"Exactly, how do we get out now Kerik?" Mona asked. "You said we had it under control." She continued, reminding me of the escape I'd promised them.

"Yes. Of course." I prepared to start explaining all the crazy plans that I'd thought up earlier, hoping I was right about the idea, until I became rudely interrupted by a loud but quick force on the gates and the next thing I knew, I was already outside the gates. Mona and Lily behind me.

"Whoa! What just happened?" Mona asked. I saw them again after so long. Both wearing a long black dresses like it was a funeral night, with green big beads round their necks. Lily rushed forward to me and squeezed her arms tight round me. "I've missed you." She whispered in my ears and it wasn't until then before I wrapped my hands around her to hug her. She let go of me, letting Mona advanced forward too to take turn into squeezing me also. As if that wasn't enough, Lily forced herself on Mona again, still

Just as if my instinct spoke, I found myself in the sight of him. Fortem wasn't with me, so I wondered how I could even still manage to magically transport myself. But all that didn't mattered. I was there with him already. I only hoped Mona and Lily made it safely. I figured he didn't know I was already behind him, because he seemed to be too busy with whatever mischievous he was doing and his back faced me, but as soon as I still continued with my doubting, his cold face turned to me and my heart stopped for a minute. "Hello again," and with that, I found myself fly through thin air with my back suddenly crashing into what later seemed to be a barrel, ripping it to pieces just as my whole body had been torn apart. My head hit something really hard and sent an excruciating, torturous pain to my whole body. Before I even got the time to begin calculating how it had happen, I saw another big barrel travelling towards my side and without further reasoning, my brain dived my

"So, what do we do now?" I heard Mona's voice called from behind. What was left there to do? He was gone. Not dead, but gone. His powers had been stripped off of, but I knew it wasn't the end. He would still return."The only thing left to do. To-" then it seemed as if the relief of the whole world's stress that was somehow placed on my shoulders, had been lifted off. Like you were free to relax, to take a break. And with one final word; "I-", I fell flat on the ground with the company of the hard surface, designing my face with more bruises at the forceful impact with the floor. Damn! Those softball cheeks of mine were going to hurt by the time I woke up."And you're sure you're feeling alright, your majesty?" A stout man that was later introduced to me as the royal guard, questioned again making it the fourth time he'd asked. And to my outmost surprise, it didn't hurt one bit the moment I wok

The atmosphere that night emitted a strange kind of feeling that left you in the middle with the feeling of terror, excitement and sadness. It was so difficult to explain, but all I knew was that it wasn't a pleasant feeling. Darkness crept out as I peeped through out the window. Not quite the hot dark of embers, but a soft, hopeful dark. The dark that comes just before the sunrise, that kind that helps the orange and gold blossom across the sky, like a small flower trembling open in spring. Its strange essence encouraged me to fall asleep as I closed my eyes, tossing and turning in a futile attempt to slip away into the depths of unconsciousness, blissfully unaware. But there I was, looking out my bedroom window face to face with the violent beast. How silly had I been thinking that I would lay peacefully like I did the night before, as I pronounced my bed as my safe place, my haven. As I'd snuggle intothe duvet like a happy cat in the sunlight, ready for my st

"So what news have you bring me? Tell me it's good." I queried Mona as we had tea over on the dining table. Ever since those mad keepers left the palace with their soldiers, they'd been bad news upon bad news. First, I realized I could now save the septic, though I wondered if I could have always cured them from the start or maybe I only could because of the devil's disappearance. Or maybe even because of the fact that I'd received Lilith's blessings, as of recent, we couldn't even tell whether the devil was permanently banished or dead, or was still somewhere hiding in the corners. But something told me he was till very much alive due to the fact that I still had vivid visions about another war with him. Then, I realized that we were already running low on supplies and the villagers would soon start staving. So many problem were arising in the fickle of time."Well, the Northern villagers refused to supply us grains.""What! We need those grains. R

"Not yet, your majesty." She scrutinized, as she plastered a half-smile at me. Maybe waiting to confirm whether I would flare up and finally either punch her right in the place that would hurt, or roar in anger and consume the souls of them all. I only returned a false smile to her as a reply. Not the obvious type that showed the tremendous effort in the making of the smile, but the kind that contoured the pretence in the smile. She wasn't supposed to see me getting upset because I wasn't upset with her at all. She wasn't supposed to feel a tiny percentage of my transferred rage."But, Kerik?" Mona called, and my heart nearly sank. She shot a piercing look at me and smiled with teary eyes. I almost bursted out into tears but quickly calmed myself and tried assuring my mind that it wasn't really my fault. I was fixing this. "You said you had a dream about how we could save Ragnila, and your sister as well. And Lavi. How... How do we save them exactly?"

"I'm sorry that I haven't been the best of a leader to you all." I sniffed before each words, before controlling myself to try and limit the tears from coming down my eyes. But as I tried more and more from stopping those eyes from watering further, the pool of tears proved to be stronger than all the power left in me. I couldn't control myself, as the pain weakened all the nerves in my body, leaving crying as the only option left to do. "I tried so much, but she's not here. I miss her so so much.""I know. I know you do." Mona agreed. She sniffed in the last bit of what seemed to be hurt and smiled calmly. I had no other choice than to wipe away those hurting tears as well, and focus truly on what mattered at the moment. Friends. Family. "So, what signs did you observed?""Well, it was unlike Tara to had spoken the way that she did." I shared my suspicion and ambled back to my seat. They both flashed a dazzled glare at me and studied me as I sat do

She smiled after observing the still silent that remained on my face. "Kerik, you need to connect to the people, otherwise, they'll only hate you and fear you. At least, let them love and fear you. Those two, they're different you know." Back then, Mona said the most reasonable thing I'd ever heard anyone told me before. She was completely right because all I wanted was the happiness for these people. I deeply want to be a good queen, to save lives. Also, I knew I couldn't do it alone. So I needed to be the voice for these people, to be able to speak for them and get supports from the armies."I deeply understand what you're trying to say. But I am not throwing a ball. At least not now." I declared."You could throw a feast too." Lily suggested."Maybe. Though for now, I want to fix this issue of saving those infected with the plague." I said, and they both agreed with my decision with a gentle nodding. "Then, I need to co

"Hold your attack! It's the Royal Highness of this kingdom." I tried defending myself, but instead she took another step forward and dragged my hair up, twisting my neck to turn against my will, facing my face to the screeching sun. "Ow!" I instantly felt a strand of my hair, tugged out. "Stop it, or face my wrath and perish-" I immediately stopped at the pathetic threat after remembering the words of Mona, advising me not to depend on my power all the time while dealing with the villagers. With that thought, I threw my dangling hands to locate her waist, but my hands found moving extremely difficult at the moment, since I just had to twist my wrist over to where her stomach was, and even if I achieved at that, I couldn't punch her in that uncomfortable position. She mumbled some words that sounded like, "Stey put, will yau?" Or something like that, and drove more effort into completely breaking NY neck in two. Left with the second option in my head that didn't really needed my hand

The tone in her voice alerted nothing but one sense. Danger. I had endangered the lives of others because of my foolish pride. I could have walked away politely, and save others. Tara. But leaving the devil to reign did not fully assure me that my family and friends would be saved."This is your last chance Kerik." She added, then paused. Waiting for me to fully accept to the proposal. My mind raced over a million things. What if I choose this option, and defeating the devil seems more impossible than I'd expect. Then I would never forgive myself. If only I could get more time, more days to puzzle over the prodigious decision. But even if I was opportune to that kind of indulgence, I feared my answer would still remain constant."Yes. That's what I choose. This is what feels best to me, so I've made up my mind." Sir Ayer was dead. Dead! Nobody knew who killed him. No. Everyone pretended like they didn't know his killer. A logical thing to do,if you didn't want to become next. A coward. That was what everybody became. But I wasn't ready to turn into one. I might be sweet, nice and ready to abide to every rules and regulations, but the demon inside me was only sleeping. Not dead. There's just the body, but no life in it.Charging grumpily to the gates of hell, well it wasn't scary at all. I felt no fear,on the contrary all that cluttered up in my lifeless body was this ravaging rage. This time the devil should be scared of me. Getting there, a young man covered in full pile of blood was laying helplessly on the ground. His eyes.. Oh his eyes were already so pale that I was starting to doubt whether there was any black left in them. It became so hard to even notice where the wound was from. I couldn't really tell much, but from the looks of it, it looked like he was butchered on purpose. He had been completely rough handled. Poor man. What feared me most was that his soul was already half gone from his body as his body was close to being empty at the moment. It was so scary, yet sad and devastating. I couldn't protect him. All of the happiness inside of me, crumbled away and dissolved into the air like dust. There was a silence to my soul; like I was fall leaves under frost. I felt the chill in my blood, coldness bringing the synapses of my brain to a stand still. Part of it was a pain, yet one I felt I could endure, one I could sleep through night after night without the need of false hope.
