Omotayo
As I expected, dealing with chief Onuh was going to be very far from easy. He easily had the best lawyers in the country at his disposal and till date he has never lost a case put against him. Going through his criminal records had been an eye opener for me; the man has a spotless record and yet he is popular for his notorious activities.
He has been arrested twice but according to word on the street, the same judge always seems to be in charge of his case and it's rumored the judge was on his payroll. If any of these rumors are true, then definitely, I already lost the case even before I started. I stayed up all night reading through his files continuously, hoping I would find one flaw in his supposed clean slate but they was none, at least, none that was obvious but after years of working and watching my dad work, I've learnt that there's no perfect crime and behind that clean slate, there's a weakness and I'm
Adebayo "Bayo, why haven't you called Tayo to confirm what you heard? If she betrayed us we need to act fast and cancel our contract with that firm." Bunmi says impatiently."Bunmi, you're wasting your time talking to this one." Arin says, chiming in. "That lawyer lady already has his number and nothing you say or do will bring him back to his right senses. The best we can do for him now is look for a good cleric to help me snap out of whatever trap she has set for him, if not, he will transfer the entire company to her by tomorrow morning, if care is not taken sef, he'll sell us for her sake." He adds immediately, earning a death glare from me.I know they were right to be suspicious and I should be too but I just didn't have it in me to distrust Tayo. The fact that she went to see Justice Onuh definitely worried me but not in the same way it worried them. They are worried that she might have switch
Omotayo"Tayo I swear, you're a lost cause." Ini hisses in frustration, quickly dumping the rest of my clothes with her on my bed."I know and agree that I'm a lost cause but Ini please, I beg you please help me out. I really don't know what to wear. You know I haven't invited a guy over in more than two years, so I'm a little rusty on things to do and my nerves are not helping me at all." I explain to her and she smiles, not the normal type of smile though. It's that smile you see on someone's face before they spout nonsense."Tayo be honest with me, do you like this guy?" She asks and I frown."Like him bawo? I barely know the guy and we only just became friends." I reply defensively and she laughs, making me wonder when I made a joke or what part of what I said sounded funny. "So he's just your friend and you woke up six in the morning to start cleaning the house. He's you
Omotayo After a while of sulking and fuming over a bad day, I decided to take a walk outside to clear my head and maybe get myself something to drink at the first corner shop I see."Good evening madam." Torinto my gateman greets with his usual creepy smile."Good evening Tori, how everything?" I ask.(How everything? - Pidgin)"Oga I dey o but no be my matter dey important, it get something wey happen wey I wan tell you." He says and I urge him to go ahead.(Boss, I'm okay but right now, I'm not important. There's something that happened that I have to tell you.) "Ehn ehn... It get one brother wey dey outside before, he stand beside him motor but him no bother knock gate. I first dey suspect am but when I go ask am who him dey find, he talk say na you he find come but it be like say he dey call you but you know answer so he con comot but him ta
Omotayo The awkward silence in the room was suffocating and very uncomfortable for me but I ignored my itch to break the silence and continued to wait for Bayo's managing director, who was running a few minutes late.Ever since the issue we had on Saturday, I've avoided Bayo in every way possible. I blocked his number on WhatsApp, ignored most of his calls with the excuse that I was busy, which wasn't a complete lie if I'm being completely honest, but I would normally exaggerate how busy I was just to avoid talking to him and after a few more days of getting ignored, he stopped calling.A tiny part of me was hurt and I felt a little ignored at first but at the end of the day, I had no one to blame but myself. I'm the one with insecurities after all."Good morning everyone. My apologies for arriving late." An unfamiliar voice greets, snapping me out of my depressing thoughts."It's okay s
Omotayo "Good afternoon miss." Bunmi greets the lightskin lady behind the table not too far from Chief's office."Good afternoon Sir, how may I help you?" She asks with a small smile, batting her fake lashes repeatedly at him."We're here to see chief Onuh, we have an appointment." He replied with a flirtatious smile and I scowl. Are they really doing this in front of me? How disrespectful!"He has been expecting you. You may go in." She tells us and without wasting any time or sparing one look at her, I walk away and happily pulled Bunmi with me."Why did you pull me away like that?" He asked, sounding a little offended and I hiss."Should I have left you there to keep smiling foolishly at the lady instead of focusing on why we're here?" I hiss back at him, earning an incoherent grumble from him but I simply ignored and walked towards chief's office.&nbs
Omotayo My head hurt like a million nails had been pierced deep into my skull. I tried looking around me to decipher where in God's name I was but I got nothing. The room was way too dark and I could barely see anything at all. I gave up on trying too hard since it only worsened the excruciating ache I was dealing with at the moment."HELLO! IS ANYBODY HERE?" I yell at the top of my lungs but the only sound I was met with was the constant reechoing of my own voice. The fear I had tried to mask had overwhelmed me immediately and I couldn't help myself from panicking. I tried loosening the multiple ropes that was used to tie my hands behind a pillar but it was almost impossible and since my legs were also tied tightly, I was helpless and that only worsened my panic."SOMEBODY HELP ME!" I yell as loudly as I could again but like what happened the first time, my own cry for help came back to t
Omotayo. It's being more than twenty four hours already but Kendrick was still a no show. The only person I had seen so far was his lap dog, whose name I still didn't know even after I attempted to talk to him and even offered to pay him triple of whatever he was getting from Kendrick an offer he refused immediately and he even stopped talking to me at some point. He was obviously getting sick and tired of me since I had made it my mission to frustrate him but giving up was not something I planned on doing anytime soon."Why hasn't Kendrick shown up? It's been more than twenty four hours already." I whine childishly, earning a frustrated growl from my him. "Just wait patiently and shut the hell up already!" He raised his voice angrily but I persist over and over again, getting immense joy from seeing the stress lines on his forehead."I'm begging you miss, please
Adebayo. Anger and fear were the only emotions that clouded my thoughts at the moment. I tried thinking positively and pushing any negative thought out of my head but I could not help the negative scenarios that kept popping up in my head. The only thing I could think of at the moment was Tayo's safety. The thought of her being in any kind danger at all scared the shit out of me."Bayo let's calm down first before jumping into any conclusions. You know we're still not sure if she was kidnapped or if she ran off on her own for personal reasons." Arin utters foolishly and I could not help the look of disgust that formed on my face. Is he being serious right now? "Can you hear yourself bro? Are you really making any sense to yourself? Imagine your sister were in her shoes right now and then someone out there is still assuming she ran off, wouldn't you feel upset about it? You heard it yourself when I spoke wi
Omotayo. "Tayo, are you seeing what I'm seeing." Ini asks as soon as she runs towards where I stood with Bayo."What's happening Ini? What exactly are you seeing and why is Tayo not saying anything?" Bayo asks an already furious Ini and although I could hear and understand them, I still could not speak up."Guys, una dey see who I dey see abi na my eye dey deceive me?" Angela asks immediately she walked up to us and something about them asking made me feel even worse. Lord knew, I wished so dearly that seeing him was only a part of my imagination but the fact that they see him too and that he's actually here with his stupid wife right behind him made me wish the ground could just open up and swallow me whole.(Are you guys seeing who I'm seeing or are my eyes deceiving me?) "Can one of you just answer me already? What the hell is happening here?" Bayo ask
OMOTAYO."Ini, am I overdressed?" Angela asks for the thousandth time today and both Ini and I could not help but look back at her with unimpressed expressions on our faces."I swear to God Angie, if you ask that question one more time, I'll strip you naked and use baby wipes to mess up your makeup." Ini threatens obviously irritated."Ahn ahn Ini, why would you even threaten to do something so mean?" She asks and I scoff."For the past thirty minutes you haven't stopped asking us about how you look and whether or not you look overdressed or not and frankly, I'm starting to get worried. Why are you so determined to look good when you've never even met Bayo?" I question, she frowns."Tayo, if you're thinking what I think you're thinking th
Omotayo A permanent smile was plastered on my face after the good news that I had gotten this morning. After days of waiting patiently, I finally got the video that I needed from Gabriel and saying I'm simply happy wouldn't be the right word to describe how I felt at the moment. I was most definitely on top of the world at the moment. The meeting with Bayo and his colleagues was to start in the next five minutes and only Bunmi and I were on sit as we waited patiently for Bayo and Arin to arrive. "Do you know how much longer they'll take?" I ask Bunmi, who simply shrugs me off and continues with his silent treatment. The rude son of a bish!"I know you don't like me and to be very frank with you, I absolutely don't care since you're not exactly my favourite person but the least you could have done was give me a proper reply. You don't have to treat me like I'm some kind of furniture." I snap at
Omotayo "Tayo, I heard you're getting married. Is that really true? Are you actually getting married before me?" My elder brother Temitayo, teases and I frown."Who told you I'm getting you married?" I asked confusedly, wondering where he heard such a lie. "Well, isn't that why mom called this meeting? She wants us to talk about your wedding arrangements and your future husband, at least that's what I heard." He replies with a light shrug and I deadpan."So you mean we are gathering here today so mom can pry into my love life again? But why is it always about me? Can't they just talk about you for once since you're the who's above thirty and you're still not married. Speaking on this issue of your marriage bro, are you sure you're actually single or are you just waiting for the perfect timing to surprise attack all of us? Cause I know you very well bro and this smile on your face is not ordina
Justice Onuh I paced around my office impatiently, waiting for the report from one of my men that I had sent to keep an eye on everything step Tayo took and report back to me anytime he found any of her movements strange and he should also let me know whenever she and Bayo met up.Ever since Bayo audaciously walked into my office with nothing but pure contempt in his eyes for me all because Tayo had been kidnapped, I had started to slowly suspect that he was seeing her as more that a friend and just the mere thought of them being together, infuriated to no end. He normally avoided meeting me no matter what cause he hated the idea of getting into any kind of confrontation with me and the fact that he had willingly decided to come on his own, showed he might be caring about Tayo a little too much and I didn't like it one bit. My phone rings out and I immediately pick up, hoping that whatever the bastar
Omotayo "Omg! I can't believe it's finally happening. Tayo finally has as a boyfriend o!!" Ini and Angela hollered excitedly and if I wasn't in the comfort of my home, I would have definitely wished for the ground to swallow me whole at the moment. These two girls can be sometimes so embarrassing but doesn't dispute the fact that I love them both very much. Angela has been a really good friend over the years and as for Ini, she was definitely my everything but as much as I loved them both, right now they were pissing me off. "Can you guys stop being so annoying? You're making me feel embarrassed." I snap angrily but with the look on their faces, they weren't stopping any time soon."So we can't celebrate on your behalf again? Is it not a good thing that finally after almost three years of being single to stupor, you finally have a boyfriend that I Ini-Obong Rebecca Udoh, happily approves of as
Omotayo "You want me to be your girlfriend?" I ask stupidly, wondering why I was still so surprised to hear him ask that. The truth is, part of me already expected this to happen but there's definitely a difference between daydreaming about it and finally hearing it yourself from the lips you've been dying to hear it from."Yes, I do but there's absolutely no pressure here Tayo. If you're not ready to give me an answer, I'll wait." He assured and I smiled."Then you won't mind if I give you an answer by the end of night?" I ask."I definitely won't mind just don't break my poor heart." He says with a sad pout, earning a light smack on his arm."We'll see about that. By the way, I have something I want to tell you but I don't know if this is the right time to bring it up but still I'm still going to tell you anyways cause I think you deserve to hear it from me to avoid any kind of misunde
Adebayo"Bro, are you sure you actually want to do this?" Bunmi asks for billionth time today and if he dares to ask me one more time, I might end up punching his teeth out."Bunmi, will you stop pestering me already? What exactly is your problem?" I ask irritatedly, feeling the itch to give him a tight slap."You already know what my biggest problem is bro. Listen carefully to me, I know you like this girl and I swear I have nothing against how you feel about her and I also don't have anything against her but what I don't want you to do is get involve with a woman that also has chief Onuh hovering over her. You already have enough beef with that man and fighting over a woman with your rival is definitely the straw that breaks that camel's back and at the end of the day, you might end up getting hurt." He blurts out worriedly and I sigh. "You should also listen to me Bunmi. I already told
Omotayo I arrived at work earlier than usual this morning because of how desperate I was to get back to my normal life. I haven't heard from Gabriel since the last time we spoke but I didn't call him first to avoid getting him in more trouble just in case he had already gotten into any trouble. I just hope that he was smart enough to avoid getting caught and was only taking his time before sending the video. I still hadn't spoken to Bayo about Gabriel's involvement or anything in regards to chief Onuh but we had already agreed to meet at his office next week and hopefully by then, Gabriel would have sent the video and it would be easier to explain everything to Bayo and his associates."Good morning Miss." Maria, my secretary greets as soon as she walks into my office holding a bunch of files with her. "Good Morning Maria. Are those files for me?" I ask almost immediately, wonderi
