The night was calming and quiet as the full moon shined down on us. Mother was listening to music on the radio while I was looking out the window with my headphones on. Mom wanted to have a girl's day out. So we went to the movies, a spa, and then we ate out.
We were on our way back home when it happened...
A car suddenly slammed against my side. Causing the car to swerve brutally out of control. Mother tried to take back control. But the car eventually flips off of the ground, rolling twice before stopping upside down.
Glass was shattering everywhere. The car had flipped over once before I passed out due to a concussion. The next thing I knew, I was waking up to an intense ringing in my ears while hanging upside down.
My head was throbbing with pain. I tried to unbuckle myself but it was stuck. I turn my head towards mother. But she was already gone.
"Mom. Mom!"
The driver door was wide open. But I didn't see or hear mother outside. After struggling, I finally broke free from my seat belt and fell to the ground. My body ached with every movement. Then I used the rest of my strength to pull myself out of the car. Crawling my way towards the opened door.
And that's when I saw her. Mother's body was just laying in the middle of the road. I sat by her side, desperately trying to wake her up. But she wasn't responding. This can't be happening.
Soon, the ambulance came. The last thing I remember was staying by her side until the ambulance came, thinking about how everything changed from the moment our cars connected. But I feel like there was something else. Something I couldn't remember.
Everything took a strange and dark turn that night. When mother and I got into a car accident..and she never returned. The story should have ended there. But for some reason, it was just beginning traumatically. “Emma.”I turned around to look at dad, who was looking at me worried. “You okay?”“Yeah.” I smiled. “I was just thinking.”I grab my bags from the trunk while inhaling. Smelling the fresh air of a new life.“Home sweet home.”I followed dad inside the house. Looking back at the white walls I was used to growing up. So many memories coming to me at once. Dad placed some of my bags in the living room. “I did buy you a new mattress before picking you up in your room. If you want to make some more changes, you can."“Thank you.”“Oh. And Emma?”“Yeah?”“If you need anything, let me know.”“I will.”I walked upstairs, heading straight to my room. The walls were still pink and girly when I was twelve. The dollhouse was still with teddy bears and posters on the wall. I dropped my
Everybody was walking along the shore of the lake talking to each other and hanging around. But my mind was still stuck on Alex. When our eyes connected, I felt something surreal. I never felt anything like it. Since then, I've tried to stay away but he was still stuck in my mind. Sometimes I would glance his way, but he wouldn't look at me. Now, I was sitting on a rock, watching everybody else have fun. "Hey."Thomas was walking towards me to sit down. "Are you okay?""Yeah. I'm just enjoying the breeze."He glance up at the sky while looking around. "Most of the kids would come here to hang out with each other. It became a very popular place.""It is very active."There was awkward silence between us. Thomas eventually broke the silence. "So what do you think of my friends?""I'm not sure yet. But so far, I like them.""They'll soon grow on you.""What about Alex? He doesnt strike me as social.""Yeah. Alex is a bit of a question mark.""What do you mean?""He just moved here r
The sun shines brightly on my face. I squinted my eyes before waking up. I never thought that I would wake up to these walls again. I stretched my body before waddling downstairs. As soon as my room door opened, the smell of bacon hit my nose. Dad must be cooking breakfast. I followed the smell towards the kitchen. He had already fixed a lot of different plates. Waffles. Pancakes. Bacon. And more. I took a deep yawn."Hey dad.""Good morning honey.""What's all of this?""I thought we could have a breakfast buffet since this would be the first time we ate breakfast together in a long time.""I would like that.""Good. Go ahead and fix your food. I had already set the dining table for us."I walked to the refrigerator to grab some orange juice. Dad set up the table near the flat screen, so that we could watch tv while eating. I set my plate on the table and sat down on the other side. Dad was sitting on the side where he could watch tv.
