the fabric away completely to reveal her full breasts, heavy and flushed with her arousal. He cupped them with a tenderness that made he
The Alpha King smiled warmly at Everleigh. “Theo will be here soon. He’s been dying to see you,” he announced. “He’s bringing Savannah, his mate. You’ll like her,” Shanna added with a wink, her violet-blue eyes twinkling with amusement. “But for now, we’ll leave you to rest. Alpha Sixto and his daughter have arrived, and they’re in another receiving area.”Everleigh was about to respond when the Alpha King gestured to the staff. “We’ve prepared something special for you, Luna. I hope you enjoy it.” Moments later, two trays laden with food arrived, each dish more enticing than the last. Everleigh’s eyes lit up at the sight of delicate pastries, fragrant soups, and perfectly arranged fruit platters. “Oh, this looks amazing,” she said, her excitement evident as she reached for a small tart. Before she could take a bite, the door opened. Everleigh turned, her curiosity piq
“It’s been a long time since you visited Red Island,” the Alpha King began, his voice rich and calm as he studied Rufus. He leaned back in his chair, exuding a sense of effortless authority.“Yes,” Rufus replied with a respectful nod. “I’ve been busy finding my lost mate. Now that I’ve found her—and our triplets—I’ll be visiting Red Island more often.”The Alpha King’s sharp gray eyes glimmered with approval. “A family changes everything,” he said. “You’ve done well, Rufus. Perhaps on your next visit, you’ll consider using our facilities for your mate and pups. Red Island has some of the most sophisticated hospitals in the world, with exceptional doctors and healers—wolves who have been perfecting their craft for centuries.”Everleigh’s brows rose in mild surprise, and she tilted her head. “Healers?” she asked. “What kin
